Robert J. (Pops) MacNeil

Robert J. (Pops) MacNeil, formerly of Sydney, died suddenly on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, in Kamloops, B.C.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Joseph S. and Mary (Keough) MacNeil.
He attended Constantine School and Sydney Academy. He was employed at Sydney Steel until 1966 when he moved to B.C. and was employed and retired from Weldwood of Canada in 1993. Up until his death Robert managed an apartment complex.
Robert enjoyed golf and was an avid sports fan.
He will be sadly missed by son, Ian, Surrey, B.C.; daughters, Lori (Daryl) Zimmer and Charlene (Cam) Marshall, along with three grandchildren, Jordan, Trevan and Rochelle, all of Kamloops, B.C.
Also surviving are sisters, Louise Vassallo and Tish MacNeil, brothers, Donnie (Diz), David (Penny), all of Sydney and Art (Maryanne) Rossland, B.C. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts along with an uncle.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral services were held in Kamloops B.C.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, Sydney.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Palliative Care.
Randolph Elmer Morrison
Vancouver, B.C.
Randolph Elmer Morrison of Cooper Nursing Home, Vancouver, B.C., passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 15, 2000.
He was born Feb. 20, 1919, in Sydney, the son of the late Gordon and Gertrude (Peck) Morrison.
He was a machinist who worked throughout Canada, before retiring in Vancouver.
Randolph is survived by two sisters, Bertha (Allan) MacDougall, Sydney, and Shirley (Don) MacDonald, Dunellon, Fla.; two brothers, Reg, Mahone Bay, and Ron, Halifax. He is also survived by his step-mother, Grace, in Halifax and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Joyce.
Following cremation Randolph’s remains will be returned to Sydney where a family committal service will be held in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel.
Garnet Parsons
Victoria, B.C.
Garnet Parsons, 65, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, in Victoria, B.C.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Llewellyn and Mary Florence (Edwards) Parsons.
He was a former resident of Catalone moving to Victoria, B.C. in 1969.
Garnet is survived by his wife Carol (Kelly); two daughters, Kelly (Clarence) Newcombe and Eva; two sons, Allison (Connie) and Philip (Penny), all living in Victoria. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Emilia and Katie Newcombe and Erica Parsons; a brother, Lionel (Shannon), Glace Bay and two sisters, Gloria (Hugh) MacLeod and Marie Warren of Catalone.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service and burial took place in Victoria and a memorial service will be held in Main-a-Dieu at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Society.
Charles N. Blue
84, Penticton, B.C.
Charles N. Blue, 84, of Penticton, B.C., and formerly of Orangedale, N.S., died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in the Andy Moog Hospice House, Penticton.
Born May 25, 1916, in Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Duncan A. and Margaret C. (MacDonald) Blue of Orangedale.
A longtime employee of Canada Post. Charles was postmaster of the Orangedale office. He was also an elder of the Orangedale United Church.
Charles was predeceased by his sister, Isabell in 1958.
Interment to take place at a later date in Cape Breton.
A quiet, gentle man, Charles was liked by all who knew him; he had an infectious smile and a twinkle in his watchful eyes.
John Allan McLellan
59, Vancouver, B.C
John Allan McLellan, 59, of Vancouver, B.C., formerly of Lingan, Cape Breton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in Vancouver.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of Jessie and the late John Archie McLellan.
John worked for many years as a hard rock miner in the western provinces.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene and daughter, Louisa, Vancouver, B.C.; brothers, Peter, Ontario, Carl and Scott, both of Halifax, Robert, Alex and Louie, all of New Waterford; sisters, Ann Coleman, Ben Eoin, Margaret McQuaid, Ontario, Dianne McLellan, Montreal, Joan Bedjanic, Montreal, Kathleen McLellan, Sydney.
Predeceased by three brothers, Danny, Mick and William, two sisters, Rose and Sandra.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Heather Marie (Richardson) Steele, 50, formerly of Sydney, died suddenly at her home in Victoria, B.C., Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Peggy (Madge Fry) Richardson, Sydney.
She is survived by her husband, Terrance Steele, B.C.; a daughter, Shelley, son, Terry, grandson, Nicholas, all of Victoria; sisters, Janet, Shirley, both of Ontario, Getta, Calgary, Debbie, Sydney; one bother, Joseph, Calgary.
Funeral service will be held in Victoria. A memorial service will be held in Sydney at a later date.
