Joe DeLuca passed away at the Elk Valley Hospital on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the age of 66 years, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
His devotion to family, love of life and his great sense of humor are what his many friends will remember.
Joe was born and raised in the Elk Valley.
He enjoyed fishing and golfing in the summers, and Yuma, Arizona, in the winters.
Joe will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Margaret, and by his beloved son, Shawn; daughter-in-law, Rhoda; and grandson, Tanner.
He will also be sorely missed by his mother, Rose; his sister, Irene; brother-in-law, Tony; nephew, Tony; niece, Joliene; and all other family and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Rosmer, on December 4, 1998.
Services were held at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, January 10th, followed immediately by celebration of Joe's life in the parish hall.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Center and the Doctors and staff at the Foothills Hospital.
A very special thanks to Doctor Todd Loewen at the Rocky Mountain Health Center and Doctor Stather at the Foothills Hospital.

Owen, Liela

It is with extreme sorrow that the family of Liela Owen announce her passing, at Joseph Creek Care Home, on December 31, 2008.
Liela was born in Caerphilly, South Wales, and emigrated to Canada, with her husband and son in 1963, they settled in Cranbrook, and Liela worked for several years with Art Draper at Pioneer Motors.
She served many years with "U.C.W. Unit 3" at the United Church.
Liela was predeceased by her mother, father and two brothers, Gwyn and Leyton.
Left to mourn Liela are her husband of 59 years, Clifford; son, Darrell; and grandson, Cayce; sisters, Blodwyn and Brenda and their families in South Wales; brother-in-law, Sonny Owen; his wife, Pat, and their family, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Cranbrook United Church on Wednesday January 7th at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Salanski, Donald
July 18, 1949 - December 30, 2008
The family of Donald Salanski sadly announce his passing on December 30, 2008 in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
Donald was born on July 18, 1949, in Fernie, British Columbia.
He was a loving father who was always there when his family needed him, and will be greatly missed.
He was a cub scout leader, a boy scout leader, coached ladies fastball, enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid camper, loved fishing, off road motorcycling and country music. For the majority of his adult years, Donald was a truck driver for the Columbia Brewery.
He was nicknamed "Dipper" and loved being on the open road.
Donald had recently retired and was living in Cranbrook.
He loved his new found "spare-time" and spent the great majority of it with his grandkids.
Donald is survived by his children, Jolene and Jim Salanski; his mother, Florence; his sister, Marian Salanski; as well as many relatives and friends.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort, in the grand ballroom.

Artiss, Joanne

Joanne died peacefully after an extended 11-week stay in Nanaimo Hospital and a valiant 10-year struggle with Parkinson's Disease.
Her illness never hampered her cheery outlook and sly sense of humour.
Friends often marvelled at her attitude and exclaimed: "What a wonderful gal and nice person."
Born in Ontario, Joanne came west early in adult life and lived in all four western provinces before settling in Calgary area for more than two decades.
She was an active skier and golfer and was a longtime member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club.
She is survived by her husband, Laurie and the Richardson "clan" from her first marriage: daughter M.J., son Rob, granddaughters Mandy and Willow and great-grandson Dorrian, brothers, Bud and Jim Bell, along with her beloved Bichon, "Tex".
A Celebration of Life was held at St. Stephen's United Church in Qualicum Beach on Friday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Parkinson Society of B.C. would be appreciated.
Battram, Louisa Maud
Born: September 30, 1921 in Portsmouth, England
Passed Away: April 7, 2009 in Cranbrook, British Columbia
It is with great sorrow that the family of Louisa Maud Battram announce her passing on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at 87 years of age.
Louisa served her birth country in World War II and came to Canada as a war bride.
She was a loving wife, mother, teacher, mentor and best friend.
She was an eternal optimist, who brought out the best in everyone. Louisa taught people to "pay it forward" and lived life by the golden rule.
Louisa is survived by her daughters: Gail (Richard) Ballance of Cranbrook and Jo-Anne (Larry) Johnston of Lloydminster, Alberta; grandchildren: Lisa (Ken) Grant of Calgary, Alberta, James Malone of Wainright, Alberta; Christopher Johnston of Lloydminster, Alberta; and Angela (Perry) Symes of Oyen, Alberta; great-grandchildren: Chandler Johnston, Jordan, Garett and Miranda Symes and Devin and Cale Grant.
A funeral service for Louisa was held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Christ Church Anglican, in Cranbrook.

Adams, Roger Wayne
November 20, 1956 - April 5, 2009
It is with great sadness that the family of Roger Wayne Adams announce his passing on April 5, 2009 in Cranbrook, British Columbia, at 52 years of age.
Roger was born in Taber, Alberta, on November 20, 1956.
Left to mourn his passing, are his mother, Barbara of Cranbrook; sisters: Joan Sandberg of Cranbrook and Donna (Cliff) Ingram of Revelstoke; brothers: Randy (Brenda) Adams of Kelowna, Bob Adams of Cranbrook and Larry (Michele) Adams of Cranbrook; plus numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his father, Garth Adams.
A funeral service for Roger will take place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cranbrook, on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 1:30 pm.
His interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery.

Maione, Erika Minna Gertrude

It is with sadness that the family of Erika Maione announces her passing at Joseph's Creek in Cranbrook, B.C.
Erika was born in Sochow, Germany, to Paul and Meta Meyer.
She was the third of four children.
The family immigrated to Canada, in 1927, and settled in Lister, B.C.
Erika spent her early years in Lister, Creston, and Canal Flats, and the later years, in Radium.
Anyone who knew her, would remember her love of animals, cats in particular.
Over the years, numerous strays found their way into her home and into her heart.
Erika was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1991.
She is survived by her children, Albert (Lori) of Saskatoon; Karen Deveau (Yosh) of Cranbrook; Don (Annette) of Kamloops; Mickey of Edgewater; Jim (Lana) of Edgewater; stepdaughter, June (Rex) McConnel of Hope; stepson, Peter (Nan) of Langley; brother, Gerhard of Langley; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held, April 17, at Mountain View cemetery, in Invermere, with Rev. Don Maione officiating.
