It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lino. He passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Maisie, his daughter Bev (Gordon Epp) and Linda, his grandchildren Tyler and Tracey, and his "sons" John and Bob Gagno. He is pre-deceased by his brother Primo and sister Mary and is survived by his sister Edelina as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends.
He will be remembered as a pioneer of Richmond, a farmer, a trucker, and a recycler of sand and gravel. He was a Shriner and a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge. A lover of baseball, John Wayne movies, cooking turkey hash on Boxing Day, donuts and going for coffee with his life long friends Duncan, John, Jake.
The family would like express their appreciation for the care received from Richmond General especially the staff of 3 South, and Dr Sigismund.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 29th at 2:00 pm at the Richmond Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Richmond General.

Our beloved mother and aunt passed away at Richmond General Hospital on December 19, 2007. Edith was born November 2, 1913 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Nicholas in 1961, and by her brothers Robert and Edward and sisters Florence Freeborn and Phyllis Mater. She is survived by her son Ken, daughter Maureen Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews. Edith moved to Richmond following her retirement from service with the Saskatchewan Provincial Government as a cabinet minister’s secretary. She remained independent, active and alert until the end, attending church, participating in the Steveston and West Richmond bridge clubs, completing the daily New York Times crossword, and producing copious quantities of fine needlework creations and cookies. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, December 31st at St. Anne’s - Steveston, 4071 Francis Road, Richmond. It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Nugent (nee Clark) on December 16th after a short but courageous struggle with a brain tumour. Predeceased by her husband of over 56 years, Michael Nugent, she will be remembered with love and greatly missed by her daughter Jennifer (Dufour), son-in-law Paul and her grandson Mike as well as by her dear dog Mickey. Shirley's family would like to thank her good friend Edith and her neighbour Cathy for their support and kindness and also to extend their thanks for the love and support of the many relatives and friends in Richmond and across the rest of Canada and the United States.
Shirley's favourite expression was "live and let live" and with her kind heart, generous nature and boundless compassion she lived her life well.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Quelch for the compassion and the care of both Shirley and Mike and to the team on 4 North of the Richmond Hospital for their kindness. As well, thanks go to the staff and residents on 3 West of Minoru Residence where Shirley ended her journey.

MCKINNON, DONALD passed away March 6th, 2008 in Richmond Hospital at the age of 71. A Richmond resident since 1970, Don will be remembered as a dedicated worker but mainly as someone who truly knew the meaning of putting his family first. He is survived by his wife Denise, daughters Donna and Debra, and grandchildren Kristina and Ryan. His family wishes to thank all of his Watkins customers of the past 30 years, as well as the special nurses and staff at Richmond Hospital. By request, no services will be held. Mom passed away peacefully in the morning of March 5, 2008 at the Richmond General Hospital. Cherished by her 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, she has moved on to join our father, Donald R. Russell, her husband of 64 years, who pre-deceased her in 2002. The fourth of 9 children born to Fred M Garland and Catherine M Garland (Strachan), she arrived in this world on Jan 18, 1916 in Vancouver, B.C. She was pre-deceased by 5 of her siblings, Fred, Hazel, Isabel, Ken and Melvin.
She is survived by her sisters Gwen, Dodie (Bill) and Eileen (Ted), as well as her children, Roberta (Jorge), Don (Bev) and John (Sandi). Always positive, she lived by her motto, Que Sera, Sera. A long time resident of Richmond, she was very active in the Richmond chapter of the IODE and was an original member of the Quilchena Golf and Country Club. Golf became one of her passions and she was known as a fierce competitor, enjoying frequent success in individual and team competitions across the lower mainland. Her grand-children became another passion as they brought "sunshine" to her life, and she brought "sunshine" to theirs.
At Mom's request, there will be no service. Any donations in her memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon.

RUSCHEINSKI, Matt passed away peacefully in Richmond on March 2, 2008. Survived by his loving wife, Doris, two sons Bob (Barb), Doug (Marilyn), daughter Sandy (Dale) and five grandsons, Jamie, Chris, Kayle, Tyson and Justin. Also survived by one sister and three brothers and many nieces, nephews and friends. Our hardworking meat cutter, avid fishermen and loving head of the family will be greatly missed by all. Born September 18, 1932 at home on Railway Avenue, Steveston, B.C. John Lackner died February 15, 2008 after a brief illness. John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay; his sons, Sam and Ken; his daughter-in-law, Valarie; his brother, Ray; his in-laws, Anne and Glenn Owens, Sandy and Jan Hill, Robbie and Josie Hill; his special friend, Lynne Sam and his many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
John, a lifelong Richmond resident, was an active community member who chaired the movement to preserve Brighouse Park. Throughout his life he supported many peace and social justice initiatives. He took pleasure in his exquisite garden that passersby saw as an oasis in Richmond’s urban centre. Johnny was a well-known builder in B.C. lacrosse as a player, coach and official. In his later years John enjoyed many days with friends and family at Maple Beach, Point Roberts. On Friday, February 22, friends and family are invited to a reception at the Ukrainian Community hall, 53111 Francis, Richmond, between 1 and 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to General Currie School, 8220 General Currie Road, Richmond, B.C., V6Y 1M1 for building their primary playground. A generous, fun, and caring man.

Our matriarch has gone. Marjorie died January 29th at Minoru Residence in Richmond at the age of 96. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Henry Timms, in 1994. She is survived by her four children Noreen, Letitia, Patrick (Mae) and Allan (Irma), 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Marjorie was born in Victoria, B.C. and took her nurses' training at the Jubilee Hospital. She nursed in Seattle, Shanghai, China and Shaughnessy Hospital in Vancouver. While in Shanghai she married Henry Timms, a British policeman and they had four children including the first Caucasian triplets to be born in Shanghai. The family spent the WWII years in Vancouver and Salt Spring Island, returned to Hong Kong for 5 years and then came back to Richmond in 1949 where they lived until the present. Marjorie and Harry loved their years in China.
The family would like to thank the staff at Courtyard Gardens and Minoru Residence for their kindness and professional care of Mom over the past few months. We would also like to thank Dr. Adam Chang, Dr. John Sigismund and Dr. Kay Boroomond for their care over these many years.
No service by request. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, a donation to Richmond Library in Mom's memory would be appreciated as she received so much pleasure there.
A good woman, a good life, she will be missed.
