Mr. John Arthur Crowther
April 21, 1924 - November 8, 2007
Crowther, John Arthur (Jack) born in Therien, Alta., on April 21, 1924 died suddenly on November 6, 2007.
Jack’s history was varied; RCAF crewman, float plane owner/operator, administrative assistant of the Alaska Highway construction, news agent, office administrator on James Island, and then for Blue Bird Cab Co. where he was president for 3 years.
Jack decided on a career in the education field, finally retiring as a principal from Campus View Elementary.
Jack was also involved in the community as a member of the Oak Bay Kiwanis Club for many years.
He has been an active member of the Victoria Curling Club, participating in the sport as well as acting on various committees and boards.
Recently he served as president of Cedarfair Strata Council.
Jack was known as a person you could trust and depend on.
Always ready to be helpful, never expecting recognition. He was a kind and honourable man whose generosity was known by all those, whose lives he touched.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Martha, his brother Ray, his sisters Delphine, Helen, and Blanche.
Most grievous for him was the death of his beloved son John which he handled with grace and dignity. His passing, while it leaves us much saddened, was exactly as he would have wished it.
He leaves to mourn, his wife of 61 years, Betty, his children Carol, Gail, Susan, and Geoff, his sister Jeanette, and her husband Dave, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and numerous friends.
All who knew Jack will miss his presence, comfort, advice, and humor. We love you.
