Ken passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home in Nanaimo.
Born in Ocean Falls, raised in Ladysmith, BC, Ken was the oldest of three children born to loving parents James (deceased) and Irene Taylor. Ken was a loving husband to Cheryl; a caring father to Michael, Tammy (Mike), Sandy (John), Jason (Holly), Adam, Angela (Dustin), Andrea, Kyle, Brett and Sareena; a proud grandfather to Jordan, McKenzie, Braydon, Mariah, Hunter, Billie, and Drea; and a supportive brother to Nancy (Allen) and Phillip.
Ken made many friends through his personal life and through his business ventures in Northern BC and on the West Coast. He was devoted to his grandchildren and loved the nature that surrounded him in BC. He was passionate about golfing, fishing, and hunting with his friends.
His career in the Forest Industry began in MacKenzie, BC by earning his CGA professional accounting designation, then progressing through the ranks to Chief Accountant of a major logging division. He eventually created his own successful logging business along with son Michael, supporting several small communities on Vancouver Island.
A generous person to his family and friends, Ken will be deeply missed by all.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 1:30 pm at First Baptist Church, 1650 Waddington Road, Nanaimo, BC.
Visitations are to be held Thursday, September 27, 2007 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Friday September 28, 2007 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s name to the Children’s Hospital of BC or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC and Yukon.

Vera died peacefully on September 24, 2007 at Mount Tolmie Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1921 in Victoria, BC.
Survived by her husband John (Jake); daughters: Donna Baslee (Pat), Diana Barker (Bob); grandchildren: David Shannon, Randy Barker (Charlotte), Sheryl Fox (Chris); great grandchildren: Justin, Brandon, Jordan and Dylan Fox, and Jade Shannon. Thanks to the staff at Mount Tolmie Hospital for their excellent care.

Mrs. Remedios Ogerio Bicknell

BICKNELL, Remy Lejano passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer. Remy will be missed by her employers, her friends and her garden.
She is survived by her husband Peter, her mother and three sisters.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Richmond General Hospital, especially The Palliative Care Unit for their attention to Remy's needs.
There will be a small gathering on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 1:00 pm at 13282 97 Avenue, Surrey, British Columbia.

Mr. Thomas Patrick Mitchell

Born March 17, 1918 passed away September 26, 2007 .
With heartfelt sorrow we, the children of Pat Mitchell, announce his passing. He is now at peace with his beloved wife, Sylvia. Pat will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was one of those rare individuals who exemplified how to live life with morally correct values, how to treat others with dignity and respect, and how to enjoy the simple everyday encounters with family and friends. Dad was born in Toronto. After completing high school he enlisted in the Canadian Air Force to serve in WW2. He was proud to be a navigator and was awarded the Operational Wings of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Returning to civilian life Dad married the love of his life, Sylvia Becker, and together they raised four children. He worked in Toronto as a photo engraver until 1982 at which time Dad happily retired to Sylvia’s hometown, Victoria. They traveled and thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years. He is missed by his four children Michael, Gail (Bob), Heather (Brian), Helen (Bob), his six grandchildren Kelly, Thomas, Eric, Jamie, Emily, Kate and his two great grandchildren Brydie and Gabriel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 798 Goldstream Ave, Langford on Thursday October 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Takashi Teramura

Takahsi passed away peacefully on September 19, 2007 at the Richmond Hospital at the age of 67. Takashi was born on August 28, 1940 in Vancouver, BC. He is survived by his son Peter; sister Kay; and brothers Yosh (Sandi) and Ken (Pauline); and many nieces and nephews. A private funeral service was held on September 26, 2007 at the Richmond Funeral Home followed by cremation at Mountain View. The family would like to sincerely thank his friends and the Richmond Hospital staff for their compassionate care and support during his illness. Donations may be made in his memory to the BC Cancer Society or the Richmond Hospital Foundation.

Mr. Grant Michael Dawson
March 13, 1960 - September 29, 2007
Grant passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on September 29, 2007. Born in Calgary, Alberta on March 13, 1960, Grant is survived by his loving mom Jan; dad Rennie; and his sisters, Joanne Dawson in Richmond, Val Friedt (Dave) in Edmonton, and Marlene Woschee (Jim) in Richmond. Also left to mourn are nephew Trevor (Enza) and nieces Michelle Friedt and Lauren & Justine Woschee. A 35 year resident of Richmond, Grant's work life was with the Keg and Save-On-Foods. The Dawson family extends their deepest thanks to the staff of Steveston Residence for their compassion and wonderful care of Grant during his years of illness, and to his fellow residents for their companionship. A celebration of Grant's life will be held at Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road on Sunday, October 7th, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation. Golf or casual attire, at Grant's request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's Research.
