In God's Arms
God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not meant to be.
So he wrapped you in His loving arms,
And whispered, "Come with Me".
You suffered much in silence,
Your spirit did not bend.
You faced you pain with courage,
Until the very end.
You tried so hard to stay with us,
Your fight was all in vain.
God took you in His loving arms,
And saved you from the pain. Thank You to all friends and family for all your support and prayers during this difficult time.
Forever in our Hearts

Newlove, Vera
(April 1st, 1925 - August 22nd, 2009)
We announce the passing of Vera Newlove at Heron Grove, on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009.
She was born Vera May in Leeds, Yorkshire, England.
Vera worked as a Civil Servant and later moved to Australia and Canada, finally settling in Vernon with her late husband, Donald.
Vera was a character and a real flirt with an outrageous sense of humor.
Fiercely independent, Vera was most reluctant to accept care from others.
She suffered brain damage, which often affected her ability to control her inside voice.
Vera is survived by two sisters, Lillian Livingston and Margaret Hart, both of England; several nieces and nephews; her brothers-in-law, Harry Newlove and John Newlove; Don's children, Christopher, Karen and Darlene; extended family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 1997.
Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel, on Thursday, August 27th, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Roy White officiating.
Placement of Vera's cremated remains will follow in the Bethel Rose Garden Of Remembrance.
Friends are then invited to a Reception in the Bethel Tea Room.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so, may send donations in memory of Vera to the St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 5151 Alain Road, Vernon, B.C. V1B 3K6 or the North Okanagan Therapeutic Riding Association, P.O. Box 328, Vernon, B.C. V1T 6M3.
Thanks to faithful friends from St. John's Lutheran Church, who have been a source of care and comfort as Vera's faith community.
Thank you to the staff at Heron Grove for your support.
Over many years, there have been people from government agencies, community nursing teams and businesses advocating for Vera and wanting to make life better for her.
Their best efforts were very often frustrated or declined as Vera continually chose to do life her way!
We have all learned many lessons during the years of participating in Vera's life.
Funeral arrangements have been made with BETHEL FUNERAL CHAPEL LTD., 5605-27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5

Winnie was born on a farm near Neudorf, Saskatchewan on June 26, 1934.
During her elementary years, she had to milk two cows and walk four miles to and from school each day.
At the young age of 14, she had to quit school and help in the family grocery store.
She moved with her parents and siblings to Enderby in 1954.
There, she met the love of her life, Gus, and were married in 1956.
Shortly thereafter, they moved to Albert Canyon, where Gus worked for CP Rail and they began their family.
In 1959, they moved to Rosebery, where they resided in the old railway house on Slocan Lake.
In 1969, Gus' work took the family to Enderby where they resided until 1984.
While there, Winnie loved spending time at home raising her five children which included spending many hours at the arena and ballpark, doing ceramics, canning fruit and vegetables and looking after and loving her family.
In 1984, Gus was transferred to Kamloops, with CP Rail where they resided until retirement in 1991.
In 1992, they moved to a beautiful lakefront home on the Arrow Lakes in Nakusp.
Here, Win spent many hours enjoying the simple things of life including the lake and mountain views, rock painting, playing the organ, and knitting (not only for family and friends but also for third world countries).
While in Nakusp, she received a lifetime membership with the Nakusp Seniors and in 1998, shared honours with Gus of being awarded "Citizens of the Year".
In 2003, they returned to Kamloops, to be more central to family.
Winnie was an unselfish person who loved unconditionally, a friend to everyone, and willing to help all those in need.
She devoted her heart, her life and her love to being a wife, a mother and a grandmother and will be greatly missed.
The Reverend Father Derrick Cameron will conduct a memorial service on Monday, August 31, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 635 Tranquille Road, Kamloops following cremation.

Ramsay, Leigh
October 21, 1958 - August 21, 2009
Beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Leigh Ramsay shone brightly, illuminating everything and everyone around her. She was the light in the room, a bright flame to whom we were all irresistibly drawn. She positively radiated vitality with her zest for life, wicked sense of humour and blonde, blue-eyed beauty.
Leigh departed from the world she so passionately loved on August 21st after a heroic, even inspired, battle with melanoma.
Lovely Leigh was born in Williams Lake, B.C., on October 21st, 1958, the youngest of five children. Her parents, Bill and May Ramsay, moved the family from Punzi Mountain to Summerland, B.C. in 1962. As an adult, Leigh later settled in Vernon.
She loved the outdoors from an early age. As a child, she was always outside, playing. That never changed. She was an accomplished hiker, backpacker, skier, runner and volleyball player.
Physical fitness was a big part of Leigh's life. After working for Queen Elizabeth Theatre Company in Vancouver, she trained to be a fitness instructor and rehabilitation therapy assistant. That lead her career in many directions: helping others as a personal trainer, leading exercise classes for the elderly and working as a recreation coordinator at a seniors' facility.
Leigh is survived by her devoted and beloved husband, Brian Gluschenko, her father Bill, sisters Sharon Farnsworth (Dale), Sandra Khalenbach (David) and Brenda, and brother Bill (Christine). Her mother May passed away in August of 2006.
Her sparkle will be terribly missed by Brian's family: Nancy and Paul Gluschenko, Valerie and Alex Berenyi, Derek Gluschenko and Karen Verbeek.
Leigh was treasured by her nieces and nephews: Shari, Desiree, Dustin, Jason, Tim, Kristie, Mike, Nicholas, Natasha, Madelaine and Lukas.
She also had an extensive network of friends that brought her a wealth of love and joy: the Circle of Friends and her hiking crew (Roz, Sheryl and Faye) and the dear friends she and Brian shared many dinners, laughs and travels with.
Brian extends his gratitude to her co-workers and all the residents at Canterbury Court for their tremendous support and kindness. Thank you especially Bert, Delene, Janet, Myrna Lea and Mary.
The family is thankful for the many doctors, nurses and caregivers who helped Leigh through treatment: Dr. Jennifer Byrnes, Dr. Chris Spooner, Dr. Ed Hardy, Dr. Susan Ellard, Dr. Juanita Crook and Colleen McEachran, along with the staff at the Vernon and Kelowna cancer clinics.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Leigh's life on Wednesday, August 26th (today) between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Paddlewheel Park Hall, 7801 Okanagan Landing Road.
"Pink is love," Leigh once said of her favourite colour. Please show your love for this vibrant wife, sister, aunt and friend by wearing something pink to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Save Your Skin Foundation
(www.saveyourskin.ca).

Dyley, Walter Stanley "Wally"
May 4, 1940 - August 21, 2009
Walter passed away quietly in the early hours of Friday morning, at Maple Ridge, B.C. He was predeceased by his wife Edna on March 9, 2009.
Wally was born Walter Stanley Dyley, in Shipman, Saskatchewan. At an early age his parents John and Sally, along with Walter, and his two siblings Helen and Nick moved to Armstrong B.C. and farmed at Otter Lake Crossroads and then at the Lansdowne area. As a youth, Walter excelled in sports, particularly baseball, where his size and presence soon had him playing in men's leagues.
Like many other teenagers at the time, Walter left home to find employment. One year he could be working on the gas pipeline in the Kootenays, and the next year at a sawmill in the Caribou. Walter would always make it back home to Armstrong, at least long enough to meet and "woo" his bride to be Edna Scheuller. Walter and Edna were married on Sept. 14th, 1966. The young couple resided in Merritt B.C., where Walter worked in the logging Industry, operating every piece of equipment imaginable. An opportunity to return to Armstrong allowed the young couple now with a daughter "Sandra", to be back with family and friends. They took up residence in Hullcar, and Walter began his 33-year career delivering fuel with Home Oil/ Esso Fuels. Walter made certain that the local farmers and mills had their fuel needs looked after, before he himself could head home.
Walter continued his love of sports now as an "observer", and if their was ever a need to find out an answer to a sports trivia question, it was to "Wally" that one went. Wally would watch competitive "piglet" racing if that was all that was on the television, but he was a fanatical fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs in hockey and Dodgers (Brooklyn and L.A.) in baseball. Walter also took up snowmobiling for awhile, and could be seen riding around the local area as well as at Hunter's Range.
The family moved into town (Armstrong), where Walter made it a point to visit his Mom every single evening, showing that the big rugged man, had a sensitive side to him. Due to health issues and a desire to be closer to daughter Sandra, son-in-law Clint, and grandchildren Josh and Mallory; Walter and Edna moved to Maple Ridge.
Retirement saw "Papa Wally" prefer to be a homebody, rather than venturing out into the Great Unknown. You could find him puttering around the back yard, or repairing anything from watches, to major appliances. Walter somehow managed to get them working again, when anyone else would have just thrown them out. And if he could not get something working again, he still found a home for it in his shop (just in case!). But Walter was most in his comfort zone sitting next to Edna, where he could continue his second career as a "Armchair Athlete".
The sudden passing of Wife Edna, found Walter being very lost. With the help and closeness of daughter Sandra and family, Walter continued his battle with cancer, for a few short months. In the end "Papa Wally" had given it all he had, and it was time to be back next to "Ma Ed".
