BEILARD, Werner Heinz Thursday, 28 Aug 2008
Abbotsford, BC
Werner passed away suddenly at the Royal Columbian Hospital. He leaves behind, his loving wife Gloria; his children Patricia, Paul and Peter; his grandson Dax; his daughter-in-law Rona and son-in-law Arthur.
Werner had an adventurous pioneering spirit. He came over from Danzig, Germany in the late 50's and settled in Jasper National Park. He gave 31 years of service to Parks Canada and loved river fishing and traveling.
After retirement he moved to Penticton to enjoy the Okanagan sun (and learned how to grow tomatoes:)
Over the years, the annual trek to the airshow inspired another move west to Abbotsford. He enjoyed the milder winters, the arrival of foreign aircraft every August, and being closer to family. Not one for sitting long, Werner became a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society, something he did with great enthusiasm for over 12 years. His goal was to continue driving until the new Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre was completed. We are saddened he didn't get to enjoy a third retirement and fishing for salmon up north.
We miss him terribly. Dad, we know you would have appreciated this proverb "What a caterpillar calls the end of life, wise men call a butterfly." We love you. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
A service is planned for Friday, August 29, 2008 at 7:30 pm in the reception room at Henderson's Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford. Everyone is welcome.
