HIROTA - Hayao "Charlie." Born January 25th, 1910, passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2001 in Richmond, B.C. He is survived by his wife Tetsuko (Obayashi); sons, Jackson (Gladys) of Nanaimo, Ted (Nancy) of Windsor, Ontario; and daughter, Eileen (Brian) of Calgary, Alberta; 6 grandchildren, Jonathan and Matthew Hirota, Susan (Mark), and Sandra Hirota, Karin and Mike Gilchrist; and 1 great-granddaughter, Alexandra Lucier. Also he is survived by 2 sisters in Japan. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 12th, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Steveston United Church, 3720 Broadway St., Richmond, B.C. Reception to follow. Predeceased by his son Dennis and grandson Trevor, Donald is survived by his beloved wife Jean of 56 years; his children Murray (Lynn), Donna, Brian (Arden), Patricia (Bruce), Martin (Janice); daughter-in-law Joanne; 14 grandchildren, sisters Vi (Dave) Mallet and Dorothy (Lloyd) Devlin. DELF - Jack Born in Saskatoon August 3, 1908, passed away peacefully January 9, 2001 at Vancouver General Hospital in his 93rd year. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife Mary, and his son Brian. He is survived by his sister Marjorie Campbell, his 3 sons (Michael, Gary and Robert), 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Jack will be missed by his family as well as by his many friends- he was a Kiwanian for over 60 years and a 33rd degree Freemason. Jack will be remembered for his great sense of humour, which served him well right to the end. There will be a memorial, service on Tuesday, January 16th at 3pm at Shaughnessy United Church, 1550 West 33rd, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Vancouver Kiwanis Welfare Foundation or to the B.C. Masonic Foundation. May he rest in peace.
