Ernest, born Oct. 23, 1926, in Neidernsill, Austria, passing peacefully on Nov. 17 at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, BC. Predeceased by wife Valentina (1988). Survived by son Greg (Gayle) and daughter Katherine (Merv); grandsons Matthew and Christopher; sister Sophie; brothers Joe and Walter and many nieces, nephews and friends.
"Ernie" was known by all to be a very caring, kind and compassionate person who was willing to give a helping hand to those in need. He will be remembered by his children and grandchildren as a man who spent quality time with his family, thereby leaving them with many treasured memories. Ernie possessed great physical strength and abundant energy throughout his life, enjoying fishing, hiking, biking and tending to his beautiful roses.
Many thanks to the very supportive nursing staff and volunteers at the Christine Morrison Hospice.
At Ernie's request there will be no service. His ashes will be scattered on the Vedder River where he spent many happy days fishing. A celebration of his life will be held on Dec. 1, 2007 at his home from 1:00 - 4:00. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christine Morrison Hospice.

Patricia was born in Trail, BC on April 7, 1937. She passed away peacefully at Christine Morrison Hospice on Nov. 16, 2007.
Patricia was pre-deceased by her infant son George, parents Calvin and Elizabeth, brothers Lester and Eugene, and sister Elizabeth. She will be lovingly remembered by daughter Janet (Matt) Blake and Ashley, twins Karen (Blair), Kenny (Debbie), Jordan and Jared. Pat worked at CIBC in Mission until her retirement. In her early years she was an avid member of the Mission Curling Club.
A special thanks to Dr. Campbell and home care nurse Janet. Also thanks to the special care from all the staff at Christine Morrison Hospice during mom's final days. A big hug for (Spikey) Jayne for her overwhelming support to all of us.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Nov 24, 5:30 - 9:00 at Mission Curling Club (Leisure Centre). Mom will be deeply missed, you were truly an inspiration to all of us. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Christine Morrison Hospice.

Darrin McKay passed away suddenly on November 16, 2007 in Abbotsford B.C. at the young age of 41 years. Darrin’s love of animals (especially cats), the outdoors and archery sustained him through some difficult times. He enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to country music and working with computers. Darrin’s easygoing and friendly nature earned him many friends along the way and he will be missed by all.
Darrin is survived by his father and mother, Don and Lucy McKay of Abbotsford, his sister Gail (Daryl) Phillips of Sherwood Park and his two brothers, Brian (Susanne) McKay of Kimberley, BC and Doug (Susan) McKay of London, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 22 at 1:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home in Abbotsford, BC.

Eugene was born on Sept. 19, 1926 in Fischerfranzen, Ukraine to Josef and Karolina. He had a twin brother who was lost in the war and a sister, Melita, still living in Germany. Eugene lived in the Ukraine until he was 18, then went into the army. His father was taken to prison in 1937 and was not seen after that. His mother and sister stayed together and landed back in the Ukraine after the war ended.
Eugene sailed to Canada in 1951, ending up in Quebec until 1953. From there he went on to Kamloops and worked in a sawmill there. In 1955 he moved to Vancouver where he worked in various sawmills and later at UBC in the poultry science department. In 1956 he met Helen Letkemann and in 1957 they were married in First United Mennonite Church. Over their 50 years of marriage they lived in Vancouver, Richmond, the Okanagan, and settled in Abbotsford in 1988. Eugene spent his last year and a half in the Menno Hospital.
Eugene enjoyed music, reading and working in his greenhouse and workshop.
Eugene is survived by his wife Helen, children Kathy, Anita, Karol and Eddy; sons-in-law Harry and Ron; grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Brian and Becky, Sarah and 4 great grandchildren, Noah, Ian, Alyson and Jersey.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 22, 11:00 am at Clearbrook Mennonite Church, 32027 Peardonville Rd., Abbotsford.

While surrounded by her family Elva Maxine Costinak passed away, on November 15, 2007 at Stuart Pavilion – Extended Care Unit of Mission Memorial Hospital, at the age the age of 81 years. Elva was pre-deceased by her devoted husband of 51 years, Stephen. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon, Marcy (Mike), Mark, Michael (Michaela) and Walter (Sonni); her grandchildren, Brad, Sam, Jeff, Kyle, Cassy, Matthew, Stephen, Erik, Cameron, Katie and Sarah. Elva was a long time resident of Stuart Pavilion and the family wishes to express their thanks to the staff for their care and support.

Dr. George Preswick passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness with his family by his side, on the morning of November 15th. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Emily, daughters, Allison and Jennifer, and son Joseph.
Special thanks to Dr. John Lennox and the home care nurses for their care and compassion.
Cremation took place on November 21. There will be no service by request, but his family will celebrate his life for the rest of theirs.

Eva Mary (nee Bryant) gently passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission BC. Eva was born in Lestock, Saskatchewan on October 4, 1920. She grew up on the Prairies but also lived in Nova Scotia, California, Abbotsford and Clearbrook, BC. Eva was a dedicated mother and compassionate person, who was always concerned with the suffering of others less fortunate than herself. In life, she enjoyed playing the piano and visiting with family. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Louise (Ed), Ken, Norma (Keith), Dale (Rita), Julie (Jerry), and Kathy; grandchildren Andrew, Laura, Andreas, Kevin, Steven, Alex, Justin, Nick, Kathryn and Elizabeth and siblings Annie of California and Arthur of Vancouver. Eva is pre-deceased by her first husband Gerhart Gausman and second husband Paul Yunkovich 1990, as well as siblings Elsie and Jim.

GRAHAM, Minnie Elizabeth Tuesday, 13 Nov 2007

Minnie Elizabeth died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 following two months of illness. Minnie was born in Vancouver in 1928 and after the death of her husband, moved to Mission where she dedicated her life to the breeding of Alaskan Malamute dogs at her Bearpaw Kennel which produced many champions over the years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Ken Willmott and granddaughter Amber, all of Kitchener, Ontario. Minnie was pre-deceased by her husband, John F. Graham, a Captain with the Vancouver Fire Department who died in the line of duty on Nov. 10, 1979. Minnie was interred beside her husband in North Vancouver.
Friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, November 30 at noon at the Best Western Hotel, Lougheed at Hurd, in Mission. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal support society of your choice.

Mrs. Elma Pastro, late of Abbotsford, passed away on January 18, 2008 at the age of 94 years at Maplewood House.
She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Ken (Bonnie) Pastro, Heather Buchanan, Judy (Ian) Chapman, and Michael (Brenda) Pastro. She will also be forever loved and missed by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her sister Gladys.
Elma was pre-deceased by her husband of 54 years, “Babe”, sisters, Mary, Angie and Annie, son-in-law Barry Buchanan and daughter-in-law Kim Pastro.
The family would like to thank Dr. Winner and the staff at Maplewood for their compassionate care.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 25, 2008 at 11:00 am at St. Ann’s Parish, 33333 Mayfair Avenue, Abbotsford with Father David Dawes celebrant.

Erna passed away peacefully at the Menno Hospital. She is pre-deceased by her husband John Harms and son Harry Harms. She is survived by her children Ray (Hilda) Harms. Helen (Henry) Neitch, Reinie Harms, Walter (Pat) Harms, Barbara Harms and Sheryle Harms; by 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Erna was the most wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. We will miss her strength and her humor. She will be in our hearts forever.
A celebration of Erna's life will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 1:30 pm at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 32470 7th Ave., Mission, BC.
