Maria will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family, Mary Roeke (late husband Gerry), Willie (Peter) Dyksterhuis, Marina (Gerry) VanOosten, Francine (Panc) VanVeen, Cathy (Bryan) Shepperd, Arnout (Stacia) Steenhart, Mike (Sheena) Steenhart, Jack (Sharon) Steenhart; and twenty-five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. TAYLOR -- Peter Taylor of Edmonton (formerly of Calgary, Alberta), passed away on December 23, 1997 at the age of 92 years. Peter is survived by his loving wife Dorothy; son Ron (Sandy); and daughter Joan (Craig) Wallace, all of Sherwood Park; six grandchildren, Kendra, Tammy, Sheri, Dan, Kirsti and Kelly; one great-granddaughter Tandia; two sisters, Pearl Bentley of Calgary, and Ruby Evans residing in British Columbia; nieces, Pat Schneider and Doreen Huntington of Edmonton; as well as many other relatives and friends. TAYLORSON -- Robert S. (Bob) Taylorson passed on to be with his Lord while at home on December 21, 1997 at the age of 87. Bob was born in Sunderland, England on May 16, 1910. He had resided in Calgary all of his lifetime except for two years as a child in the Olds District, and five years while employed in Regina. He held positions for twenty years with Burns and Company and with Palm Dairies, and at the time of his retirement was General Manager of the Western Division and Management Consultant of Lennox Industries (Canada) Ltd. In 1975-1976 he served as Chairman of the Board of Creditel of Canada Ltd. He was a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Calgary. He also had a part for several years in the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil Campaign. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene for over sixty-five years. Bob gave himself to the work of his church with joyful enthusiasm and served in a variety of capacities which included Board Member, Sunday School Superintendent for over twenty years, and as Director of Senior Adult Ministries (SAM) from 1978 to 1990. He will be remembered for his depth of concern and helpfulness to other people, and for his ready wit and refreshing sense of humour. This world is a richer place because he was here. Bob will be dearly remembered by his loving wife of forty-five years, Opal; his nephews, Rev. Gerald (Gladys) Fowler, Rev. Gordon (Eleanor) Fowler of Calgary; his niece Helen Heth of Edmonton; nephews, George (Sharry) Taylorson and Glenn (Gail) Taylorson; niece Pat Mordaunt; sisters-in-law, Eldred Taylorson and Pearl McConchie, all of California; as well as numerous grandnephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister Molly Fowler, and a brother Dr. J. George Taylorson. THORNDYKE -- Harold Victor passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 1997 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Jo; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerry and his wife Carol, and Dennis and his wife Sharon (Sherri); also by his three grandchildren, Brian Thorndyke, Tammy Thorndyke-Mains and her husband Bill Mains, and Robert Thorndyke. Harold also leaves to mourn his one sister-in-law Evelyn Aldous. He was predeceased by his twin brother George and George's wife Jean. He will be cherished forever for being a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served with the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve for five years on convoy duty in the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. He will forever by remembered for his contribution to Canada's freedom. At Harold's request, there will be no formal Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Harold's name may be made to the "Agape Manor Hospice Fund". TUPPER -- Mavis Edna Tupper of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on December 25, 1997, after a lengthy battle with cancer, at the age of 79 years. Mavis was born and educated in Calgary. In 1942, she married Glenn Tupper and they had one child, Alfred, who predeceased her. Mavis moved to Winnipeg and was a private secretary for the Jesuit College until her retirement in 1983, at which time she moved back to Calgary. She will be sadly missed by all her friends. Mavis is survived by her brother-in-law Al Perrin of Calgary; two nephews, Ted Perrin of Victoria, B.C., and Robert Perrin of Calgary; and a niece Rosemary and Rick Kry and their family of Calgary. WAHLSTROM -- Robert Axel Theodore Wahlstrom. Bob Wahlstrom, longtime resident of Montreal and recently of Calgary, born April 17, 1910, passed away peacefully at his home on December 24, 1997 at the age of 87 years. He is survived by his loving wife Mildred; a brother Carl in Chicago; his two children, Bob of Calgary and Virginia of Mountain View, California; five grandchildren, Heidi in Lacombe, Dayle and Kim of Calgary, and Kathy and Kimmie of Palo Alto, California; and four great-grandchildren, Robbie, Jeffery, Emily and Howie Jr. He was predeceased by his sister Frances in Chicago. Bob had a successful career spanning fifty-two years with Bondex International Paint Company and retired in Montreal in 1980. WALTER -- Mr. Ernest (Ernie) John Walter of Calgary, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 1997 at the age of 89 years. Ernie was born in July 1908 in Walter Falls, Ontario. He had served overseas in the Army during the Second World War. Ernie is survived by his three sons, Bruce, William, both of Calgary, Tom of Lethbridge; and two daughters, Cheryl Jones of Sundre, and Joyce and Jim Grewcutt of Airdrie; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Jerry in 1972. WEBER -- It is with great sadness that the family of Grant LeRoy Weber would like to inform friends of his passing on Sunday, December 21, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Grant will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine; their three remaining children, Ron, Sharron-Lea, and Gary, and their families; as well as the family of their deceased son Gerald Roy Weber. Grant was born December 29, 1919 in the city of Edmonton. After service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, he joined his brother Gerald (deceased) in the partnership of Cardinal Coach Lines which they operated for many years. Grant served his community through dedication to various historical associations in the province. BARAN -- Mrs. Maria Baran of Calgary, passed away at the Bow View Manor on December 26, 1997 at the age of 94 years. Left to cherish her memory are her nephew John (Lydia) Krill; a great-nephew Bohdan (Sheila) Krill and their children, Matthew and Natalia Krill; a great-niece Maria (Mark) Ochitwa and their children, Christine and Gregory Ochitwa, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by a sister Paraska and brother-in-law Panko Krill in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She was born in Bazar, Chortkiw, Ukraine and came to Canada in 1949 to North Battleford, Saskatchewan and in 1952 moved to Calgary to reside near her nephew, John Krill and his wife Lydia and family. Mrs. Baran was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church.
