BYSTROM, HILDA DOROTEA - Saturday, 09 Aug 2003
Hilda Dorotea Bystrom passed into the presence of her Lord on Sat. August 9, 2003 at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her sisters Martha and Nan of Winnipeg, and Linnea of Vancouver.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ossian and her children Ray, Lydia, Dorothy, Marilyn and Sharon; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister Ann of Winnipeg as well as many nieces and nephews.
Hilda was a member of the Abbotsford Baptist Church where she formerly served as a deaconess. She practised her gift of hospitality liberally. It was her great joy to welcome family and friends to her home for meals and coffee. Her expertise in baking and preparing delicious meals was known and enjoyed by many. In spite of her deteriorating health in recent years, she continued to prepare meals for visiting friends and family members.
Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very dear to her. She loved to knit baby outfits for her many great grandchildren. She would plan her knitting long in advance for children to have a knitted outfit or sweater for birthdays or Christmas.
In May, Hilda broke her hip and required hospital care until the time of her passing. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Beytell and to nurses and staff of Worthington Pavillion for their care and compassion during Mom's illness. Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her, but we as a family are confident that she is now safe and well in the presence of Jesus.
A Memorial Service will be held at Abbotsford Baptist Church, 33651 Busby Street on Wed. August 13, 2003 at 2:00 p. m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make donations to Abbotsford Baptist Church.
