Mel was born in Saskatchewan and moved with his family to farm in the Haynes area near Joffre, Alberta.
Mel married Lois Anne Ferguson on November 23, 1947 in Tees, AB. Mel enjoyed a successful career in insurance and built and owned Jingle Pot Campsites in Nanaimo. In 1989, Mel and Lois moved to Abbotsford where they enjoyed many years in retirement. In 2005, Lois passed away and Mel moved to Parksville, B.C. to enjoy his remaining years.
Mel is lovingly survived by his children, Wendy Rogers (Glenn), BarbeeLee Moraes (Clyde) and Gordon Boe, grandchildren Chris Rogers, Corey Rogers, Lucretia Delmos, Don Moraes (Cora-Lee) and Mandy Moraes, brothers Don Boe (Ethel), Larry Boe (Lynn), sister Erlene Oslund (Elmer), aunt Ruth Anderson and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Alberta and B.C.
Mel will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
A public funeral service of Mel’s life will be held at Parkland Funeral Chapel – 6287 -67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Alto-Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, N.W.T. and Nunavut – 101 – 5208 – 53rd Ave, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 5K2.

KNORR, Randy Alfred Monday, 07 Jan 2008

August 30, 1954 - January 7, 2008
Randy was born in Port Alberni and resided in the Coombs area most of his life.
Predeceased by his mother Dalhia in 2005, he is survived by his father Andy, his sister Cheryl (Pat) and family; his children Kelly (Cherise) Kevin, Kimberly (Jerrod) Tyler and Santana (James); grandchildren Brad, CJ, Braeden, Koen, Brittany, Kody and many relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed for his love of life, his smile, and generous spirit. Randy loved the outdoors especially spending time there with his family and friends. We will miss Randy playing the guitar and singing to all of us he loved.
There will be a celebration of Randy’s life at the Bradley
Centre on Saturday, January 19, 2008 from 1-4 pm.

McMILLAN, Helena (Queenie) Corinne Thursday, 28 Feb 2008

McMillan, Helena (Queenie) Corinne of Qualicum Beach, BC, passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of February 28th at the age of 94 years.
She was pre-deceased by her loving husband David, and her only daughter Gail and her niece Cynthia McMillan. Queenie is survived by her devoted family; granddaughter Corinne (Glen) Ovington, grandson Tim Desmarais, great-granddaughters Crystal Ovington (Lee) and Elizabeth Ovington, great great granddaughter Katie Chaperon, nephew Jack McMillan, great nieces and nephews Cindy Dore (Bob), Kathy Lennert (Mike), Geoff McMillan (Melissa), Mike McMillan, and Barbara Ann Riddoch, and their families. She also leaves behind her beloved cat Gemini.
Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
A celebration of Queenie's life will be held on Sunday March 16th, 2008 from 1 - 4 pm. at the Arrowsmith Hall at 1014 Ford Rd, Coombs.
Special thanks to Dr. Desai and his staff, and the doctors and nurses at NRGH. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the SPCA.

BOUILLET, Raymond Henry born June 02, 1927 Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan.
Died peacefully January 01, 2008 Nanaimo, B.C.
Ray leaves behind grieving sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, cousins, many friends and neighbours. His infectious smile and cheerful jokes will no longer entertain us, but our hearts and memories are enriched through life with him. As well as diligently supporting his political candidates and their campaigns, he actively contributed to the island communities where he lived and worked. As a longstanding member and past president of The United Commercial Travelers (formerly ACT), Ray’s direct contributions materialized into numerous public entities, including senior’s housing projects, that continue serving his community and future generations. We are all very proud of him and grateful for his colourful touch on our lives.

MOSELEY, Claude Albert (Bert) Tuesday, 04 Mar 2008

Pre-deceased by his mother Rose Elizabeth, his father Henry Evan and his brothers Jack and George, Bert passed away serenely into ever-lasting peace surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday March 4.
Survived by wife Audrey, daughter Mary (John) Beeson, Michael and Jennifer. Daughter Julie, her son Christopher (Vickie) their son Nicholas. Daughter Sheila (Bernie) Dowson, Aaron and Andrea Abgrall. Son John Evan (Tan Lee), Oliver.
Bert worked hard all his life: he started out with a tea tasting company as an assistant. Then trained as a soldier and a paratrooper, serving in Palestine and fighting in Malaysia, where he earned a Mentioned in Dispatches from the Queen. He joined the Canadian Army and served in the Second Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry stationed in Germany, Calgary, Edmonton, again in Germany and in Winnipeg. Where he eventually retired due to a hearing disability.
Shortly afterwards he became office manager for the Victorian Order of Nurses until a move to Parksville where he also worked hard either on the Strata Council, helping owners with minor problems, or as a good ex-soldier painting fences.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday March 8 with family, neighbours and friends attending.
Special thanks to Drs. McClure, Bendali, Earp-Jones, Ganz and Myronuk for their expertise, and to the nurses on the Sixth floor and the Palliative Care Unit, NRGH for their help and support.
Sleep well Sweetheart.

Gunn, William George
passed away at Nanaimo Hospital on March 4, 2008. Ĺ6¶5Bill was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 2, 1941.
He is survived by his wife Miriam, daughter Robyn, and sister Marilyn Harris. Bill was a loyal employee of Via Rail Canada for 35 years. Upon retirement Bill and Miriam left Oshawa, Ontario and traveled for 3 years until 2003 when they settled in Parksville. Bill's passion was golfing with his buddies at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort.
A celebration of life will be held at The Lion's Den, 241 Moilliet Street South, Parksville, B.C. on Saturday, March 8th, at 2 p.m. ®C 4:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospice Society would be greatly appreciated.

It is with profound heartbreaking sadness that we announce the sudden death of our dear sweet daughter, granddaughter, sister and aunt, Kristiana, on March 1, 2008 at Useless Inlet, B.C. Kristiana had an unbelievable zest for life and her fun loving, beautiful, bubbly personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kristiana was pre-deceased by her uncle Greg and is survived by her mother Christine; her "Dad" Frank Slocum; her brother James Rode (Thea); her grandparents Ken and Vi Rode; her nieces, Cheyenne and Rayanne Rode; stepbrother Mark (Joanne) Slocum; stepsister Lori (Curtis) Wirth; her father Eric (Pam) Froehlich, their children and of course her many, many friends.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #49, 146 W. Hirst Ave., Parksville on March 9, 2008 at 1:00 pm.

McMILLAN, Robert Edward Thursday, 28 Feb 2008

Rob passed away peacefully, after a month long battle with his heart.
Survived by his loving wife and best friend of 33 years, Linda, Sons, Aslan (Jenna), Thorin (Corri) and Jonah, Grandchildren, Drew and Claire and Dad Ralph Walker. Pre-deceased by daughter Alder, brother David and Mom Betty.
Rob lived a rich, full life with his family, friends and animals. He worked for Island Timberlands for 30 years. As a union rep. and a member of the camp committee at Northwest Bay, he was well respected by all, for his generosity, honesty and integrity. His great affection and kindness were deeply felt by everyone he touched with his enormous heart.
A service will be held in Rob's honor on Saturday March 8th, at 2:00 at Knox United Church, 345 Pym Rd., Parksville. An informal Wake will be held on Sunday March 9th, 5at 2:00 at the Errington Hall.
