LOTNICK, Trish
August 14, 1947 - July 4, 2006
Trish leaves behind her loving family and friends, her son, Alan (Connie), grandchildren, Shayla and Ste. V., her daughter, Lori; grandchildren, Connor, Katie and Christopherk; her sister, Wendy (John); companion, Pete Quinney; best friend, Audrey Wiseman and Jim Lotnick.
She cooked wonderful
meals, loved to dance, drank pots of tea while doing her crosswords.
Trish was forever helping and caring for others and will be missed by all.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Sidney Branch of The Army & Navy, July 23, 2006 at 3p.m.
CORMACK, Tom
With sadness, we announce the passing, on June 29, of our Husband, Dad & Grandpa, after a long & valiant battle with lung cancer.
Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Wilhemina (Billie) and sister, Pat.
Survived by his loving wife, Elsie, daughter, Leslie (Greg), sons, Jack (Cindy) and Steven (Sherrie), grandchildren Christie, Steven, Taylor and Matthew, brother-in-law, John, niece, Kathy, relatives and friends.
Born in Winnipeg, Nov 25, 1931, he moved to Sidney, as a teen.
He joined the RCMP in 1953, where he spent many memorable years.
After leaving the RCMP, Tom earned respect as Chief of Security/Safety Manager and Fire Chief for various mines and mills across B.C., where Tom and Elsie made many lifelong friends.
They moved to Sidney in 1987, where they worked part-time for Sidney RCMP and Central Saanich Police.
Tom will be remembered as an honorable man who lived his life with integrity and humor.
Thank you to everyone at Victoria Cancer Clinic and Victoria Hospice home care.
We especially offer our heartfelt thanks to the very special nurses, volunteers, doctors and staff at Saanich Peninsula palliative care unit for their loving care of Tom.
We will be eternally grateful.

HAUGEN, Jean Wednesday, 07 Jun 2006
Mrs. Jean HAUGEN of Ladysmith, B.C., passed away peacefully in Ladysmith on June 7, 2006, at the age of 94 years.
She was born August 11, 1911, on a farm near Delisle, Saskatchewan, to Alex and Eliza Stevenson.
Her family moved to North Central Alberta; and then settled in the Ohaton District.
In 1940, she married Reuben Haugen of Meeting Creek, Alberta, and moved to B.C., in 1941, where, after a brief time on James Island, they settled in Brentwood Bay.
In 1993, Jean moved to the Baptist Apartments on Davis Road, Ladysmith, then in 2002, to LaRosa Gardens assisted living facility.
The past two years, she lived at Ladysmith Extended Care.
The family is extremely grateful for the conscientious and friendly care provided during Jean's time in Ladysmith by Home Support, Meals on Wheels, the staff at LaRosa Gardens and especially the superb staff, Nurses, Care Aides, Dr. Bowen-Roberts and Dr. Tony Hatchwell at Ladysmith Hospital Extended Care.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Beth (Ton) Dekkers, and grandson, Lloyd Dekkers of Brentwood Bay, son, Ken (Pat) Haugen of Ladysmith; sister-in-law, Helen Leschert of Vancouver; two sisters, Jessie Holt of Carstairs, Alberta, and Dorothy Boman of Ponoka, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Reuben, in 1988, one brother, Charles Stevenson of Camrose, Alberta; three sisters, Margaret (infant) of Asquith, Saskatchewan, Winnie of Aldergrove, B.C., and Florence of Ohaton, Alberta.
A private Interment Service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park, Victoria, B.C., with a Memorial Service for family and friends to be held at Sluggett Memorial Baptist Church, 7008 West Saanich Road, Brentwood Bay, B.C.
With Pastor Chris Naylor officiating on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Coastal Missions, PO Box 77, Chemainus, B.C. V0R 1K0, or to a charity of choice.

LOVELESS, Frances (Mary) (BUTLER)
1918-2006
Longtime Sidney resident, Mary, left us and is reunited with Frank, her loving husband of 53 years. Mary grew up on her parent s farm on McTavish Road.
As a young softball player, she caught Frank's eye when he was stationed at Pat Bay with the P.P.C.L.I.
They married at Holy Trinity Church and enjoyed a full and active life, dancing, boating, travelling, volunteering and golfing.
Mary was pre-deceased by sisters, Thelma and Phylis, and brother, Dan.
She is survived by sisters, Gladys Hastings and Joan Mounce, son, Chuck (Marilyn), daughter Pat Colin, grandchildren, Mark, Evan, Chris, Matt,
Anna, Ted and Cam, and four great-grandchildren.
The family thanks staff at the Sidney Care Home for their loving care of Mary for the past two years.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on West Saanich Road on Monday, April 17th at 2:00pm.

MILLIE, SHIRLEY JEAN nee Tanner of Victoria, B.C.
Oct 3, 1939 - Apr 1, 2006
Jean quietly ended her fight with cancer Saturday, surrounded by family and friends. She is prede-eased by her husband Donald Allen. She is survived by her children Mona Lisa Cameron, Rodney Allen, John Peter, and Donald Edward Millie, her son-in-law Robert, daughters-in-law Marissa, Vivienne, Cindy, Patricia, Linda and daughter Keyo, five grandchildren Scott, Anne, Allyssa, Brandon and Trevor.
She joined the Canadian Air Force in 1957.
One year later, she was married to Don, and posted to Grostequin, France, where Lisa and Rod were born.
The family returned to Summerside, PEI, in 1962 and remained until 1968.
During this period, their second son, John was born. .
They were then posted to Trenton, Ontario, for eight years, where a third son, Eddie (Don), was born.
In 1976, the family returned to Summerside, where Don retired and Jean opened her first cake store.
After Don's passing, Jean courageously returned to school at age 45, with Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario, graduating with honours.
She moved on to Victoria, B.C., to begin a new life, working with the Greater Victoria Hospital, until health issues forced her to retire early.
She was a wonderful Mother who taught her family the true meaning of love and laughter.
The family would like to send a huge thanks to Dr. Jim Melling for his comforting guidance, many visits and awesome bedside manner.
We would also like to acknowledge the presence of an angel named Keyo.
Her love and care for Mom was as great as if it were her own Mom.
She has now become an important part of our family.
Keyo's tender nursing care gave Mom great comfort and friendship.
A great thank you to all who loved and cared for Mom during this journey including Doctors, Nurses, and home care - too many good ones to name individually - but Dave and Landis, you will remain in our hearts!
We will love you for always and ever Mom.
A memorial service and interment will be planned for early summer at the Glassville Cemetery in New Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, would be greatly appreciated.
OLIPHANT, William Murray (Bill)
A much beloved, extraordinary man has passed away. Bill Oliphant, born in Victoria, B.C. on August 1, 1915, died peacefully after a short illness, at Victoria General Hospital on March 11, 2006.
He was a highly respected figure in Victoria, and the Western Communities, and his kind, loving nature and great wisdom will not be forgotten.
Bill is survived by his sister, Mira Yarwood; sons, Don Oliphant and Bob Galvin-Oliphant; daughter-in-law, Dr. Cindy Lauriente; grandchildren, Deanna and Ken; Susan Oliphant and nephews and nieces, Bill Oliphant, Marty Tapp, Debbie Thompson and Laurie Klasan.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Laureen, and wife of 8 years, Stephanie, and by his older brother, Robert McGregor (Bob) Oliphant.
As an R.C.A.F. Flight Lieutenant and flight instructor, Bill served his country at home and overseas, from 1941 to 1935.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. David M. Wolovitz, and to the nurses of Victoria General Hospital (6C North) for their wonderful, compassionate care.
No flowers by request.

MacISAAC, Mary (nee McNair)
Age 112
Born Dec. 27, 1893 to Nathaniel McNair and Mary Splude at Nash Creek, Bay de Chaleur, N.B., died March 10th, 2006 in Saskatoon.
She was a 1916 grad of St. Francis University, and married the late Jack MacIsaac, Q.C. in Charlottetown, in 1922.
The couple spent most of their later lives in Prince Albert.
Mary taught Latin and later, Physical Education in the high school.
An athlete, she cross-country skied up to age 108.
She lectured occasionally at the University of Saskatoon, until 1997.
She was a frequent visitor to Victoria, in March, to see the South Turner cherry blossoms, and to visit her sons, Ron and Col. Alastair; grandchildren, Carol, Dan, Elizabeth and Melanie.
She has a daughter, Mary in Ottawa; Elizabeth in Saskatoon; son, Roderick in Edmonton.
Mary was one of the founders of Co-op Medicine, which later, became State Medicine (Douglas), then Medicare (Diefenbaker, Hall, Pearson).
Her social and educational activities were honored a few years ago by her Alma Mater with a Doctor of Laws.
The early naturalist, Grey Owl, was a frequent visitor to her home, and he had her check his grammar and spelling, which she said was perfect, unknown to her, he had an English Public school education.
