Kapfer, Thomas - August 9, Tommy left us, very much loved, we'll miss him.
Pre-deceased by his grandfather Wilfred Smith.
Left to mourn his passing are his brother John, parents Teresa Kapfer and Rob Baker, grandmother Jennie Smith, family members Bennie Smith, John and Cheryll Smith, Rosalind Creed, Wendy and Ian Chapman (Sarah and Ashlee), Christina and Laura Baker and cousins Marg, Mary Anne, Molly, Maureen.
Tommy worked at the Longwood Brew Pub/Restaurant and Boston Pizza.
Flowers gratefully declined, donations in memory of Tommy to NALT Mount Benson, Nanaimo and Area Land Trust, 8-140 Wallace Street, Nanaimo, BC, V9R 5B1.
Visitation for Tommy will be held Friday, August 17, 2007 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo.

GWENDOLYN MARY YOUNG Nee Risebrow - With sadness we announce the sudden passing of Gwendolyn Mary to the hands of our lord on August 29, 2007.
Gwen will be loved and forever missed by her husband of 33 years, Wesley; her son, Timothy (Emilia); her daughter, Jennifer (Jason); her mother, Ethel Risebrow; her brother, Ted; her sister-in-law, Nancy; all her nieces and nephews; and her many friends.
We know Gwen was greeted into heaven by her dad, Cecil; her grandmother, Florence; her grandfather, Jack; and her uncle Harold.
A celebration of Gwen's life will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church, 1611 Quadra St, Victoria on Friday September 7, 2007 at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gwen's name to the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs or to Cops For Cancer.

PEARSON, Wallace John - It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Wally passed away September 4, with his family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by son David in January 2007, he is survived by his wife Diana, daughters Anne Bennie of Nanaimo, Lori Tanner (Jeff) of Lantzville, sons Greg (Janine) of Ft. St. James, Michael and Chris (Michelle) of Campbell River, grandchildren Megan and Rachelle Tanner, Sean and Shannon Bennie, Malarie, Mitchell and Mark Pearson, and his brother David (Alice) of Duncan.
Wally was born in Vancouver November 30, 1933. He attended John Oliver High School and graduated in Forestry from UBC in 1956.
As a Registered Professional Forester he worked for MacMillan Bloedel in the Queen Charlotte Islands and then Campbell River and Nanaimo areas until his retirement in 1997, when he became a consultant. He bore his illness with outstanding strength and dignity.
He leaves us with cherished memories of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Colin Walker for his kindness and for the care he provided to Wally, also thank you to the staff of Palliative Care at NRGH.
A celebration of Wally’s life will be held Sunday, September 16 at 2 p.m. at Nanaimo Golf Club, 2800 Highland Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

The family of Mary Pennie announces with great sadness her peaceful passing at N.R.G.H, her family by her side.
Mary will be missed by her children, Rob, Dave, Carol & Randy. Sisters, Sharon, Linda, Betty-Anne & Gail.
Her only granddaughter Aliasha, as well as nieces, nephews & cousins near and far.
Mary had a wonderful sense of humour and led her life with simplicity.
Once an avid dart player she had won many trophies. She had a love of word searches, puzzles, cats and gardening.
A service will be held in her honour at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC, Saturday September 15th at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to either the BC Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Tom Wood passed away on September 10, 2007 at Cowichan District Hospital. Beloved husband of Susan; father of Danny, Chris, and Steven; son of Fred and Alice Wood. Also survived by his brother Rich (Reta), and many relatives and friends.
Heartfelt gratitude to the staff of ICU; attending physicians; and Marilyn Klizs for their outstanding care and support of Tom and his family.
A celebration of life will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 187 Trunk Road, Duncan, BC on Sunday, September 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.

passed away on Wednesday, 12 September, 2007 in Surrey Hospice.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Sharon, daughter Jenna and son Tanner; his brother Dale (Ann), step-mother Joy, step-brother Reid (Diane) and three step-children; Michael, Johanna and Jillian.
Visitation/viewing will take place on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 7-9:00 pm at Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk Road, Ladner, British Columbia.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Peace Portal Alliance Church, 15128 -27B Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.

Mr. Yukio Nishi

Yukio Nishi passed away peacefully at the age of 85 after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Iyoko (Ann), brother Isao (Kayoko), sister Minako Nakano (Yasuo) and many relatives and friends.
We would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Yun and Dr. Carvalho for all the wonderful care and attention given by the nursing staff of the palliative ward on the 3rd floor at the Richmond Hospital.
To honour his request, a private family funeral will be held at the Steveston Buddhist Temple on September 20th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
Cremation will follow at the Vancouver Crematorium.
In lieu of flowers and Koden, donations may be made to the Steveston Buddhist Temple.
