Our dad was born in Dewar Lake, Saskatchewan on October 8, 1921.
Dad moved to BC in 1941 and resided at Camp Two on the Cottonwood (Yap-Alley).
He put in 45 years working for B.C.F.P. driving logging trucks, and running the speeder on the rail from Youbou to Nitinat till it was discontinued. He then went to Crofton Mill as a crane operator where he retired.
Dad always had a small farm, loved his animals, and did a lot of custom haying in the Cowichan Valley.
Dad then moved back to Paddockwood, Saskatchewan in 1990 to be with his ailing brother Bill.
Dad was the last of his siblings.

Mr. John Arthur Crowther
April 21, 1924 - November 8, 2007

Crowther, John Arthur (Jack) born in Therien, Alta., on April 21, 1924 died suddenly on November 6, 2007.
Jack’s history was varied; RCAF crewman, float plane owner/operator, administrative assistant of the Alaska Highway construction, news agent, office administrator on James Island, and then for Blue Bird Cab Co. where he was president for 3 years.
Jack decided on a career in the education field, finally retiring as a principal from Campus View Elementary.
Jack was also involved in the community as a member of the Oak Bay Kiwanis Club for many years.
He has been an active member of the Victoria Curling Club, participating in the sport as well as acting on various committees and boards.
Recently he served as president of Cedarfair Strata Council.
Jack was known as a person you could trust and depend on.
Always ready to be helpful, never expecting recognition. He was a kind and honourable man whose generosity was known by all those, whose lives he touched.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Martha, his brother Ray, his sisters Delphine, Helen, and Blanche.
Most grievous for him was the death of his beloved son John which he handled with grace and dignity. His passing, while it leaves us much saddened, was exactly as he would have wished it.
He leaves to mourn, his wife of 61 years, Betty, his children Carol, Gail, Susan, and Geoff, his sister Jeanette, and her husband Dave, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and numerous friends.
All who knew Jack will miss his presence, comfort, advice, and humor. We love you.
Funeral Service will be held in the Victoria Conservatory of Music, 907 Pandora Street, Victoria, B.C. on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the charity of your choice or John Crowther Memorial Bursary Fund, Camosun College Foundation, Interurban Campus, 4461 Interurban Road, Victoria, B.C.
