John P. Martens, late of Abbotsford, British Columbia, passed into the presence of his Lord in the early hours of Monday, June 30, 2003. He was born March 2, 1911 in Alexanderwohl, Ukraine to Peter P. Martens and Helena Wieler Martens.
He was a long time resident of the Abbotsford area and earned his living as a private entrepreneur in gravel and soil hauling.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2002 in the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church, 2719 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford.
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings; David, Peter, Helen and Susie as well as his first wife, Sara and his daughter, Mary. He leaves to mourn his wife Emilie, children; Viola (Ken) Klassen, Beverley (Jake) Schroeder and Trudy (Gerald) Janzen along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eric Ernest Douglas, passed away on June 30, 2003 at MSA Hospital in Abbotsford, B.C. Born December 14, 1927, he lived a full life for 75 years. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Surviving is his wife June, 4 children Lloyd Douglas (Martha), Carol Ogden, Sharon Teigland (Gary), Gwen Wilkie (David), 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 1 brother, Robert Cichocki. He was loved deeply by his family, and has gone to be with the Lord.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 4 at 1:00 p. m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3845 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Gideon's Bible Society.

Paul Norman Hanson passed away on June 28, 2003 at the age of 82 in Abbotsford, B.C. He was born September 20, 1920 in McCreary, Manitoba.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jean; dear children Heather (John), Joe (Judy), Tim (Ele), Glen (Sandra), Peggy (Daryl); grandchildren Karen (Ramon), Sandy (Jeff), Kelly (Jeremy), Drew, Jessica, Brodie, Kelsey; great-grandchildren Sofia, Olivia, Evan & Emily. Will also be deeply missed by brother Owen (Pat), sister Pearl McLean and other friends and family.
Paul served with the RCAF during WW11 on Eastern Air Command as a navigator. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Paul worked for 31 years with Consolidated Bathurst in Grand Mere and Montreal, Quebec.
Paul had many interests including sports, astronomy and carpentry. He was devoted to serving his church and community.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 10:00 a. m. at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 Hazel St., Abbotsford.

Naomi Mitchell born November 15th, 1935 in Vancouver, B.C. passed away at MSA Hospital on Saturday June 28, 2003. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Mitchell and her loving son Bobby Green and survived by her loving daughter Teresa (Tom) MacKenzie and granddaughter Heather and her son Peter Moulton.
Naomi will be sadly missed by her family and numerous friends who brought her such joy in life.

Mary, born June 3, 1916, called to be with her Lord, February 7, 2003, aged 86 years. Mary is survived by her brother Art (Alice), step-sister Sarah Fedrau and other relatives. Mary spent 35 years as a missionary in Ecuador with the Gospel Missionary Union.

Mr. Roger Henri Mineault late of Abbotsford passed away on February 5, 2003 at the age of 64 years at MSA Hospital.

Roger was an honest and hardworking man. He was loved by family and friends and will be missed by all.

Friesen, Jacob Henry (Jac), died peacefully on February 4, 2003 at the age of 93. He is survived and will be sorely missed by his wife of 68 years, Lydia; his children, Gerry (Fran) and Elaine, his grandchildren, Gina (Warren) Gotch and Randy (Adelle) Friesen and his great grandson and the apple of his eye, Stone Friesen.
As the eldest of 15 children, he is also survived by 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Jac was born January 19, 1910 on his parents' homestead in Langham, Saskatchewan. At a young age he knew that farming was not for him and he devoted his life to his faith, his family and to teaching. Having begun his career in the one-room schools of Saskatchewan, he briefly assumed a principalship in Yarrow, B.C. and then moved to North Surrey Senior Secondary where he taught a wide variety of subjects for many years. His professionalism, energy, commitment and lifelong quest for learning earned Jac the love and respect of his students, colleagues and family. Over the years Jac also willingly assumed many teaching and leadership roles in his church, all to the glory of God. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 11 at 3:00 p. m. at New Hope Christain Church (formerly Kennedy Heights), 11838 - 88th Avenue, Delta, B.C.

Maria "Rita" Clayton passed away peacefully in the presence of her Lord on February 3, 2003 at the age of 84 at Ebenezer Home, Abbotsford, B.C.
She was born in the Netherlands on March 30, 1918.
She will be missed by her loving daughter Anja (Willem) Van Leeuwen and grandson Brian (Kenny) and granddaughter Kim.
She was predeceased by her husband Jan Snoeck.

Mrs. Emma Kuppers peacefully went home to be with her Lord on February 3, 2003 at the age of 78 years at Surrey Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 27, 1924 in Krucha, Poland.
She is lovingly remembered by daughter Irma Boyd, sons Hans, Peter, and Bernie (Tammy), dear grandchildren John (Amy), Michael, Annelise, Haley, Ben,
Madelaine, Jorden, Ariel, Emma and Amy. Will also be missed by sisters Irma (Alfred) Balkau, Alma Zerbe, Hilda Blenheim and brother Adolf (Irma) Busse.
Emma was a wonderful mother, oma, sister and friend. She was always caring for and helping others before herself.
Emma had an incredible impact on those she met. She had a special way with children and will be remembered by all those she touched.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2003 at 11:00 a. m. at Seven Oaks Alliance Church with Pastor Dan Goldsmith officiating.
Burial will be held at Maclure Road Cemetery.

Harjinder K. Mangat late of Abbotsford, B.C., passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2003. She was predeceased by her father Bachan Singh Grewal in 1982 and her mother Rali Kaur Grewal in 1996.
Survived by her spouse Jangit; children Ranbir and Bobby (Bal); grandchildren; Jada and Priya; brother Mohinder (Sukhdev); sister Mohinder Kaur (Dyal); brother Joginder (Surjit) and nieces and nephews. She is very loved and will be sorely missed by friends and relatives.
