Abramenko, Stephen Gray (Steve)
December 18, 1948 - December 25, 2009
Stephen was born on December 18th, 1948, in Calgary, Alberta, and was called Home to be with his Lord on Christmas Day, December 25th, 2009, where he enjoyed his first Christmas in Heaven.
Steve will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ardy, who together would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this coming Sunday, January 3rd; their children, Rob (Angela) of Vernon, B.C. and Tanya of Coldstream, B.C.; four grandchildren, Hannah, Rachel, Jacob and Ashton; his mother, Audrey Abramenko of Grindrod, B.C.; his sister, Laurie (Gerry) Erker of High River, Alberta; his nieces, nephews and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Abramenko; and one sister, Barbara Abramenko-Metcalf.
Steve began his working career first as a licenced TV-Radio technician and then chose later to go into logging.
After being involved in a serious accident while logging, where he ended up losing his legs, he was forced to change occupations and became an Accountant, a profession which he remained in for the rest of his life.
Steve loved the outdoors and spent many hours boating, camping and enjoying family and friends.
He was a great lover of food and loved to cook.
Every Christmas, he enjoyed preparing the turkey and this Christmas Day was no different than any other.
He had just finished getting the turkey into the oven, when all of a sudden, he didn't feel good, and within hours after being rushed to the hospital, he died after suffering numerous cardiac arrests.
A private interment in the Coldstream Cemetery preceded a Celebration Of Steve's Life, which will be held at Vernon Full Gospel Church, 5871 Okanagan Landing Road, on Saturday, January 2nd, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. with Pastors Wilf Burger, Herb McCormack and George Shaw officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Steve to World Vision Canada, 2500-1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5T 0A7 or Go International Ministries, #65-2710 Allenby Way, Vernon, B.C. V1T 9P2.
Steve was so grateful for the blood that was made available to him after his logging accident.
A way in which his memory can be kept alive is for people to give the gift of life by being blood donors.
"See ya later crew!"
