Aimee Strenkowski (nee Gontier), wife of the late and beloved husband Jerry Strenkowksi, mother of Michelle Strenkowski, died peacefully in hospital in Vancouver, B.C., on Friday, Aug. 11, 2000.
She was a woman of remarkable strength and wisdom, who always maintained a wonderful sense of humor. Her loving and caring presence will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her. A committal service will be held for both Jerry and Aimee Strenkowski at St. John’s United Church, Big Bras d’Or Saturday, July 14, 2001.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Canadian Diabetic Association or the SPCA.
Michael Paul Thomson

On Dec. 14, 1999, Michael Paul Thomson of Chase, B.C., passed away suddenly in Kamloops, B.C., at the age of 17 years.
Michael was born in Glace Bay, N.S., on July 8, 1982. As a member of a military family, he lived in numerous Canadian communities. For five months, he resided in Dominion, Cape Breton, attending the school there. Since 1993, he lived in Chase. Michael was a member of Rocky Mountain Rangers Cadet Corps. An avid musician, he excelled in playing the guitar.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Tiare, Chase, B.C.; his sister, Catherine, Chase, B.C.; birth mother, Linda Martin, Ontario; grandparents, Annabelle (Higgins) Thomson, Glace Bay and Rollie and Dolores Phillips, Chase, B.C.; godmother, Isabell Musial, Glace Bay; many relatives and friends.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, Monday, June 19 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
Funeral under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay.

Pearl (Cummings) MacLeod, passed away in Vancouver, Wednesday, May 17, 2000.
Survived by her husband, Alex, formerly of Dunvegan, Inverness County; daughter, Sharon (Robin) Crosby; three grandchildren, Ari, Fay and Kiley and a brother, Don, Portage La Prairie.

James Lawrence Snow

Tragic demise CPO 2nd Class James Lawrence Snow and Zach K-9 on August 3rd, 2000. Age 45 years.
Born on October 6th, 1954, in Toronto, Ontario. Predeceased by his father Roy Lawrence Snow of Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Survived by his mother Marie Thorley of Scarborough, Ont.; son, Jeremy James Snow of Victoria, B.C.; Tracey Boulter-Snow and Joshua Boulter-Snow also of Victoria, B.C., numerous extended family and friends.
James started his naval career in 1973 and was currently serving as, a weapons chief FMF Cape Breton, he was widely traveled and was a naval electronics technician CPO 2nd Class. He was a member of the Shirley Volunteer Fire Department since 1993, and was serving a Deputy Fire Chief and training officer, a qualified First Responder Instructor, and a member of the Jaws Team.
Service of remembrance will be held in the St. Peter’s Protestant Chapel, Bruce Ave., Belmont Park, Colwood, B.C. on Thursday, August 10, at 11 a.m. Lieutenant Commander The Reverend R.I. Cudmore, officiating. Cremation with burial at sea.

Hector Bernard MacLellan, 63, of North Winfield, B.C., died Sunday, July 16, 2000, in North Winfield.
Born at Meat Cove, Inverness County, N.S., he was the son of the late Simon George and Marcella (MacEachern) MacLellan.
He was a former member of St. Margaret’s Church, St. Margaret’s Village and was employed in the agricultural industry in B.C.
He is survived by his special friend, Bev Jablonski, Winfield; sisters, Emma Hines, Meat Cove, Janet Sisson, Hamilton, Ont., Peggy (Mrs. Bill MacIsaac), Antigonish, Lorraine (Mrs. Archibald Fraser), Meat Cove and brothers, Hugh James, Meat Cove, Francis (Catherine), Meat Cove and George, Sugarloaf.
He was predeceased by sisters, Flora, Bessie, Marcella, Catherine and Veronica and brothers, Donald (D A) and Allan J.
Visitation for the late Mr. MacLellan will be in Meat Cove Community Center, Friday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Margaret’s Church, St. Margaret’s Village, Victoria County, with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Burial under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home will be in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Margaret’s Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
James Charles Hunt

It is with profound sadness that we announce Jim's death from spinal cancer, which took place on Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in Prince Rupert, B.C.
Jim was born in Louisbourg, a beloved son of the late Alex and Minnie (MacCuish) Hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; sons, Jamie and Sean, Toronto; stepchildren, Rick, Vancouver, Scott and Laurie, Whitehorse, Yukon; brothers, Sander, Ottawa, Allison, Louisbourg; sisters, Katherine Haugan, California and Isabel Levy, Sydney.
Jim was predeceased by his sister, Mae in 1998.
Jim was a retired member of the RCMP and at the time of his death was working as a security guard in Prince Rupert.
His body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held in Louisbourg in mid-June and immediately following, his ashes will be deposited in the waters off Louisbourg harbour, the place held most dear in his heart.
