Desmond Wickstrom
February 27, 1921 - October 13, 2007
Desmond Fredrick Wickstrom of Kamloops BC, passed away on October 13, 2007 at 86 years of age. Survived by his loving wife Margaret “Peggy” children, Patricia (Dave) Gorton of Aldergrove BC, Lorraine ( Chris) Trautwein of San Anselmo California, Ted (Kim) Wickstrom of Medicine Hat Alberta, Kenneth Wickstrom of Vancouver BC and Lisa Francis of Vancouver BC, seven grandchildren Rory and Britta Gorton, Joellen (Plett), Brent Wickstrom, Angela Gordon, Nadia Trautwein, Neysa Siefert two great grandchildren Lexi and Ethan Plett of Calgary and one brother David Wickstrom.
Predeceased by his parents Fredrik and Emma, Wickstrom sisters Eva Hansen Wilma Greveling, Irene Otterbine and Helen Rawson brothers Holger, Wilfred, Philip, Arnold and Henry Wickstrom.
Desmond was born and raised on Robbins Range. He served his Country during WWII with the Algonquin Regment and was wounded in Germany during the liberation of Holland. He later married Margaret Muir “Peg” on March 30, 1951 in Victoria and moved to Kamloops in May of 1952, this is where they built one of first Veterans’ homes in Dallas residing there for 40 years, starting a family and raising five children.
Desmond worked for the Kamloops School Board at Lloyd George Elementary, where he was affectionetly known as “Sam”. He was a avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling, golf, pool, cross-country skiing and a good game of bocci in the cow pasture at Campbell Lake.
A Service of Remembrance will take place on Thursday October 18, 2007 at 2:00pm in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Patricia McColl officiating.
Special thanks to the staff of Pine Grove Extended Care Centre for the love and care given to Des during his stay.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pine Grove Extended Care Center in memory of Desmond.
George S. Hamilton
August 30, 1954 - October 22, 2007
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Stanley Hamilton on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 52 years of age. He leaves to mourn his mother Doreen, brother James, daughter Amanda, grandmother Peggy Roba, numerous cousins and many friends, all of whom knew and respected him for his many talents, especially for his mechanical knowledge. He loved working with machines and helped many people who called on him for his mechanical expertise.
The family will receive friends at a viewing for George on Monday, October 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive.
NORMAN FRASER MACRAE
July 6, 1914 – October 23, 2007
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Norman MacRae. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nina; children Wayne MacRae, Judy Slater (Bob), Janie Goupil (Bill), Bob MacRae (Debbie), Murray MacRae (Melody), and Sally Rolfes (Joe); twelve grandchildren Joey, Jay, Jo-Anne, Christy, Jennifer, Scott, Nicole, Michelle, Christopher, Laura, Kayla and Sam; five great grandchildren Brenden, Alex, Brielle, Tyler and Ayla; her Sisters Jean and Lorna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by grandson Jason MacRae.
Norman was born in Cayley, Alberta and moved to Athabasca, Alberta at a very young age. He met his wife Nina in Athabasca where she was on her first teaching job. They moved to Calgary after their second child was born. Norman worked for the city of Calgary as a welder until his retirement in 1970. They moved to Burns Lake, Sicamous, and Athabasca, before settling in Kamloops in 1983.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2007 in Berean Baptist Church, 453 Linden Avenue, with Pastor Mahlon Horton officiating.
Viewing will take place on Friday, October 26, from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, in the Rosewood Room at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Drive.
The family would appreciate flowers or donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, in memory of Norman MacRae.

Joseph Yanchuk
April 19, 1930 - November 25, 2007
Joseph Yanchuk of Kamloops passed away on November 25, 2007 at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his partner Vivian Hansberry; step-son Bob Clark of Chilliwack; his brothers Mathew ( Margaret) Yanchuk of Kamloops, Nick (Pea) Yanchuk of Port Coquitlam, and John (Janet) Yanchuk of Kamloops; sisters Rose( Bill) Kazakoff of Surrey, Eunice (Jim) French of Burnaby; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, and many great friends whose company he enjoyed over the years.
Predeceased by his wife Iris Yanchuk (nee Clarke), his parents Mary and Harry Yanchuk and nephew Daniel Kazakoff.
Joe was born on April 19, 1930 in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan where he attended Edmore School until 1939 when he and his family moved to Vancouver BC. There he attended Lord Selkirk Elementary and then John Oliver High where he excelled as the “Catcher” for the baseball team and also in soccer. From there, Joe went on to play Pro Baseball for two years as the “Catcher” for the Eugene Oregon team with his lifelong friend Ron Kurby (the Pitcher). Joe returned to Vancouver for seven more years and worked at both CP Transport and Skilling Bros. Transport. Along with some of his family, Joe moved to Kamloops in 1960 to become the new owners of the Franklin Hotel. Joe was the Manager for 15 years, meeting many more new friends. He carried on to work at the Kamloops Curling Club for nine years, then as Manager at the Kamloops Golf and Country Club for five years and finally, as Manager of the North Kamloops Curling Club until his retirement in 1998. Joe enjoyed and spent many, many great days on the golf course as well as at his (JOE FISH’S) cabin on the Little Shuswap Lake with many friends and relatives who will always remember the fun that was had by all!!

KATHLEEN CHARLOTTE LEE (NEE NOBLE)
June 16, 1937 - November 20, 2007
Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Kathleen “Charlotte” Lee (nee Noble) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Royal Inland Hospital on November 20, 2007.
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of 51 years William “Bill” Lee, her children Lynne Berndt of Creston B.C., Gordie Lee (Pat Isherwood) of Hinton A.B., Lyle (Brigitte) Lee also of Hinton A.B., her grandchildren Deanna (Wayne) Smith, Derrick Lee, Craig and Mandy Berndt, Jaidyn and Brennen Lee, great grandchildren Austin, Alyssa and Alanna Smith. Charlotte is also survived by her brothers Ken (Peggy) Noble of Port Alberni B.C. and Richard (Kenda) Noble of Powell River B.C. as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was predeceased by her father Arthur Noble in 1984, her mother Kathleen Noble (nee Morrow) in 1993 and her baby granddaughter Kathleen Berndt in 1988.
Charlotte was born June 16, 1937 in Medicine Hat Alberta. At a young age the Noble family settled at Lee Lake Alberta where her family farmed for many years. The family then moved to Bellevue Alberta in the Crowsnest Pass where Charlotte at the age of 14 met and fell in love with a boy from Blairmore, Bill Lee. They dated for many years and married on May 12, 1956.
Once married, they traveled extensively working in construction and mining, eventually retiring in Kamloops in 1998.
Charlotte’s passion in life was her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were always a priority in her life.
The Lee family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors who cared for Mom at the RIH. A very special thanks goes out to Sue in emergency and Shelby, Nicole and Roland on 3 west for making mom’s last days comfortable and peacefully. Also a very special thank you to Dr. Mia, Dr. Mosewich and Dr. Navratil for the wonderful care given to our wife and mother over the last 10 years. A special mention and thank you to Dr. Brian Westerberg and Cindy Gustin of St. Pauls Hospital in Vancouver for giving Charlotte the gift of hearing through the Cochlear Ear Implant for the past 3 years.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to do so, donations can be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Association.
The Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 24, 2007 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel with Mary Widmer officiating. Cremation to follow.
