Creative craftmaking of toys for charity was yet another facet of her generosity and love for children. She lived every day of her life to the fullest, having great inner strength, and much compassion for others. You were an outstanding daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunty, we miss you so much. Happy Birthday!
Love Mom, Dad, Bob, Tam, Brock, Brandon, Keith, Brianne, Jennifer, Scott, Robert, Ron, Russ, Gail and many more family & friends.
When we look to the heavens above,
Somehow we feel you near.
We think of how much we love you,
And to us still so dear.
You were an angel sent to earth
To fill our hearts with love
A Forever Kind of Angel
Sent from heaven above.
We didn’t know you’d leave so soon
That God for you would send.
An angel would hold you in His arms,
And heaven with you ascend.
Uncomplaining and courageous,
You smiled through all the tears.
So much faith and understanding,
Proclaimed throughout the years.
We’re thankful for the time we had
For time we’ll have again.
Together we will be once more
But only God knows when.
Until we see you once again,
We’ll hold you in our hearts
The sweet memories of our angel,
From us will never part.

Engstad, Elizabeth (Betty) Thursday, 21 Sep 2006
Victoria, BC
Elizabeth (Betty) Ida Engstad passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 89 on September 9th, 2006.
Betty is lovingly remembered by sons Philip and Peter, their wives Carolle and Sonia and grandchildren Tania, Tracy, Jeremy and Kai.
Betty was a graduate of the University of Victoria and spent 40 plus years teaching school in the Cariboo, Burns Lake, and in Nelson at her beloved Hume School. The most important things in her life were her family and the children she taught. Often while shopping in Nelson she would be approached and remembered by former students.
Betty had a thirst for traveling which was a life long adventure with favorite locations being France and England, where she enjoyed live theater and music. She also enjoyed traveling in the Kootenays and often would take friends on day long road trips and nature walks. A giver not a taker, she believed strongly in giving back to her community and served on the hospital and library boards and other volunteer organizations. The family is tremendously grateful to the entire staff of Jubilee Manor where she resided for her final years. She was treated as “family” and received exceptional care, compassion and love from the entire staff. A family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
