With Sadness, we announce the passing of Chad Murray at the Peace Arch Hospital with his loving family and friends by his side. He is survived by his best friend and wife Fern, daughter Pamela and son Trevor.
He was well known and respected in the helicopter industry for 40 years. His heart was filled with pride for his family. Chad ("The Gate Keeper") will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of his Life will take place at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28th Avenue, Surrey, B.C. at 2:00 pm, Saturday September 13, 2008.

Mr. Norman Deptford passed away at Mt. Cartier Court Extended Care, Revelstoke on Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 just three days short of his 92nd birthday. A Celebration of Life Service was held from the Chapel of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke on Tuesday, May 6th with family and friends presiding. Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. Pallbearers were Norman’s sons: Bruce, Ron, Ken, Dave and Don and son-in-law Rob Mellish. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Community Foundation, Box 2398, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, or to the B.C. Heart & Stroke Foundation, Box 2088, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Norman.
Norman was born in Revelstoke, B.C. on May 6, 1916 and had been a life long resident, except for his time overseas during World War II. He was a former member of the Oddfellows and Royal Canadian Legion and was a member of the CPR Pensioners, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Norman was a veteran of WW II and served overseas from 1942-1945 in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. He was a truck driver, gunner, and medical assistant. Norman was very proud to have served his country and proud of his war years. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. Norman was proud of all his children and was a good family provider.
Norman was pre-deceased by his wife Joan in 1986 and by his siblings: Helen, Eva, Beatrice, Lillian, Jimmy, Georgina and Florence. He is survived by his seven children: Bruce (Carolyn) Deptford of Kamloops, Ron (Sandra) Deptford of Ladysmith, Ken (Fran) Deptford of Pitt Meadows, Judy (Rob) Mellish of Revelstoke, Dave Deptford of Edmonton, Dianna Bulman of Calgary and Don (Lena) Deptford of Langdon, Alberta; 17 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, one great grandchild on the way, sister-in-law Irene Sainsbury of Victoria, one cousin Kay Anklovitch as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.

Jack McNaughton passed away at New Horizons in Campbell River on April 25, 2008. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife Annabelle, his infant son Clifford, his parents and 9 siblings. Jack is survived and will be lovingly missed by his children Cathy of Revelstoke, Lindsay (Earl) of Campbell River, Shelly (Gerald) of Courtenay, Jacki (Tom) of Campbell River, Bill (Terri) of Radium, Kim (Brian) of Campbell River and Aloa (Lyle) of Red Deer. He was also a proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and great grandfather of 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jack served in the Navy during W.WII and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He worked in the logging industry until his retirement. In his leisure time Jack enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, telling stories and spending time with his family and friends. A celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 2770 Dunsmuir Ave. in Cumberland on Wednesday Apr. 30, 2008 at 2pm. Tom Harvie passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 at the age of 73 years. A memorial reception was held at the Revelstoke Senior’s Center on Tuesday, April 29th with Mr. Gary Sulz presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 5L3, or to the Revelstoke Hospice Society, P.O. Box 3133, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Tom.
Tom was born in Rutland, B.C. on December 8, 1934 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1980. After attending Ranger School at Green Timbers from 1959 to 1960, he worked for Forestry and moved all over the province, living in Lillooet, Penticton, Bella Coola, Hazelton, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Williams Lake and finally Revelstoke. He was the District Manager for the Forestry Office in Revelstoke for many years. Tom loved the outdoors – hiking, canoeing, biking, backpacking, gardening and skiing. He taught skiing in Revelstoke for 15 years, even while he was in his 70’s. In his younger years, Tom was an avid badminton player. He met his future wife Ruth on a badminton court in Williams Lake in 1958. Tom was a great handyman who enjoyed woodworking and made small pieces of furniture and bird houses for friends and family. Tom especially enjoyed camping and looked forward every spring to the time when he and Ruth could hop into their camper and go RVing. Family was very important to Tom and he taught his oldest grandchildren to ride a bike.
Tom was pre-deceased by his parents, brother Alex Harvie in 1997 and sister-in-law Helen Harvie in 1999. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Ruth of Revelstoke; two children: Janice (Kerry) Gustafson of Williams Lake and Neal (Susan) Harvie of White Rock; seven grandchildren: Dylan, Trevor, Ryan, Brandon, Taylor, Lauren and Alyssa; sisters: Margaret (Bill) Smith of Delta and Agnes Ingram of Penticton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.

Mortimer, Margaret W. passed away April 15, 2008 at Haven Hill Retirement Centre in Penticton. She is survived by daughter Lynne (husband Chris) of Oregon, granddaughter Kari and twin great grandsons Michael and Christian of Texas; Kim (Dain) and great grandchildren Linnea & Grayson of Washington. She also is survived by sisters Edie Rear & June Johnston, brother Leonard Freer, godson Jim Gullickson and 32 nieces and nephews.
Margaret was pre-deceased by her loving husband “Mort”, sisters Nora Gradin & Ruth Beddeson, brothers Scott, Vic and Stan Freer as well as grandson Christian.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Haven Hill Centre.

Mrs. Lois Masur passed away at Queen Victoria Hospital, Revelstoke on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008 at the age of 77 years. A Funeral Service was held at the Revelstoke United Church on Tuesday afternoon, April 8th with Reverend Ken Jones officiating. Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke. Pallbearers were: Jamie Millar, Scott Gamble, Ryan Shanks, Bill King Jr., Kyle Tizzard & Aaron Tizzard. Honorary pallbearers were: Bill King, Ken Granstrom, Clayton Hamilton, Peter Eichinger, Jeff Tizzard, Gordon Shanks, Ron Eichinger and Ed Schroeder. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Hospice Society, P.O. Box 3133, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, or to the charity of one’s choice, in memory of Lois.
Lois was born in Kamloops, B.C. on February 25, 1931 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1988. She was a charter member of the Revelstoke Hospice Society, a 20 year member of the Revelstoke Golf Club, a member of the Ladies of the Shrine and help make cancer dressings with the Eastern Star. Lois was a school teacher and taught school at Albert Canyon, Selkirk School and substituted at Mica Creek School. She was an avid curler and especially enjoyed being with her family and friends.
Lois was pre-deceased by her parents, sister Audrey, brothers-in-law: Paul, Alfred, Robert, Charles, Leslie and Donald Masur; sisters-in-law: Elsie and Audrey. She is survived by her husband Clayton of Revelstoke; two brothers: Ken (Marge) Millar of Comox and Jim Millar of Vancouver; sisters-in-law: Agnes Masur of Melville, Saskatchewan, Isabelle Masur of Calgary, Mary Masur of Parksville, Julie Masur of Williams Lake, Dorothy Moen of Melville, Ethel Nash of Victoria, Gladys Knowles of Maple Ridge, Marjorie Brown of Armstrong, Doris Smaha of Armstrong and Lillian (Peter) Eichinger of Armstrong as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Margaret Helene Munk passed away in Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at the age of 82 years.
A graveside service was held in the family plot in Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke on Monday afternoon, April 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Ken Jones officiating. A reception followed at the Lower Level of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Born in Golden, BC on June 9, 1925, she was a pioneer of the Revelstoke area, with her father working for the CP Rail, they moved from section to section. Margaret attended school in Sicamous. She resided in many locations, settling in Vernon until moving to Downie RV Resort in 1986, where she remained active until very recently.
Pre-deceased by her husband, Fred on November 7, 1997, two brothers, Ed and Lloyd and her parents, Timothy and Margaret Wallis, she leaves her loving family, son Don (Sylvia) of Downie; two daughters, Marilyn (Bert) Halvorson of Prince George and Elaine Miller of Edmonton; four grandchildren, Kerri, Lorrilei, Roger and Angel; 5 great grandchildren; and one brother, Bert (Velma) Wallis of Calgary.

McLaughlin, Michael (Mick) Wednesday, 02 Apr 2008

We regret to announce the passing of Michael (Mick) McLaughlin on April 2nd, 2008 at Vernon Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. Mick was born in Muldonagh, Claudy, Northern Ireland on December 18th, 1933 and immigrated to Canada in 1956. He started working construction in Alberta, then moved to Vancouver in 1958. Mick worked on several major dam projects in Hudson Hope, Mica Creek, Revelstoke, Trail and Old Man River. While working construction, he also owned a restaurant in Fort St. John and a car wash and pressure wash business in Vernon. After retiring from construction in 2000, he spent his time traveling to Portugal, Ireland, Hawaii and the Alaska Highway; all the way to the Arctic Circle. These last few years were spent in his RV traveling and spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. Mick enjoyed meeting new people, socializing and being the life of a party. Mick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lorraine and by his sons, John (Janet), Michael (Margaret), Kevin and Ryan (Erin) and by step-daughter, Rhonda (Gordon) and by grandchildren, Daniel, Colton, Jessica, Ashley, Sara, Courtenay, Grayson and Ty. He will also be in the prayers of his sisters, Mary, Ann, and Elizabeth and brother Paddy all of Northern Ireland. Mick was pre-deceased by parents, John and Mary Ann, sister, Rose Collette and brother, John. Prayers were recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church with Father Leo Boyd officiating. Interment took place at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A reception was held at St. James Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory of Michael may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society. Charles passed away at his home in Lumby, B.C. He was born in Ferintosh, Alberta on April 17th, 1931 and died Easter morning on March 23rd, 2008. After farming in the early years, he came to British Columbia where most of his work was in road construction and highway maintenance. He is survived by his caring wife Mona, children, Karran, Gordon, Jim and Jack, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He will be missed by numerous family members and friends. Mrs. Maria Bafaro passed away at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Thursday, March 20th, 2008 at the age of 72 years. Prayers were recited from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Wednesday evening, March 26th, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning, March 27th with Father Ramon Basilla celebrant. Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were Maria’s grandchildren: Phillip, Franco, Steven, Tony, Stacie and Sean.
Maria was born in Spezzano, Piccolo, Italy on September 20, 1935 and had been a resident of Revelstoke since 1951. For the past eight months, she had lived in Vernon. She was a long-time member of the Italian Canadian Club. Maria enjoyed gardening, but her favourite past-time was watching hockey, both at the local level and the National Hockey League.
Maria was pre-deceased by her husband Filippo in 1985; her parents Salvatore & Giovanna; four sisters: Aurora, Pepinella, Julianna in Italy and Franca in Montreal; two brothers: Gerard and Tomisino, both of Italy as well as many in-laws and nephews. She is survived by two sons: John (Angela) of Revelstoke and Mike (Diane) of Vernon; one daughter Maureen of Kamloops; six grandchildren: Phillip (Karley Trauzzi), Franco (Ashley Dubois) and Steven, all of Revelstoke; Tony of Kelowna, Stacie and Sean of Vernon; sisters: Lydia Falcone of Revelstoke and Evita (Franco) Polillo of Montreal; brother Tony (Rita) Donato of Montreal; in-laws: Franco Brancati in Montreal, Oresto Cava in Italy, Paulina (Angelo) LeRose and Margaret Bafaro of Revelstoke as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
