MILLS, GINA BARTOLABA Monday, 05 Nov 2007
Parksville, BC
Feb 14, 1966 to Nov 5, 2007
My wife Gina was born in the Philippines on February, 14, 1966, to Francisco and Phosphoradad Babate in Malaybalay, Bukidnon. She died peacefully in her sleep on November, 5, 2007 of cancer. She is survived by her husband Ross McFarlane, daughter, Kathrin Ruth, son James Horace and grand-daughter Alyssa Joy. Small children would go to her instantly, she was a woman that everyone liked from the first meeting. She never let an angry word leave her mouth, she saw the good in everyone and every thing. She always put her family and friends needs before her own. She spoke five languages fluently. She was a very strong women, she fought her cancer with a smile a laugh and a vibrant spirit. The affliction did not stop her from performing all the duties she felt she needed to do. She lost her leg in December 2006; the day she came home from the hospital she was baking banana bread. Right up until the final two weeks she managed to keep our home spotless and the food on the table when needed. The sarcoma tumor quickly spread too many other parts of her body but she rarely complained it took twenty long months for it to finally take her life. Please, if you knew her come and celebrate her life on November 17, 2007 from 1:00 to 3:00 at our home 3346 West Island Hwy, Qualicum Beach she would like that. Gina, our love will never die.

It is with sadness we say goodbye to our good friend Les.
He will be missed by his daughters; Toni, Candy, Cathy and his grandchildren as well as his many friends.
Gathering at Foremost Hall Friday Nov. 9th at 1:00pm

FREEMAN-WARD, William Howard Wednesday, 31 Oct 2007
Parksville, BC
1940 – 2007
Bill passed away in the early morning of October 31, 2007, after a long and dignified struggle with ALS. For an active, sports-minded person, this was an impressive achievement. He is survived by Peggy, his wife of 37 years, his children Jennifer (Isaac) and Kim, his granddaughter Alyssa and his sisters Penny (Keith), Cecilia (Sybe), Rita, and brothers Jerry and Steven (Jenny); he is pre-deceased by his sister Dorothy and his parents Howard and Christena.
Bill was a quiet, gentle person who loved his family dearly. He was intelligent and knowledgeable about many topics. He was also a skilled craftsman and built his family home in Qualicum Beach. He was an avid reader and had many different interests including sailing or any other kind of boating, traveling, badminton, and volleyball. His best ever adventure was with Peggy during the first two years of his ALS, when they bought a Dutch cruiser to live on while they traveled the French waterways until his disease made it no longer possible.
After serving 12 years in the Canadian Navy and Army (Signal Corps) he returned to Queen’s University to satisfy his curiosity about business by getting his MBA. His next interest was Law and although accepted into Ottawa University, the birth of his first daughter stalled that goal. He became a senior federal civil servant instead, and served with distinction. He then moved to Qualicum Beach where he owned his own business as an electrical contractor until he retired.
Donations to the ALS Society of B.C. are requested in lieu of flowers.
There will be an interment ceremony at Qualicum Beach Cemetery, 867 Jones St., Qualicum Beach on Saturday, November 10th, 2007 at 2:30pm. Following the ceremony there will be a reception at 455 First Avenue West, Qualicum Beach.
