ADAMSKI, Vincent Louis (Vince) - Monday, 14 Apr 2003
Vincent Louis (Vince) Adamski, late of Chilliwack, born in Fernie, and aged 81 years, passed away on April 14, 2003.
Vince was a veteran of the Second World War, and a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Vince retired after 30 years of service with the Department of Highways in Boston Bar. He was an avid lawn bowler with the Chilliwack Lawn Bowling Club. He enjoyed 5-pin bowling. He was a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross and also a volunteer tutor at the University College of the Fraser Valley.
He is survived by his loving family, wife Kitty; sister Nellie Miscovitch of Chilliwack; sister-in-law Millicent Turvey of North Vancouver; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial funeral service will be held on Saturday, Apr. 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Lenz officiating. Cremation at Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack.
If family or friends so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Vince’s name would be appreciated.
BITTNER, Lorna Mae - Monday, 14 Apr 2003
Lorna Mae Bittner (nee Barber), loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend passed away quietly into the presence of her Lord on April 14, 2003.
The daughter of Phil and Reba Barber, Lorna was born in Chilliwack, Feb. 11, 1945 and spent much of her growing-up years in Abbotsford.
After marrying, and after having her children, the family moved to Calgary then to Airdrie, AB, where she raised her family.
Lorna and the children returned to Chilliwack in the 1980’s where she remained until her passing. Lorna had a long career as as dispatcher for the local fire departments where she lived.
Since 1987, Lorna was a dispatcher for the Chilliwack Fire Department and, later, the Fraser Valley Regional District Fire Services. Lorna is survived by her children; Steven, Darcy (David), Andrew’ grandchildren William, Robert and Rebecca; and her brother Don Barber.
The funeral service will be held at the Chilliwack Central Bretheran Church on Friday, April 25, 2003 at 10:30 a.m.
NORRISH, Irene - Monday, 14 Apr 2003
Irene Norrish of Abbotsford, passed away suddenly April 14, 2003 at the age of 79 years.
Irene was predeceased by her mother and father, Jean and Albert (Ernie) Norrish; as well as her brother Aubrey Norrish; sister Jean Brisbin; and good friend Margaret Hudson.
Irene is survived by her sister Ruth Ballam; and brothers, Wesley, Ralph, Hal, and Bert Norrish; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Born in Hawarden, Sask., she was the fifth of eight children. The family moved to Chilliwack in 1934 where Irene graduated from high school in 1940. After graduation, Irene worked at the Bank of Montreal while working to attain from Pitman Business College, a certificate for bookkeeping.
Irene worked for the Norrish brothers, Fraser Valley Frosted Foods, then moved to Abbotsford and continued to work as an accountant in various locations till her last day, April 14, 2003.
Irene enjoyed curling, Pomeranian dogs, Vegas, Purdy Chocolates, and family. To her family, Irene did it all, she was organized, and on top of all special family events. Irene will be greatly missed and our hearts forever changed for knowing and loving her.
COCHRAN, Eleanor - Saturday, 12 Apr 2003
Eleanor Cochran passed away at age 79 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She never lost her humour, grace and love for those around her.

AIERS, Dorothy May - Friday, 06 Jun 2003
Dorothy May Aiers passed away on Friday, June 6, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 75 years. She was born May 2, 1928 in London, England.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Tony, Brian and Chris (Jeanette); grandchildren, Brandie and Colton; and step-grandchildren, Jonathan and Kelsey.
She was predeceased by her husband Alf, 16 months prior.
Dorothy moved from London, England in 1957 to Edmonton, Alta., where she rejoined her husband. They moved to Chilliwack in 1989 to retire.
We would like to thank all the nurses and doctors for the nice way in which Mom was treated. You nurses were terrific and a big thank you to Dr. Quentin Smith.

Richard Wayne Miller born May 13, 1960 in Richmond, passed away suddenly June 6, 2003 at Chilliwack.
Richard will be sadly missed by his loving mother Irene Miller; sister Catherine Dubinsky (Frank) of Abbotsford and family, Trevor and Gloria, Robyn, Keven and Catherine, sister Denise Scarborough (Joe) of Agassiz and family, Michael, Nathan, and Cynthia, sister Carolanne Miller (Gord) of Chilliwack and family, Alex and Rebecca, sister Linda Macleod of Vancouver, sister Leora Layne (Stan) of Lloydminster, Sask., sister Susan Kivisalu (Harry) of Burnaby and family, Dave and Trisha; brother Ron Glazier (Janet) of Port Alberni and family, Stan and Julie, brother Gerry Knoll (Willow) of Magarth, Alta. and family, Joe.
Rick was predeceased by his father Alec; and brother Gordon.

A Celebration of Rick’s life will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 8871 School St., Chilliwack, on Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 11 a.m.
Rick always had the kindest heart, the deepest laugh, the warmest presence, and was loved by all who knew him. Until we meet again in heaven, Rest in Peace, Rick. We love you.

Irene Eleanor Muir (nee Oldham) passed away peacefully, with all of her immediate family by her side and Moog and Friends Hospice House, Penticton on Friday, June 6, 2003. Born June 17, 1930 in Indian Head, Sask.
Irene is survived by her loving family, husband Wes of 54 years; son William (Evelyne and grandchild Cheryl of Penticton; and Robyn’s special friend Donnie Fitzpatrick of Campbell River; daughter Doreen Olson (Larrie and grandchildren, Angela (Dave), Silas (Yaneth), Clint (Alicia), Allan and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and David of Fort Langley); daughter, Louise Christian (Bill) of Slocan Park; sisters, Marguerite, Kathleen, Edith, Doris, Isabelle and brother, Robert.
Sadly predeceased by sisters, Mary, Dorothy; brother Ernest and grandchildren, Robyn and Vincent.
Irene was an exceptional gardener and roses her passion. Her talents in knitting, sewing and crocheting were enjoyed by many through her generous giving.
Her activities included curling, cross country skiing, dancing, aquafit and travel. She volunteered for many years canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society and donating blood to the Red Cross. She volunteered in numerous organizations such as the Canadian Order of Foresters, (Chilliwack), Hospital Employees Union (Langley Memorial Hospital), and more recently, the Sandbridge Strata Council and Penticton Seniors Drop-In Center. Most of all, Irene loved spending time with her family and her many friends she considered as family.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 1 p.m. at St. Saviours Anglican Church, 150 Orchard Ave., Penticton. Cremation will follow. Interment of ashes in Chilliwack at a later date.
Irene’s family wish to thank Dr. Michael Sloan, doctors and staff at Penticton Regional Hospital, Oncology and Moog and Friends Hospice House staff for their compassionate care.

TURNBULL, James - Monday, 07 Jul 2003
James Turnbull passed away suddenly in his home in Chilliwack Tuesday, July 7, 2003 at the age of 63 years.
James is survived by his brother William (Brinda Seepersad) Turnbull of Maple Ridge; and his four sisters, Rose (Joe) Mackie of Chester, England, Terry (Graham) Warrall of Norfolk, England, Mary (Don) Chihoski of Warwick, R.I., and Margaret Turnbull of Chester, England.
He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
James was a retired marine engineer who travelled the world. He had many hobbies and was an avid reader.
Visitation will be held for Mr. Turnbull from 7-8 p.m. on - Sunday, July 13, 2003 from Henderson’s Funeral Home.
Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2003 from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Jack Dias the Celebrant.

Sue died peacefully at Chilliwack General Hospital.
Sue is predeceased by her mother Jeannette; her father Arthur; and her brother Leonard.
Sue is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Spratt, Emily Johnston and Juli Johnston; devoted husband Stefan; young grandchildren, Cameron, Kelsey and James; sisters, Norma (Glenda), Diane (Ed), Adele (John), Lynn (David); and brothers, Marcel (Karen) and Jerry (Laura). Sue will be the missing link for many aunts, uncles and cousins here and Eastern Canada of the Mayhew family.
Sue will be fondly remembered also by her good friends – especially the children who spent hours crafting – learning from her giving personality.
Special thanks go to Dr. L. MacIntosh who compassionately saw to Sue’s needs. Our appreciation to the kindness of the hospital staff.
A private memorial service will be held by the family.

Manuel Garcia passed away at Chilliwack on July 5, 2003 at the age of 81 years.
Manuel is survived by his loving family, wife Maria; sons, Manuel (Carol) Garcia Jr. of Maple Ridge, and Paul David Garcia; daughters, Lucia (Bruce) Ritchie of Ajax, Ont., and Maria Adelaide Garcia (Ray) of Telkwa, B.C.; five grandchildren; and four sisters, Maria Adelaide Carvalho, Almerindo Garcia, Constantina Pavao, and Maria Ilda de Sousa, all of Winnipeg, Man.
Predeceased by his brother Jose Garcia.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Jack Dias celebrant. Interment followed at Chilliwack Cemeteries.

Angels come to guide us to our eternal light. On July 4, 2003 Jean Marie Luepke had her angel come to guide her to her eternal light.
She passed away suddenly at Chilliwack General Hospital on July 4, 2003 in her 76th year. Jean Marie Luepke has gone to be reunited with her loving husband Irvin, who preceded her in 2000.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home on Friday, July 11, 2003 at 1 p.m. Rev. Doug Ireland officiating. Cremation, Valley Crematorium.
She leaves behind her sons, Brian (Marg), Gordon and Ryan; grandson Kyle; cousin and childhood chum Phyllis (George) Dooley; as well as many longtime friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses of the ICU, Dr. Richmond and Dr. McLeod, as well as a special thanks to Mrs. Ada (Cyril) Walsh and Brenda (Brent) Neufeld for all their love and support.

We say goodbye to our beloved Tony, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He has gone to the sleep of death and will rest there until the resurrection day. What a glorious day that will be as Jesus said at John 5:28, 29 ‘’The hour is coming when all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out out.’’
What joyful reunions there will be in the earthly paradise of God’s Kingdom!
Tony just started his 77th year. He leaves his wife Shirley of Chilliwack; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Don Harnish of New Brunswick; and three grandchildren and their spouses, Joanna and Vaughn Bennett, Greg and Lindsay Harnish, and Rebekah and Ron Allen, all of New Brunswick. Also survived by sisters, Eileen Blenkorne of Penticton and Helen Arcand of Chilliwack; nephew Les Arcand of Chilliwack; and niece Linda Andrews of Delta.
As Job said in chap. 14 vs. 7, 14, 15 ‘’For there exists hope for even a tree. If it gets cut down, it will even sprout again. And it’s own twig will not cease to be. If an able-bodied man dies, can he live again? All the days of my compulsory service I shall wait, until my relief comes. You will call and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning.’’
Predeceased by daughter Pam; father Joseph; and mother Verna.
Memorial service will be - Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at 7 p.m. from the Kingdom Hall, 46970 Yale Rd. E. Mr. Hall Wannacot will be officiating.
