Mrs. Gladys Sitch
April 7, 1912 - September 11, 2007
Passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on September 11, 2007. Mum was born in Thunder Bay ON and lived in Conmmee Township before moving to Thunder Bay and Terrace Bay ON, where she and her husband Charlie raised their three children. They retired in Duncan BC and Mum later moved to Campbell River to be near her daughter Joyce. Mum was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1989; daughter Muriel Cataford and son-in-law Allan; her four brothers Harry, Cyril, Arthur & William; as well as sister Hilda. She is survived by her daughter Joyce Sweet (Jim) and her son Keith (Norma); grandchildren Judy Wright (Mike), Brian Cataford (Chris), Ann Hutsall, Bill Sweet (Sharon), Tom Sweet (Noreen), Richard Sweet (Carol), Kevin Sitch, David Sitch, Darryl Sitch (Corina); and 23 great-grandchildren. Mum will be greatly missed by all those people whose life she touched in her many years with us. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care given to her in the last 17 months by the Evergreen Seniors Home in Campbell River. They are a model for the care of all our elderly people. A private family service will be held with interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cedar, BC.
Mrs. Marilyn Joan (nee La Porte) Rahn
January 7, 1951 - September 8, 2007
Was born at Grace Hospital on January 7, 1951. The second of eight children to Ralph and Helen; Marilyn was big sister and #1 babysitter. Marilyn graduated from Port Coquitlam High School. She commenced work at Mc Leod Young Weir as a secretary, she worked as a bookkeeper for various accounting firms and she entered Real Estate in 1984. She had her first child Bradley James Cowan on Sept 7, 1974. Marilyn married Greg in 1979 and their daughter Megan was born to them on Sept 25, 1984. Together with Greg she became a shareholder in Sutton Group-Broadview Realty and Sutton Group-Langara Realty. Over the years Marilyn was a hockey, baseball, soccer, ballet Mom to her two beloved children. Marilyn taught skills to sew to many children and in her spare time she designed costumes. She also became an avid interior decorator. She was a volunteer and supporter of many different charities including the “Nite of Hope” and “The Centre for Integrated Healing”. When Marilyn wasn’t busy with one of her ongoing interests or functions, she found time to socialize at the Richmond Country Club. Greg and Marilyn have many fond memories of their time on the golf course. Marilyn is survived by her husband Greg, son Brad, daughter Megan, mother Helen, brothers and sisters: Tom, Gale, Bob, Peter, Paul, Donna and Ken, Her mother-in-law Bernice and all of her brothers and sisters-in-law and her many nieces and nephews. They will greatly miss her family gatherings, Christmas parties and her arts and crafts get-togethers. Marilyn was a beautiful wife, mother and friend who will be greatly missed by all. The family will be celebrating Marilyn’s life at a Memorial Service at the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond, BC on Sunday September 16, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Mr. Peter Michael McElheron
September 17, 1931 - September 9, 2007
It is with heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of Peter into the Presence of the Lord, beloved husband to loving wife, Jacquie, for 54 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Viola Graham, hi father Hugh James McElheron, his sisters, Mary and Teresa, his son-in-law, Tom Greenman, and his grandson, Tanner McElheron Hopkins. He will be greatly missed by his nine children, his numerous grandchildren, his sister Margo and family, and the Delta community.
He was a faithful, loving and supportive husband and father. He grew up in Montreal where he attended McGill University. There he met his soul mate and his future became theirs. He became a member of the Abbott Laboratory team. Throughout his 35 years, he worked diligently and was rewarded with many promotions. Peter came out west as Western Regional Sales Manager. When he retired, he was given the Presidential key.
Peter was excellent at all sports, especially hockey. He played Jr. A hockey with the Royals and played for McGill. Arriving in BC., soccer became his passion. He organized and provided leadership for youth soccer in Delta.
Two services will be held in his honour.
On Wednesday, September 12, visitation with Peter's family will take place at 1 p.m. at St. David's Anglican Church, 1115 - 51A Street, Tsawwassen, followed by a service at 2 p.m.
On Thursday, September 13, visitation with Peter's family will take place at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8440 Williams, Richmond, followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service. This will be followed by a burial service for family and close friends at Boundary Bay Cemetery. Further information is available through Delta Funeral Services.

Mr. Norman Smith Lucas
June 19, 1921 - September 14, 2007
Norman Smith Lucas of Crofton B.C. passed away September 14, 2007 after a long time of sickness. Dad was born in Winnipeg Manitoba June 19, 1921. Moved to Calgary and raised his family where he worked for McDonald's Consulate for 29 years. Then he and his wife moved to the Island in 1979 where he worked till retirement with Safeway Canada/Duncan. Predeceased by his granddaughter Coralee. Dad will be sadly missed by his wife and partner Doreen of 63 years. Son: Marc (Brenda), Daughter: Laureen (Jeff), Son: Alan (Julie), Son: Darren (Judy), Son: Brett. His grandchildren: Dana, Kelly, Derek, Trista, Keely, Rylan, Amanda, great-grandkids, Tristan, Lucas, Noah, Madison, Trenton, and many family and friends. Special thanks to: Dr. Robinson and staff at the Coleman Clinic, Cowichan District Hospital, Ambulance Service, Crofton Fire Department. Wallace, Marion Adelaide (nee Redford) - In loving memory of Marion Adelaide Wallace (Redford) born October 21, 1920 in Ogema, Saskatchewan. Marion passed away peacefully, September 14 in Dufferin Place, Nanaimo. Pre deceased by her husband Alphie, sister Vera Oliver, granddaughter Deanna Baumel, and daughter-in-law Laurel Wallace (Harris).
Marion will be missed by her brother George Redford (Janet) Abbottsford, her children Earl (Ange), Caron Burns (Lyle), Jeannette Baumel (Gord), All (Loree), Dan (Debbie), 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, one great-great grand child, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to express their thanks to Katherine, Elizabeth and the staff in the Cedar Unit of Dufferin Place for their kindness and compassion.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday September 22, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Pleasant Valley Social Centre, 6100 Doumont Road, Nanaimo.

Mrs. Mildred Isabelle Simpson
March 11, 1927 - September 10, 2007
Mildred Isabelle Simpson (White), of Nanaimo BC, passed away peacefully September 10, 2007 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. In keeping with her ways of love and leadership, Mildred’s surviving siblings, Joe White and June Lewis, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews were present during her final days and hours.
Employment at the “Indian Hospital” (TB hospital), School District 68, Nanaimo, in addition to many community involvements also filled Mildred’s life. Mildred’s loving approach to life was remarkable and stands as a foundation for grateful generations to follow. Pre-deceased by husband Dave, Mildred is survived by six children Yvonne, Sharon, Mark, Gary, Tom, Vivian, many wonderful grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Thompson, Lois Winnifred (Nee Sheepwash), born January 30, 1929, passed on peacefully while in residence at Malaspina Gardens on August 20, 2007.
Lois is survived by her brothers Paul (Jeanette), Lyle (Karen) and sister-in-law Harriet Sheepwash, as well as sons Keith and Arne, daughters Leeanne and Judy, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Malaspina Gardens and We Care for the many years of love, compassion and companionship provided to Lois.
