CLARKE - Mildred "Louise" passed away peacefully on January 2, 2001 after a dignified battle with cancer. She was the guiding light of our family and will be dearly missed by her husband of 52 years, Ralph; 2 sons, Rick (Debbie), Bill (Wanda), and daughter Nancy (Tom) Priest; 4 grandchildren, Sherri, Paul, Jeffrey, Shelby, and great-grandson Devin. Louise enriched the lives of everyone she touched. Memories of her gracefulness, gentleness and unconditional love will remain in the hearts of her family always. Cremation, Valley Crematorium. CONLIN - Rita (nee Tuffley) passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital on January 2, 2001. Rita was born in Taber, Alberta on January 18, 1920. Predeceased by her husband Richard Arnold. Lovingly remembered by her children Richard (Diane), Bill (Nancy), Leigh (Trisha) and Joanne (Bruce); 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also survived by Rita's sister Freda Green of Calgary and many friends and relatives. Rita was an active member of the local Lioness Club and we would like to thank them for their support. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Peace Arch Hospital for their kindness and care. And also to the Wade's for their support and kindness. DESIMONE - Robert John, passed away peacefully at home on January 3rd, 2001, at the age of 46, after a courageous battle with cancer. ELLIS - J. F. (Jack), born April 22, 1914 in Prince Rupert, gently passed away December 27, 2000 in Vancouver. Predeceased by his mother Muriel, father Franklin and brother Don. Survived by niece Susan, her son Ryan, cousins Rowan and Mike, Aunt Helen and Sonia Ellis. Jack, a legendary figure in the golf community, prominent businessman, was past president, board member and honorary life member at Marine Drive Golf Club. A memorial to celebrate Jack's life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2001 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Chapel, 602 Kingsway, Vancouver, with reception to follow at Marine Drive Golf Club at 3:00 pm. HAZZARD - Leonard Charles passed away suddenly on January 3rd, 2001, in Surrey, BC. Survived by his loving wife, work partner and best friend, Shirley; his sons, Neil (Michele), and Bob (Carolyn), and daughter, Laura; grandchildren, Jeff, Tanya, Jay, Brody, Holly and Graeme; and his sisters, Eileen and Joyce, and brothers, Stan (Armella) and Russell. Len was born in Piapot, Saskatchewan on August 18th, 1931 and grew up in Prince Albert. In 1947, at 16, he set out on the train for Vancouver. The next year he began a 24 year career at Woodwards beginning on the food floor and settling in the advertising department. In 1954, in their kitchen, he and his first wife Fay set up a sideline career of silkscreen printing. By 1972 he left Woodwards and opened LC Hazzard Screenprinting, a thriving business which he proudly shared with his sons. Len was greatly respected by all and was well known for his generosity. He was an active and dedicated member of the Pacific Model A Car Club - his pride and joy was his 1930 Model A Ford. He was an avid skier, and had held his private pilot's license, he loved music, antique cars, Hawaiian vacations and especially his home in the country. A Celebration of Len's life will be held on Sunday, January 7th at 1 p.m. in the Panorama Room at the Hazelmere Country Club, 18150 - 8th Ave., Surrey, BC. KELLEY - Sally Jeanne passed away at UBC Hospital December 24th, 2000. Sally was born in Scotland July 12th, 1919 and came to Canada with her mother at a young age. She lived for many years in Kerrisdale and has many friends in that area. Sally was predeceased by her dear friend, Margaret (Meg) Dick, and she had a soft spot in her heart for children and cats. MODEQUILLO - Deanna Rose passed away early January 2nd, 2001 in the presence of her loving family. She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 31 years, Don Sr. She will be forever missed by her children: Raymond (Holley), Michael (Amanda), Wendy (Randy) and Donald Jr. Loved dearly by her grandchildren, Amanda, Leanne, Marcie, Samuel, Michael Jr. and her great-grandchild Brianna. "Joey" will be sadly missed by her mother Dorothy (Alfred), and her sister Arlene (Gordon), as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father Stanley. Deanna Rose showed incredible strength and courage with her battle with cancer starting in March 2000. Every day was a challenge which she conquered with grace and integrity. Her everlasting devotion and passion towards her family, especially her grandchildren, was apparent to anyone who knew her.
