It is with sadness that we announce the sudden death of John in Peace Arch Hospital.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Doreen, sons, Brian (Claire) and Graham, daughters, Kathryn Zastera (Jan) and Eleanor, seven grandchildren, Liam, Paige, Connor, Julianne, Zak, Jazmin and Kamila and sister, Pat Muir (Jim).
Funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Good Shepherd Church, 2250 150th St., Surrey.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Canadian Food for Children at canadianfoodforchildren.org.

MacKENZIE, Hubert Norman
2 April 1922 - 4 November 2009
Hubert (Hue) MacKenzie died in Laurel Place Hospice, Surrey, of mesothelioma. Survived by wife, Jo Ann (Murray), step-daughters, Linda Murray, Fruitvale, and Carol Murray, Quadra Island.
Hue was born in Vancouver, graduated from Burnaby South High School, 1940; served in the Canadian Army, 1942 to 1946; graduated from University of British Columbia, 1949; retired from Supply and Services Canada (Ottawa) as statistician and Chief of Section, 1980.
While in Ottawa, Hue was active in the Ottawa Field Naturalists Club, serving as Vice-President in 1966, and President from 1967-69.
In 1979, the Ottawa Field-Naturalists' Club, the oldest and largest regional natural sciences organization in Canada, celebrated the centennial of its founding.
Hue planned and guided the many events of the year-long celebration.
In 1983, he was named Honourary Member, presented in recognition of outstanding contributions by a member or non-member to Canadian natural history or to the successful operation of the Club. Hue was also a Life Member of the Ontario Field Ornithologists and American Birding Association.
Hue and Jo Ann moved from Nepean, Ontario to Burnaby, in August, 1983, settling in south Surrey in 1985.
Hue became active in the Vancouver Natural History Society, White Rock and Surrey Naturalists and was a founding member of the British Columbia Field Ornithologists, 1991.
Thanks to the staff of Hilltop Medical Clinic, South Surrey; Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock; Laurel Place Hospice, and the Workers' Compensation Board of B.C.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the reception room of Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831-28 Avenue, Surrey, on November 21, at 2 p.m.
Donations may be made in Hue's name to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, www.natureconservancy.ca .

Much loved father, relative and friend.
Survived by his daughters, Karen (Peter) and Beverly; sons, Grant (Robin) and Kurt; also 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife, Carol, and son, Ward.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 21, at 4:30 p.m. at 1730 Kitchener Street, Vancouver.
TILBY, Kathleen Marie (nee Morran)
October 17, 1952 - July 19, 2009
It's with great sadness, that we announce the sudden & unexpected passing of Kathy Tilby on July 19, 2009, in Genelle.
She was born on October 17, 1952.
Kathy was a wonderful mom to Steven (Heather), Diane (Darcy) and Judy (Elmir), Gramma to Nicholas, Isaac and Aidan, and wife to Ray.
She was deeply loved, had a good, kind spirit and a heart of gold.
She will be missed, but never forgotten.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Frank and June.
She is survived by brother Bob (Pat), sister Pat (Gerry), brother Ken (Lori), and brother, Jamie (Lynn); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
May She Rest In Peace.
A gathering in Kathy's honour will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch No. 11 in Trail, on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 5:00 p.m.

PRESCOTT, Elizabeth Abbott Redelings, passed peacefully at Richmond General, at 8:22 a.m., on Sunday, July 19.
A Celebration of Life will be held: Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at First Memorial, Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C.
Elizabeth Abbott Redelings Prescott, B.Sc., M.Sc. was born on November 30, 1916, at Rochester, Minnesota, daughter of Dr. Leslie Hall Redelings and Gertrude Abbott Redelings.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Standish Prescott, after 65 years of marriage.
She leaves a daughter, Jean Elizabeth Prescott Browning (Stuart), and step-grandchildren, David, Anthony and Jason Browning.
She also leaves a son, William Standish Prescott (Valerie), a granddaughter, Sarah Grace Prescott, and a grandson, Mark James Prescott, also a brother, William Redelings.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Redelings (Marcia) and her sister, Margaret Redelings Yadon.
She leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
She was a scholar, a wonderful loving wife, a caring mother, a devoted friend and homemaker.

MILLER, George Wallace Naismith
January 5, 1918 - July 16, 2009
George was born in Bo'ness, Scotland, January 5, 1918, and passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, age 91, at Rosewood Manor, Richmond, B.C., daughter, Shirley by his side, his grandchildren and other relatives having visited in the hours before.
George fought a valiant battle with the complications of pneumonia the past several weeks.
Predeceased by Sylvia (Solvei Reksten), his loving wife of 59 years in 2006.
Survived by his loving family, daughter, Shirley Poupart, grandchildren, Bobby, Janet, and Sandy Poupart; sisters, Betty and Nan; sisters-in-law, Mary, Nessie, and Thelma; many dear nephews and nieces, including Don Reksten (Leona), Judy (Dave) Burton, and Sue La Pierre.
Also predeceased by his sister, Jean, brothers, Alec, John, Hugh, and Jim.
George was very proud of his Scottish heritage, his 10-year service in the British Merchant Navy, which included troop carrying duties during WW II, becoming an engineer, and his 35 years with B.C. Hydro.
He immigrated to Canada, in 1947, married Sylvia, and settled in Richmond.
George thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was a devoted caregiver to his wife for many years.
He always made sure that he took very good care of his family.
Thank you to the kind and thoughtful Staff of Rosewood Manor for their exceptional care during George's time there.
A celebration of George's life will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond, B.C.
