He was the son of Alfred and Margaret MacKinnon; also surviving are sister, Eve Martell; two nieces, Cindy Faulds and Rosealee French.
Predeceased by sister, Rosealee.
Cremation to take place in Vancouver.
Zita Theresa Kemmer (Version 1)

Zita Theresa: born April 2, 1925 in Glace Bay, N.S. passed away in White Rock, B.C. on Nov. 25, 1999.
She served her country Canada in the Second World War, Canadian Women’s Army Corp. from September 1942 in England, Italy and North Western Europe, up until her discharge in March 1946.
Zita is survived by her loving family, son, David Clifton Hyman; daughters, Debi (David) Peters and Kathy (Denny) Ball; grandson, Jason (Kim) Ludwick; brother, Kenny (Mora) Hawley; sister, Anna; special nieces, Mary-Elaine (Danny) Campbell, Carolyn Hawley and their children. She leaves numerous family members and friends in Nova Scotia.
Funeral service to be held in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 14615 - 16th Ave., White Rock, B.C. Saturday, Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. Rev. Jim Fergusson officiating. Zita’s ashes will be laid to rest in Nova Scotia at a later date.

Zita Theresa Hawley Kemmer, died peacefully at the Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, B.C.
Born in Morien, C.B., she was the daughter of William James Hawley and Effie Anne MacDermid Hawley.
She is survived by daughters, Debi (David) Peters, Pasadena, Calif. and Kathy (Denny) Ball, Puy Alps, Wash.; son, Clifford Hyman, Tocoma, Wash. and grandson, Jason (Kim) Ludwick, Tacoma, Wash.; brother, Kenneth (Mora) Hawley, Sydney and a sister, Mrs. Anne (Ron) MacDonald, Glace Bay. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces across Canada.
She was predeceased by husband, Ned Kemmer, brothers, Joseph, Basil and George, sisters, Agnes Hawley, Marie Whooley and Bridget Andrecyk.
Zita was a veteran of the Second World War and served with the Canadian Army Show that followed the troops into England, France, Italy and Germany for four years.
She was a well known singer and entrepreneur and sang across Canada and the United States.
Funeral services will be held in White Rock, B.C. Saturday, Dec. 4.
The Canadian Legion will conduct the Last Post and cremation will take place. Burial in Cape Breton later.

Alexander Thompson MacNeil

Alexander Thompson MacNeil, 76, of British Columbia, formerly of King Edward Street, Glace Bay, died at the Brock Fahrni Pavillion, Vancouver, B.C. on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, following a lengthy illness.
Thompson was a son of the late Thomas P. and Jessie (Sutherland) MacNeil.
Thompson was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a machinist and fitter by trade. He served overseas for four years with the RCEME. Following the war he worked in Ontario as a carpenter and settled in British Columbia where he worked as a construction contractor.
Thompson is survived by a daughter, Gale, British Columbia; brothers, Joseph, Soldier’s Cove, John J., Glace Bay; sisters, Sr. Mary Jessica (Florence), Mount St. Vincent Motherhouse, Halifax, Julia Muir, Ottawa, Rosella MacNeil, Aylmer, PQ, Jessie O’Keefe, Glace Bay.
Besides his wife, Rose, he was predeceased by brothers, Peter and Rev. Roderick J. MacNeil, SFM, sisters, Sr. Joseph Peter (Mary Ann) and Theresa Andrews.
Burial to take place in British Columbia.
Deanna Marie Gilbert (nee Turner)

It is with great sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of “Dee” Gilbert in the Victoria General Hospital, Victoria, B.C., on Dec. 1, 1999, at the age of 61 years.
Dee, formerly of Glace Bay, N.S., resided in Courtneay, B.C.
Beloved wife of Gil (Emilien) Gilbert; mother of Sue, Burlington, Ont., Jim / Helen, Victoria, B.C., Sandy, Courtneay, B.C. Predeceased by her parents Art (1977) and Helen (1989) Turner.
Survived by her sisters Pat (Mrs. John Finlayson), Elora, Ont., Arlene Stephenson, Winnipeg, Man., Terri (Mrs. George Hrynewich), Beaverbank, N.S.; brothers Barry, Hong Kong, Alan / Niki, Kitchener, Ont., Art / Tina, Ottawa, Ont. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the niece of Gert Stack, Sydney, N.S., and Elmer McCormick, Glace Bay, N.S.
A memorial service was held Dec. 6, 1999, at the Comox Valley Funeral Home, Courtneay, B.C. Cremation had taken place.
Roderick A. Graham
89, Cumberland, B.C.
Roderick A. Graham, 89, Cumberland, B.C. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 in hospital.
Born in Judique, N.S. he was the son of Angus S. Graham and Jessie (Campbell) Graham. He was a miner for a number of years working in New Waterford, C.B., later settling in Cumberland, B.C. where he spent the remainder of his life. At one point Rod was voted citizen of the year for his committment to his community. A great lover of Cape Breton fiddle and piano music, Rod always had a supply of recordings on hand.
He was predeceased by sisters, Sister St. Francis Capella (C.N.D.), Margaret and Mary Catherine (M.C.); brothers Patrick, Stephen, Alex and Allan.
He is survived by his wife Josephine; sister Florence (Graham) Conway and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and one great-grandniece.
The funeral took place at the Roman Catholic Church in Courtenay, B.C. Dec. 28, 1999.
