Born in Toronto, Ontario on June 1, 1939. Passed away at home in Duncan, BC
on October 14, 2007. After being parted from his loving wife Joan (predeceased June 2005), he is finally reunited with his "Joanie". Survived by children: Cheri (Larry), Kevin (Sally), Richard, Robert (Rachel) and Randy (Sheila). Papa to: Matthew (Adell), Lindsay, Justin, Dustin, James, Will, Ashley, PJ, Suzanna, Sasha, and Jagan. "West Coast Dad" to Gary, Linda and Kristin. No service by dad's request. A tea will be held Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Gary and Linda's house "at Bill's Cottage" – 2896 Herd Road, Duncan.
Mrs. Sylvia Muriel Nora Deeter
October 15, 1924 - October 16, 2007
Died peacefully October 16, 2007 in her home at Cerwydden Care, Duncan, BC. Born in Southampton, England on October 15, 1924 as the youngest of three sisters. Her life journey was filled with both expected and unexpected adventures. Sylvia served actively in the British Women's Royal Air Force during the Second World War. She moved to Canada in 1946 as a British War bride to join her husband in Alberta. Sylvia was predeceased by her beloved eldest daughter Jan in March 2005. She also joins her older sisters Ellen and Brenda. Her love for singing will be missed by her surviving family; daughter Deborah (Beth); son David (Penny); son-in-law Herb; grandchildren Carrie, Scott, Angela, Ashleigh and Stephanie; and great-grandchildren Cody, Sarah, and Chloe. We would like to thank the staff and her many friends at Cerwydden for all the loving support of Sylvia and her family over the years. A celebration of Sylvia's life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2007 at St. Peter's Quamichan Anglican Church, 5800 Church Road, Duncan, BC. Ms. Amy Kathleen Modeste

Amy Kathleen passed away suddenly at the Cowichan District Hospital with her family by her side on Friday, October 12, 2007. Born in Duncan, BC on April 23, 1967. Lovingly remembered by her family; children Georgina Modeste (Lorne), Paul Abraham Alphonse Modeste (Mary), Chelsea M. Touchie (James) and Nolan; grandchildren Kiari and Paul III; parents Wes and Diane Modeste; siblings Allison George (Randy), Ernie Modeste Jr., Christopher Modeste (Jen) as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Prayers were offered at Somena Longhouse, Allenby Road, Duncan, BC on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. Burial took place in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Mr. Maynard (Van) Vanderheide
April 24, 1922 - October 16, 2007
With great sadness the family of Maynard Vanderheide announce his passing at home on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Left to mourn is his loving wife of 64 years, Mary. Dad will be fondly and forever missed by his daughters Anita Yarrow (Ernie), and Anna Winter (Don); sons Andy (Elaine), and Chris (Sonja); grandchildren Sheryl, Greg, Rhondi, Brent, Jason, Brian, David, Kristina, Hollie, Brittney, Steven, and Darren; ten great-grandchildren; and his little dog "Cindy". Maynard was predeceased by his sons Martin, Robbie, Mickey, and Danny; grandson Scott; and great-granddaughter Alliyha. The family moved to Crofton in 1957 when dad began working at the new Crofton pulp mill as a millwright. He was a hardworking man and after taking early retirement he built several houses in Crofton. He was an avid golfer and was involved in the construction of the new Mount Brenton Clubhouse and he became a lifetime member after construction was complete. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at the New Life Community Baptist Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Road, Duncan, BC with a tea to follow in the church hall.

Poole, George Albert passed away peacefully on October 18, 2007 in his 72nd year after a brief illness.
Beloved husband of Wendy and devoted father of Jennifer (Oliver) Blank. Proud Grandfather of Cameron, Jaime and Logan. He is survived by his sister Patricia Woods of Calgary, Alberta.
