Jerry passed into eternity among family and friends on December 30, 2008 at the Kamloops Hospice House.
Jerry is survived by his wife Joanne; sons Jeremy (Sherry), Wade (Gaylene), and Brodie; stepsons Nathan (Jennifer) and Beau (Christy); and 15 grandchildren, Patrick, Zachary, Abigail, Roman, Genesis, Jillian, Sara, Hunter, Kayla, Deven, Tai, Isabella, Riley, Liam and Tristan.
He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Hubert (Gloria), and Denis (Sheila) and sisters Clemence Tucker, Toni (Ted) Smith and Lucille Badgley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Hercule & Therese Plante, brother Remie Plante, brother in-law Floyd Tucker and grandson Keagan Plante.
Jerry was born in The Pas, Manitoba on December 19, 1952 – the youngest of seven children.
He always loved the outdoors and had the “heart of a cowboy.” He spent many happy hours at his sister’s farm and hunting with his friend Greg at Moose Lake.
Jerry and his family moved to Kamloops in 1978. He spent 32 years working for the CNR before retiring due to illness in 2007.
Jerry spent many years cowboying at the Corbould Ranch, fulfilling his boyhood dreams. He was happiest riding his horses in the back country, skiing at Tod Mountain, and hunting with his buddy Ross. He called himself “the original bush ape.”
Jerry always kept his sense of humour, had great faith in God and always had a positive attitude. He was a great example of patience and faith to us all. He loved his God and his family and friends – always there with encouragement and a listening ear.
A special thanks to our church family, staff at the Cancer Clinic, the “angels” at Hospice House, Harry and Sharon Funk, Vic and Caroline Anderson and all our prayer warriors.
A Celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, 1550 Tranquille Road, Kamloops BC, with Pastor Darrell Hellquist officiating.
