PETERSON, Harold
December 30, 1931 - November 19, 2009
PETERSON, Harold William (Bill) passed away peacefully on November 19, 2009, at Peace Arch Hospital with his daughter at his side.
Bill was born in Duncan, moved to Victoria, and then to the Lower Mainland in 1966.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; son, Ian (Cher); daughters, Ann, Cheri, Christine (Chris); grandchildren, Brian, Vanessa, Shae, Sarah, Alex, Jonathan, Timothy and Tamara.
Bill had a long career with the Workers Compensation Board prior to retirement.
Bill was an avid wood carver, his favourite being carving toys for his grandchildren.
Bill was very involved with White Rock Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service was held at White Rock Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, followed by interment at Victory Memorial Park Cemetery.

NICHOLSON, William Victor
January 15, 1924 - November 19, 2009
Nick has left a very sad family after his 4 1/2-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Prince Rupert, on January 15, 1924, and he died at home on November 19, 2009.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Betty Cumming, three sons, Glen (Roxanne), Brian (Janice) & John, and three grandchildren, Michael, Chanel and Mariah.
He touched many people and organizations in his time, in North Vancouver, Trail, Kimberley, and White Rock, where they retired.
He will be remembered by his North Shore school chums, his U.B.C. VOC friends, his Cominco associates, his Rossland and Kimberley, ski friends, South Surrey Garden Club Members, friends in TALK (Third Age Learning at Kwantlen), and many others along the way.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gibbings, Dr. Pretty and his surgeon Dr. Granger, the South Fraser Home Health Services, and West Coast Health Care Services, who made it possible for him to spend his last days peacefully at his home.
A donation to the B.C. Cancer Society would always be appreciated.
A celebration of Nick's life will be held in the Cote d'Azure room at the Pacific Inn, 1160 King George Highway, South Surrey at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, November 28th.
For his friends in the Interior, a celebration is planned in the Kootenays in the springtime.
HINKELMAN, Walter
March 10, 1926 - Nov. 12, 2009
Walter Wilfred Hinkelman passed away peacefully at his home in White Rock, B.C., on Nov. 12, 2009.
Walter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Merle (nee Livingston); children, Barb (Wayne), Bob (Joy), Terry (Shirley), Fay (Dave) and Jill (Joe); grandchildren, Warren (Stephanie), Jessica, Jordan, Briana, Carling, Lissa (Justin), Gemma, Julia, Graham and Rachel; great-grandson, Cole; his sister, Ida; aunt, Olga; and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by brothers, Herbert and Daniel.
Walter was a caring wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.
He will be dearly missed by all.
Dad was born on March 10, 1926 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, and grew up on the family farm in nearby Ogema, where he graduated from high school.
His family then moved from Saskatchewan, to Manitoba, where he met Merle and together, they raised their children.
Dad partnered with his family and together, they farmed and operated a heavy equipment construction company for many years in Manitoba.
In 1971, Dad and his brothers all moved to the White Rock/Surrey area, where Dad was active in the local business community until retiring in 1995.
Dad was an avid golfer and curler throughout his life. He enjoyed these activities with family and friends at local golf courses and the Peace Arch Curling club over the years.
Thank you to Dr. Prentice and to the staff of South Fraser Support Society for their compassionate care.
A service of remembrance will be held at Crescent United Church (2756 127th St. Surrey) on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2:00 p.m.

OLSON, Hazel Irene (McElroy)
June 23, 1924 - November 11, 2009
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our much loved mother/grandmother/sister/aunt/friend.
Hazel was born in Eston, Sask., and moved to Vancouver, as a young woman.
She married Ken Olson and they set up home in Surrey, where they lived until they retired to White Rock.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Whalley Presbyterian Church, 13062 - 104th Avenue, Surrey, V3T 1T7.

LAWRENCE, Gwendolen "Wendy", born January 26, 1924, in England, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2009.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Glenn and her close friends.
Wendy was an avid gardener and a member of the English and Vancouver Rose Societies, Spinners and Weavers and served with the WAAF in World War ll.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28th Avenue, Surrey, B.C.

Our beloved Mom, Oma and friend, passed away peacefully November 8th, 2009, at Peace Arch Hospital.
Veronica was an artist who loved the little things in life.
Her treasures were her daughters, Bettina (Troy) and Claudia (Hugh) and her grandchildren, Sabina, Hannah, Lucas, Liam and Megan.
She loved her friends, walks at the beach, gardening, and painting.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Finley Pavillion and Buena Vista House.
A memorial service will be held Wed., Dec 2nd, 2009, at the Salvation Army Church, 15417 Roper Avenue, White Rock.

SATTERFIELD (nee Dunn), Doreen Margaret, passed away peacefully Nov. 7, 2009.
Doreen was born in Victoria, B.C., on April 27, 1911.
Predeceased by her first husband, George Lancelot Smith, in 1941.
She then was predeceased by her second husband, Harold Albert Satterfield, in 2002, and her son, Donald Roy Smith, in 2006.
She is survived by her son, Terrence (Terry) Victor Smith, three grandchildren, Susan Stonner (Frank) of Kelowna, B.C., Brian Smith (Patti) of Surrey, B.C., and David Smith-Pelekai (Jan) of Hawaii, U.S.A., and seven great-grandchildren, Gregory, Jennifer, Kristina, Wayne, Ayanna, Kalena and Kawike, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no service at her request.
Arrangements are being handled by Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, Surrey, B.C.
