EDWARDS - Muriel, born in Sunderland, England on February 17, 1937, died at home in North Vancouver on October 3, 2000. Muriel emigrated to Canada from Britain in 1959 after becoming a Registered Nurse (RN). Her early years were spent working at VGH in the operating rooms. In the company of free spirited friends, she enjoyed the outdoor pleasures of the North Shore: hiking, skiing and sailing. It was here that she met her husband-to-be Ray. They worked and played there for two years before returning to Canada. Their children Claudia and Guy were born in Vancouver but in 1972 wanderlust struck again and they journeyed to New Zealand for a two-year sojourn. They returned to live in North Vancouver and in 1976 Muriel went to work as an OR Nurse at B.C. Children's Hospital. Muriel loved her work and friends at Children's. She retired only in June of this year. Possessor of a youthful vitality, her other passions included Kayaking, x-country skiing, long hikes and Scottish Country dancing.
