BIELESCH - Barbara (nee Dasch) passed away in Burnaby May 8th, 2000. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan November 13th, 1910. She is survived by one brother, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 4851 Beatrice St., Vancouver on Friday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park. BUCKSHAW - John passed away suddenly May 8th, 2000 in Vancouver, B.C. Predeceased by his special friend Sandra Williams and sister Elizabeth. Survived by loving sons, Christopher and Jordan, their mother Lynn, sisters Agnes, Margaret, Julie, Lillian, Mary and brother Julius, and many nieces, nephews and very close friends. John was a 39 year employee of Dueck on Marine. He was a loving dad, and a caring and giving person who never asked for anything in return. CONNOLLY - Frederick Arthur Henry, February 3, 1923 to May 8, 2000. Uncle Fred passed away peacefully in his sleep after an extended illness. He is predeceased by sisters, Joyce and Grace and brother George. Survived by brothers Stewart and Robert, along with his many loving nieces and nephews and their children. Fred was a devoted Christian and very supportive of church organizations. For all the wonderful memories he has left with his family and friends, he will be sorely missed. DOWNS - Nicholas Ian, just 16 years old, died suddenly in a car accident on the Upper Levels Highway in the early hours of Sunday, May 7th, 2000. Nick is survived by his parents, Ian and Debbie; little sister Lauren; grandparents Jean Downs, Noreen Butt and Stan Nicholson; uncles, aunts and cousins. He was truly a lovely young man, our Nick. He weathered more than a few storms in his short life with grace, dignity and tremendous sensitivity. We are all going to miss him. Nick's family would like to express how touched they are at the overwhelming outpouring of love and support Nick's friends and our community have shown. Thank you. GUTHRIE - Kathleen May (nee Morris). Born May 12, 1916, passed away May 8, 2000, after a long struggle with her health. "Katie" will always be remembered by her husband Sam (always at her side); daughter Arlene (Steve) Modderman; daughter Trolene (Al) Nyberg; daughter Sharon (Art) Wayman; grandchildren Chris (Mahara), Carey (Dave), Sherri (Blair) and Matt; great-grandchildren Justin, Tory and Sophia. "Granny" was predeceased by grandson Carl. Predeceased also by her brother Sonny and sister Phyllis. She is survived by sister Sylvia and brother Albert. Born in Vancouver, she spent her early childhood in Prince Rupert and entered Grade One at Swanson Bay School. One year later the family returned to Vancouver, where she lived until moving to Victoria in 1959. Kay was an avid knitter who loved to cook and bake and look after her home. Her life was for her family. She loved to go for drives and her favorite shopping trip was to the grocery store. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Thank you to Dr. Hartrick and the nurses and staff at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital for your special care. HENDERSON - Dr. Robert Brenton died on May 8th, 2000, surrounded by family and friends in the Ridge Meadows Hospital, Maple Ridge, after a brief battle with cancer. Born on April 3rd, 1934 in Brookfield, Nova Scotia. He was the beloved son of the late Donald Brenton and Marjorie Forbes (Campbell) Henderson. He is survived by his mother, brothers Terry (Mary) of Brookfield, Donald "Turk" (and companion Lesley Harvey) of Brule and Calgary, Phil (Judy) of Halifax, Mike (Brenda) of Brookfield, sister Judy (Hugh) Matheson of Brookfield, sister-in-law Helene of Brookfield, and adopted cousins Bob (Linda) Campbell of Brookfield and Nancy (Greg) Van Tassell of Brookfield. He is also loved by 28 nieces and nephews and 26 grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his father Donald, brother Colonel Ned, sister-in-law Vera Mae and nephew Ted. Bob was an inspiration to the entire family and his love of fun and games will never be forgotten. He graduated from Mt. Allison University, (BA), Weyburn Psychiatric Hospital (RN), University of Manitoba (B.Sc), and the Dalhousie School of Medicine, Class of '63. Bob worked for the United Church of Canada's Mission Field until 1980. He spent 5 years in Queen Charlotte City and 12 years in Waglisla (Bella Bella), B.C., 10 years practice in Granlsle followed; and he finished his career in Maple Ridge, retiring in March. Bob was a true humanitarian. A sensitive and humble person, Bob loved people. He was often the only medical practitioner in the isolated communities he served. Adopted by several families, he was also a foster parent and life long friend to a great many of the Haida and Heiltsuk Nations. The Heiltsuk showed their love and respect by making him a full-fledged honorary Chieftain and will hold a memorial feast later this month in Bella Bella. A memorial service will be held at the Garden Hill Funeral Home, 11765 - 224 Street, Maple Ridge on Saturday, May 13th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation, Maple Ridge, in c/o The New CAT-SCAN Fund.
