Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We are meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know,
For some the
journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
But when the journey
finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.
Clayton, Kathleen Barbara Friday, 14 Dec 2007
Merritt, BC
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Barbara Clayton, at the age of 84, on December 14, 2007.
Mum was a long time resident of Merritt prior to her move to Kamloops in 2004, most recently at the Ponderosa/Overlander Care Facilities. Her family would like to thank the wonderful family of caregivers that surround Mum in those two facilities during her stay. They treated her with such respect and love that it was if great comfort to us all.
Mum was a proud Englishwoman who served in World War II in the Auxiliary Training Service (ATS) and was a war bride, bravely leaving home and family behind to join her Canadian soldier husband in Canada. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Edward Clayton, in 1999. Mum and Dad will forever be held in the hearts of their five children and their spouses, as well as those of their 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Kathleen was a career homemaker, always there with homemade bread and cookies, to go with a hot cuppa tea. She was a clever knitter, and enjoyed a good game of cards or a “knees up”. Many of her hours were spent pushing the hospital goodie wagon or working at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop.
The family is planning a private gathering to honour their dear Mum in the spring.
