McDermid, Kathleen Patricia
May 5, 1921 - June 10, 2009
With deep sadness we announce the passing of Kathleen Patricia McDermid (nee Lane).
Born in Lindsay, Ontario, on May 5, 1921, she moved to Watford, England, with her parents and 4 siblings as a young child.
Kathleen (Kay) returned to Canada in 1946, as a war bride.
She is survived by Garnet (husband of 64 years), son, Ian (McDermid), daughter-in-law, Leslie (Konkin), daughter, Barbara (Barker) and son-in-law, John Barker; grandchildren, Daniel Barker and spouse, Sarah Fisher; Michael McDermid; Ashley Barker and fiancé; Byron Coggin; Ainsley Beattie (nee McDermid) and husband; Timber Beattie; great-grandchildren, Kaya, Sam and Michaela; sister, Hilda still residing in England, and many nieces and nephews.
Known fondly by her husband as "Katie" we will miss her deep devotion to Garnet and to her family, always putting others first.
She had an intense love of nature and all God's creatures.
To honor Kay's life, come join us in her garden on Saturday, June 27 between 1 and 3 p.m.
Donations can be made to B.C.SPCA or Critter Care Wildlife, in lieu of flowers.

Passed away in Surrey on June 6, 2009, at the age of 79.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Predeceased by her youngest son, Andrew.
Survived by son, Lorie; 2 sisters, Lorna and Geraldine; family friend, Kusum; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Fleetwood Place, 16011-83 Ave, Surrey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

ELLIS, Dorothy

Dorothy Ellis passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at the age of 89, in Langley Memorial Hospital.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Ellis; parents, Walter and Violet Scott and sister, Helen Dickson.
She left behind her loving son and granddaughter, Jim and Lauren Hammersley, and many family and friends.
Dorothy served for Canada during the Second World War with St. John's Ambulance in England with courage and dedication.
She received an award of appreciation for her efforts from the Governor General of Canada in 2005 in Ottawa.
A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at The Renaissance Inn, 6676-203 St. Langley, June 14, 2009 at 1:30 pm.
PROKOP, Nick
May 26, 1933 - June 3, 2009
Passed away on June 3, 2009, at Surrey Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy and courageous battle against heart and respiratory failure.
(He spent most of the last 10 months in hospital).
He is predeceased by his wife, Audrey in 2005, and will be lovingly remembered by his sons: Jim (Carol), Barry (Kathy) and daughter, Dixie (Keith); three grandchildren, Tom, Jessica and Julian, Nick's remaining siblings, Olga, Julia, Cassie, Helen and Sally; extended family relatives; dear friends and neighbours; also his co-workers from Sears, where Nick worked for more than 40 years.
Nick was born in Hafford, Saskatchewan, on May 26, 1933, and came to Vancouver, as a teenager.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009, at 2:30pm at the chapel of Valley View Funeral Home, 14660-72 Avenue, Surrey, B.C.
The family wish to thank the Staff of SMH ICU dept. and those on the 4th floor.

It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden passing of Grant Kirby Kazakoff on June 1, 2009.
Born December 1, 1965, he left us much too young.
Grant was a kind and gentle soul.
To those whose lives he touched, he will be forever loved and forever missed.
Grant leaves behind the "lights of his life", daughters, Taylor and Ashley; his mom & dad, Vivienne and Tom; his sister and brother-in-law, Kimberley and Larry; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He will also be missed by Sheba and Harley his "best buddies".
Memorial to be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 1:30pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #6 in Cloverdale.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Payge.
She is predeceased by her father, Dave Williams; grandfathers, Jesse Bourne and Henry Sklar; great-grandmother, Pearl Harper; uncle, Brad Sklar.
Payge is survived by mother, Cheryl (Al) Smith; father, Pete Sklar; children, Jevin, Shaydyn, Keighgan and Kade; siblings, Jay, Candice and Lisa Smith; grandmothers, Elizabeth Bourne and Shirley Sletten; and those many friends who helped her in her journey, we hope she has helped these people as well.
A memorial service will be held today at 1pm, June 10th from the chapel at Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288 108 Ave, Surrey.
The Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

JOHN ROBERT WILSON
July 5, 1948 - May 27, 2009
Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
John was predeceased by his dad, Jack and his sister, Lindy.
He is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Roberta, his sons, Steven Wilson and Derrick Wilson; his mother, Thelma Wilson; his sisters, Sheila Engh (Chris), Ann Bohl (Chris) and Laurie Adams (Reg); his brother, Jim Wilson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
John retired from B.C. Ferries after 35 years.
John and Roberta moved to Courtenay, from Cloverdale, 4 years ago.
The family would like to thank the Comox Valley Hospice Society, St. Joseph's Hospital Cancer Clinic and Dr. Theresa Wilson.
There will be a Celebration of John's Life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6th, 2009, from the Black Creek Hall, 2001 Black Creek Road, Black Creek, B.C.
If friends so wish, donations in John's name made to the Comox Valley Hospice Society or the Cancer Clinic at St. Joseph's Hospital would be appreciated.
