Born July 9th, 1953 passed away peacefully on September 18, 2007 at Coombs, B.C.
Predeceased by his father, Frank; brother, Raymond; and nephew, Will Spensley.
He is sadly missed & lovingly remembered by his mother, Keren; children, Devon (Ben) Buerge and Stephen (Erin); grandchildren, Asher & Jaeden Buerge; brother, Clayton (Valma); sisters Patricia (Harry) Slobadan and Lenore (Mark) Spensley, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
We will remember Gary for his respect of nature & life and for his love of learning and teaching.

Born August 2, 1919 in Edmonton, Alberta. passed away peacefully September 18, 2007 at his new home in Youbou.
Arthur was pre-deceased by his first wife Jessie Franke and second wife Maureen A. Hanigan. He is survived by his son Arthur, granddaughter April, grandson Danail, great-grandson William, daughter Suzanne (Garry) Loney, grandsons Jarred, Kodey and Zackery.
He lived and died on his own terms.

Arlene Walsh of Nanaimo, B.C. passed away peacefully after a sudden illness in Nanaimo Regional Hospital on September 17, 2007
She is survived by her children Donna (Kim) Hay, Lynn (Kerry) Davison and John (Susan) Walsh, her grandchildren, Aaron and Jocelyn Hay, Jenna and Emma Davison and John, Zachary, Maggie and Samuel Walsh, siblings Ardith (deceased), Beverly, Kaye, Paul and Guy as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was born February 18, 1933 and raised on the family farm near Davidson, Saskatchewan, the oldest child of Eva and Hans Riecken. She moved to Cedar, B.C. at age 16 attending John Shaw High School and than working as a telephone operator and bank teller. She married John Walsh of Cedar August 23, 1952. They raised their family for a few years in Cedar before settling at home on Echo Valley Farm in Qualicum Beach. Later, she lived in Nanaimo and worked for many years at the Tally Ho Hotel, as the front desk receptionist, until her retirement.
Arlene took great pride in her family and home. She was a superb cook and talented seamstress with an attention to detail. She loved to read and do crosswords and was a real history buff. Her biggest joy was visiting with family and hearing about her grandchildren’s exploits. She lit up the room at family gatherings and will be dearly missed by them and all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Stephens United Church Hall, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach.

SUMMERFELT, Howard George passed away peacefully in Whiterock on Sept. 14, 2007.
Howard was born in Sask. Feb. 16, 1925. As a young boy his family moved to Bowser where he enjoyed a lot of his working life until moving to Vancouver to finish his working career.
A lot of people will remember him for his beautiful Wedding Cakes that graced a lot of head tables. He also liked traveling around the world. He loved Greece so much he decided to spend a lot of time there after he retired, returning to B.C. for 4 or 5 months a year.
Howard was pre-deceased by his mother Ila, father Jack, stepfather Bill Smith, brother Wilfred and sister Noreen. He is survived by his brothers, Gordon of Edmonton, Lyle (Vera) of Qualicum, Lloyd and Bill (Marge) of Wilkie Sask. and sister Doris (Gordon) of Battleford Sask. Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
We will have a celebration of life at the Bowser Legion on September 29 at 11:00 a.m.

Bud passed away peacefully at the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. He is survived by sister Moreen Harford of Qualicum Beach and numerous nephews and nieces. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Eagle Park Health Care Facility in Qualicum Beach for their compassionate care and friendship for Bud during the last 2 + years.

Parker, John Henry of Parksville, B.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2007 at the age of 93.
He was pre-deceased by beloved wife Laverne, son Bobby, brothers Robert and Dennis, sisters Grace, Ella and Ruth.
A veteran of World War II, he is survived by sisters Lenore Holt and Dorothy (Merle) Radatzke as well as many nieces and nephews. He touched the hearts of those who knew him and will be sadly missed by all, including his shuffleboard buddies at the Senior’s Drop-In Centre.
Special thanks to all of his home support workers and the staff of Nanaimo Hospital.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Parksville Cemetery, 1000 Allsbrook Road Parksville, B.C

Born March 24, 1942, passed away on September 9, 2007, at Nanaimo Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
He is lovingly remembered by: his children, Crystal, Landin, and Mopsy; his grand-children, Adam, Cody, Tesla, Kaitlin, Amber, Cheryl, Ryder, and Max; his sister Rena; his former wife Bonnie; and his friend and partner, Linda.
Raymond loved gardening, camping, being near the ocean, and the happy memories of his years on Lasqueti Island and his many adventures in Alaska. He loved his family and friends, and greeted each day with a playful smile. He will be missed by all who knew him, for he was a very special man.
A Celebration of his life will be held in October.

Walker, Alice (nee Martin) of Qualicum Beach, B.C., died peacefully at “The Gardens” on September 8, 2007.
Beloved wife of Neil for 57 years. Loving mother of Norman (Dorothy) Ellis, Isobel Walker, Jane Walker. Grandmother of Frances (Ian) Stevens, Patricia Ellis, and great-grandmother of Scott Stevens, John Stevens, Allison Stevens. Survived by brother, Clifford Martin of Medicine Hat, Alberta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was born a Nanton, Alberta on November 1, 1917. Alice and Neil moved to Qualicum Beach in 1973 after retiring from farming in the Nanton area of southern Alberta. They were active members of the Wandering Turtles and volunteer drivers for SOS for numerous years. Alice was a member of the choir a St. Columba, Presbyterian Church, at French Creek. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and won awards at the local fairs for crocheting and knitting.
Alice was nicknamed “Sunshine” at The Gardens for her ever ready smile. She will be greatly missed by her family & friends

Cherished mother, passed away on September 7, 2007 after a brief illness. Pre-deceased by her son Carl and husband, Angel Ole who treasured her above all else. They are together again.
Beda will be forever remembered by her children Ron, Loretta (Jack) Menzies, Gerry, David (Leslie), and Judy (Tom) Veary. Also many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
There will be no funeral by request and a memorial will be held at a later date.
We would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, paramedics and staff of Nanaimo Regional Hospital for their kind compassionate care.
