ECKERT, Wanda (Wolff)

On August 24, 2012 Mrs. Wanda Eckert of New Sarepta, passed away at the age of 93 years.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom for her family which she so dearly loved, namely her son Roy and wife Esther of New Sarepta, two grandsons, Andrew (Dayle) in Kathmandu, Nepal, and Steven of Edmonton, two great-grandchildren in Nepal, Caleb and new born baby, Ezekiel, who arrived early on the day of her departure to heaven, as well as two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends who were blessed by her kindness and cookies. She was predeceased by her husband, Emil, in 1985.
She will be remembered and honored by family and friends on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Missionary Church in New Sarepta with Pastor Jeff Johnsson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery at New Sarepta. In lieu of floral tributes, donations kindly accepted to the Gideons, for she loved God’s Word, P.O. Box 3619, Stn Main, Guelph, Ontario N1H 9Z9 or to Compassion Canada’s Respond Fund, P.O. Box 5591, London, Ontario N6A 5G8.

DUSTIN, Alton Neil
1927 — 2012

It is with great sadness that the family of Alton Dustin announces his sudden passing on Friday, August 24, 2012 at the U of A Hospital.
Alton was predeceased by his wife Diana in 1999. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by their five children: Geoffrey, Jane, Brent, Bruce and Penny. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jill, Haylie, Linnzi, Karly, Tyler, Alodie, Jared and James; great-grandchildren: Tyren, Reah, Kassidy, Nash, Noah, Liam and Sam. He leaves behind two brothers: Melvin (Quebec), Alan (Ontario) and two sisters: Vera (Quebec) and Joyce (Ontario). Alton will also be missed by his many friends and the family he became a part of at The North Ridge Lodge in St. Albert where he lived for the last six years.
Alton was born and raised in Stanstead, Quebec and was married to Diana in 1953. He spent the early part of his life working at the Dominion Textile and for BP Canada in Magog. The family moved to Alberta in 1978 and Alton began work at the University of Alberta employed as a maintenance handy– man, working there until his retirement in 1992. After his retirement, Alton enjoyed going for coffee with his friends, attending functions at The Legion, telling jokes and spending time with family.
A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Community Church, 8704 Mill Woods Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, #521, 4211 Younge Street Toronto, ON M2P 2A9.

VAUGHN, Denice Marcia

Denice Marcia Vaughn (Shivak), age 56 passed away in the afternoon of Monday, August 20th, 2012 at the Edmonton General Hospice after her courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Jim Vaughn, who she was happily married to for 37 years. She leaves behind her two children Christopher (32) and Lisa (29). Denice also leaves behind her six brothers, two sisters, and 17 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her nephew Kelly Shivak and her father and mother Joe and Theresa Shivak.
Denice’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (200 Boundary Road, Spruce Grove, AB) on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 at 7:00 pm.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Hope Mission Brightwood Ranch Camps (Box 953, Edmonton, AB, T5J 2L8); a camp for underprivileged kids Denice was active in donating to.

Eckert, Wanda

RILEY, Mabel Agatha ( nee Grey)
October 6, 1918 – August 1, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a devoted mother, grandmother, sister in the Lord and friend. On Wednesday, August 1, 2012 Mabel Riley of Edmonton, AB, passed away peacefully in her sleep during an afternoon nap at the RAH Station 29 at the age of 93 years.
She is survived by her five loving children: Vincent (Ruth), Dorothy (Ranny), Joyce (Marcus), Roy (Myrna) and Leon (Louise), three sisters-in-law, 31 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great– grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughter Hyacinth in 1945, her mother Amelia in 1960, her father Alexander in 1966, and her husband Zaccheus in 2002.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, 9950 — 148 Street, Edmonton, AB. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at the RAH for the love and care she received during her time there.

OLSON, Fred Melvin

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Fred, of Mundare, Alberta on August 18, 2012, at the age of 76 years.
Fred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Mary Ann; sons Clint (Karen), Buck (Sheila), Shorty; daughter Shelly Palash; grandchildren Kandice (Greg) Gratz, Cody, Jessie, Justin, Shae-Lyn, Shanni (Derry) and Sharlie (Chris) Palash; two great-grandchildren Kaylyn and Sterling; sister Vivian (Gordon) Bolseng; brothers Vic, Jim (Donna), Ken (Doreen), Wayne (Lynn) also numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Moyer Recreation Centre in the arena, in Josephburg, Alberta.
To honour Fred, please bring your horses, teams and rigs to the Josephburg Gymkhana Grounds, 2 miles east of Josephburg (12:00 p.m.). Donations in memory of Fred may be made to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society, Box 35, Mallaig, Alberta T0A 2K0. Gordon and Cindy Kadatz directors in care of arrangements.

LORENTE, Marie Reine Angeline (nee Houle)

Marie Reine Angeline Lorente passed away on August 2, 2012 at the age of 82.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Gerald Lorente Sr. and sister Germaine Houle in 2012.
Marie was a loving wife, dedicated mother and homemaker. She devoted her life to the love and care of her children: Linda (Tom) Sandin, Joan Hensman, Michael, Gerald Jr. (Maxine), Richard (Brenda); eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Marie enjoyed spending time with her family, trips to Hawaii, Okanagan and Disney Land. We were very fortunate to have her in our life given her long history of medical issues. She will be missed more than words can express.
Many thanks to Dr. Walter Wash, the staff at St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital-Rosewood Gardens and the nursing staff Unit 43 Palliative Care at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Parish, 10826–62 Avenue, Edmonton with Interment to follow at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Sherwood Park, AB. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

LAMBERT, Real

On August 21, 2012, Mr. Real Lambert passed away at the age of 82. He is survived by his grandson Ryan Lambert and son Douglas Lambert (Sherry).
No formal services will be held at Real’s request.

KNOBL, Waltraud
July 16, 1927 — August 15, 2012

On Wednesday, August 15, 2012 Waltraud passed away at the age of 85 years.
A Memorial Service will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Serenity Funeral Service, 5311– 91 Street, Edmonton.

ASTLE, William John (Bill)
December 24, 1922 — May 16, 2012

Bill passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2012 at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy; their children: Kathy (John) Malsbury, Robert (Antonella), Terry, Thomas (Glenna). He will also be missed by his 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bill was a very active and involved member of his city; serving on a great number of boards and community associations. In addition, he and Dorothy loved to travel the world. His passions included tennis, (he was a founding member of the Royal Glenora Club), hiking, cross country skiing, reading, bridge and a tremendous love for music and arts.
His family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and staff of the palliative care unit at the Edmonton General Hospital.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Robertson Wesley United Church, 10209 — 123 Street, Edmonton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Caritas Foundation, Edmonton General Hospital, Unit 9Y, or The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, 9720 — 102 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5J 4B2.

HART, Bob Albert
July 25, 1927 — September 25, 2012

It is with heartfelt sadness that we the family of Bob Hart of Edmonton announce his passing on September 25, 2012 at the age of 85 years.
Survived by his loving wife Linda of 45 years; daughter Wendy; two sons:
Raymond (Andrea), John (Tracy); 12 grandchildren: Deborah, Michelle, Dianna, Amber, Ashlee, Joshua, Karissa-Lynn, Rayanne, Ashley, Holly, Kennedy, Luc;
four great-grandchildren; sister Faye (Don) Stewart, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nephews and friends.
Predeceased by both parents; brother Eddy; three children: Bobby, Eddie and baby Hart.
Bob was a member of the following organizations: Northgate Lions Seniors Centre, Calder Seniors Centre and Marigold 55 Plus Club.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Christian Life Centre 10123 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton, AB.
In lieu of flowers; memorial donations may be made to the Christian Life Centre.

ST. LOUIS, Victor (Vic)
March 5, 1940 — August 30, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Victor (Vic) St. Louis at the age of 72.
Vic is survived by his daughter Cathy Daly (grandsons Robert, Thomas and Shayne), his son Edmond St. Louis (grandson Jordan Staples), his daughter Barb St. Louis and son– in-law Art Lussier (granddaughter Rebecca), his daughter Faye St. Louis, and their mother, Ruth Britton. Vic leaves behind two brothers, Leo (AnneMarie) and Denis and one sister, Suzanne (Jack) Cudmore along with numerous relatives and friends.
Vic was predeceased by his father, Omer and his mother, Rose Helene along with his siblings Pauline, Annette, Alice, Edmond and Paul. Vic was also predeceased by his canine companion DeeDee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 o’clock on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Westview Village Community Hall located at 10770 Winterburn Road N.W. A selection of Vic’s favourite desserts will be served.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations in Vic’s honour may be made directly to the Edmonton Humane Society at 13620 — 163 Street N.W., Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2.

DAVID, Donald Edgar

Don David of Edmonton, AB passed away at the age of 70 years.
Don is survived by his loving family, four children: Mona (Jeff) Hutchinson, Leah (James) Graham, Deanna (Peter) Brown, Don Jr.; eleven grandchildren; seven great– grandchildren, the mother of his children Yrinda David; relatives and friends. Don was predeceased by his father Edgar in 1942 and mother Marjorie in January, 2012.
A private Celebration of Don’s Life will be held.

BISSETT, Faye Ellen (nee Zilkey)
June 17, 1945 – September 26, 2012

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Faye at the age of 67 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Bill; daughters Tannis (Wybren) and Tracy (Dale); grandson Daniel; mother Isobel Zilkey; brothers: Bryan (Ann) Zilkey, Gary (Dale) Zilkey and Ross (Heather) Zilkey. Faye was predeceased by her father Fred. She was an RN Graduate of the Misericordia General Hospital School of Nursing in Manitoba.
A Celebration of Faye’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at St. John’s Anglican Church, 11111 – 57 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital for their care and compassion during this time.

VERLINDE, Ross Obin
April 18, 1993 — September 24, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ross Verlinde of Stony Plain on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the age of 19.
Our dear son, brother, grandson, and great friend Ross will be missed by his father Marcel (Debi), mother Maureen (John) Roberts, sisters Laurel (Jeff) and Heather Verlinde, step-siblings Chad, Derek, Graham, and Julie Roberts, Cam Sharpe, grandparents Pat and Erdine Verlinde, Glen Callihoo, Lloyd and Evelyn Scheideman, Jack and Shirley Roberts, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many great friends.
Ross lived his life to the fullest as a kind, caring person. He was a reliable, strong and a loyal friend always willing to lend a hand, a very hard worker who believed that the job wasn’t worth doing unless you did it really well.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Stony Plain United Church (5012 — 51 Avenue, Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada T7Z 1Y4) Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations to the STARS Air Ambulance (Suite 16, 29 Airport Road N.W., Edmonton, AB T5G 0W6) in Ross’s memory would be appreciated.
