Wawryk, Verna Harriet

Verna Harriet Wawryk passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Dunrovin Park Lodge at the age of 92, resident of the Quesnel area for 60 years.
Verna is survived by her loving family, daughters, Leanna (Stuart); Janice (Mike); Alvina (Tim) and son, Roy (Heather).
Her first grandson, Kenneth (Lori), blessed her with 2 great-grandsons, Leon and Zachary.
Colin, Cody, Mark, Andy and Dustin - grandsons and Beatrice, Anne, Anna Lee, Shauna and Kerri - granddaughters were her pride and joy.
It is with extreme gratitude that we acknowledge the dedication and compassion of Dr. Fine and the staff of Dunrovin Park Lodge.
A memorial tea is planned for May 23rd, 2009, at the Golden Centre, 1-3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pallative Care Society would be greatly appreciated.
Plamondon, Viola Emma
October 28, 1921 - April 26, 2009
In Loving Memory - Viola Emma Plamondon (Trauter)
Viola was born on October 28, 1921, in Sceptre, Saskatchewan, and graduated to her heavenly home on April 26, 2009.
She is survived by her two sons, Ron (Heather) and Larry (Bev).
A memorial service for Viola, will be held on June 20 at 3 p.m. at the Sandman Hotel in Quesnel.
Sagar, Vivian Leigh (nee Werk)
February 12, 1948 - April 25, 2009
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Vivian Leigh Sagar (nee Werk).
Vivian was born February 12, 1948 and passed away on April 25, 2009.
Vivian was born in Vancouver, B.C., and was raised in Richmond.
She married George Sagar and they made their home in Ladner, B.C.
Together they raised her two daughters, Sarah Sagar and Melissa Sagar Garcia.
Vivian loved springtime, working in her garden, music, singing and crafts.
She cherished her many dear friends who loved to come by to visit and have coffee.
In March 2003, Vivian ventured North to Quesnel, to join her daughter, Melissa and son-in-law, Luis Garcia.
Within three weeks of arriving, she met her companion, Bill Manning and settled into a home in Red Bluff.
Everyone there was inspired by Vivian's gardens and friendship.
She had a passion for life and lending a helping hand.
She made everyone smile.
If she was having a tough day, Bill would sing to her and turn everything into roses.
Vivian's hugs and smiles will be greatly missed by her partner, Bill Manning, children, Sarah Sagar and Josh Boughen, Melissa Sagar Garcia, son-in-law, Luis Garcia and especially granddaughter, Nina Maria Garcia, sisters, Arlene McCarthy, Norma Werk and brother, Arthur Werk.
Vivian was predeceased by her father and mother, Arthur and Wilma Werk, and sister, Carolynn.
She always took time to smell the flowers and also knew how to make them bloom.
A memorial service will be held at Richmond Minoru Chapel on May 15, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Quesnel Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at GR Baker Memorial hospital in Quesnel, for caring for our mother and to our friends, many thanks for your support.
Lozier, Jack
October 18, 1928 - April 22, 2009
Jack Lozier was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, October 18, 1928, the second of five children born to Robert G. and Alice Bender Lozier.
He grew up in Cora, Wyoming.
In 1950, he was drafted and served in Korea in the 224th Infantry.
In 1954, he married Ellen Steele Mahaffey.
In 1967, they moved to Soda Creek, British Columbia, where they had bought a ranch and operated it until 1993, when he retired and moved to Kersley, British Columbia.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen, five children, Gary (Sharlene), Gayle, Becky Stilwell (Larry), Lynn Hannon (Sherman) and Deb (Joan).
Also eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four siblings, Bob, Betty, Dick (known as Cork) and Lary.
He was predeceased by his parents.
He died April 22, 2009 at Vancouver, British Columbia.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, May 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Lake Seniors' Activity Centre.
Stubbs, Gladys Constance

Connie passed away on April 20th, 2009, at Campbell River General Hospital, listening to music and in the arms of her daughter, Joanne.
She was predeceased by her husband, Denys Michael Stubbs; her parents, James and Agnes Guymer; her sister, Madge Currie; daughter-in-law, Brenda Stubbs; and two grandchildren, Allan and Kimmie Stubbs.
Connie is survived and will be greatly missed by her sons, Michael Stubbs (Laura) of Campbell River, B.C. and Robert Stubbs (Ruth) of Quesnel, B.C.; her daughters, Lynne Aspden (Bill) of Powell River, B.C., and Joanne Otto (David) of Campbell River, B.C., her grandchildren; Staci (Eric) Lemay, Jamie (Rhea) Otto, Chris Rhodes, Dianne (Chris) Lyons, Kyle Stubbs, and Daniel (Alex) Cunin, Chris (Paula) Cunin, her great-grandsons, Michael Anthony Otto and Ashton Mitchell Cunin Jamieson, as well as her nephews, David, Michael and Phillip Currie in Canada, with numerous relatives in England.
Connie served in England during WWII, where she worked to support the war effort at night by searching for survivors of bomb raids.
During the day, she worked as a riveter on airplanes and later, as a switchboard operator for the Armed Forces.
She also worked as a teletype operator in a top secret facility at King's College.
She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Connie was a dedicated wife and mother of four.
She worked for a short time for in Wabush, Labrador, and also for Wabush Mines, Labrador on switchboard and teletype.
Mom lived in Quesnel, from 1972-1987, and worked for the library (Cariboo Observer bldg.), for a short while, played darts, bowled and established friendships that continued long after she moved to Campbell River.
In her leisure time, Connie enjoyed traveling, bridge, games, music, dancing, darts, bowling, reading and family gatherings.
She was a great cook who never wrote down her recipes.
Connie had a strong love of family and was a good and supportive friend.
She had a keen sense of humour and loved April 1st - she never missed fooling her husband.
She found laughter and enjoyment wherever she went.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Sunshine Lodge, where she lived for almost 6 years, New Horizons Community of Care, where mom lived for the past year, and the staff of Campbell River General Hospital, 3 South and Dr. J. Coetzee.

The family regrets the sudden passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
We wish to thank Dr. Van Dyke, Dr. Martins, Dr. Walker, Dr. Aziz and the nurses of surgical and ICU for their wonderful care of Jim.
We would like to thank our families and friends for their love and support, for the food, the many cards and flowers.

To Ben Bell for the wonderful tribute.
To the Legion Honor Guard especially air cadet Cpl. Jake Lisk for honoring his great-grandfather and to the Legion Ladies Auxiliary for the tea.

Thomas Edward (Tom) Gamble passed away April 17, 2009 at the age of 81.
His loving good humor and great sense of fun is gravely missed by his wife of 59 years, Marion, and all his family and friends, especially his fishing and camping buddies.
Williamson, George Ross

George's family regretfully announces his passing after losing a courageous battle with cancer.
He is sorely missed by his sons, Shane (Stacey), Chris (Shannon) and daughter, Shannon (Scott) and George's seven grandchildren, all of Petawawa and Kingston, Ontario, and the rest of the family.
George is survived by his family, parents, Hazel and Earl, brothers, Roger (Lois) and Clarke (Doris), sister-in-law, Liz, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Rodney, in November 2006.
We wish to thank Dr. Dercksen, numerous nurses and hospital staff for the care they gave George.
We also are very grateful for the service held on April 11, provided by the Legion Branch 94 Executive and Staff, the Legion's Ladies Auxiliary, Padre Jim Vanderheyden, Wayne and Honey Affleck, who gave the eulogy, the Honour Guard and Quesnel Pipes and Drums.
We would like to thank all our family and friends for their support.
