McWHIRTER, Charles Stewart (Chuck) - Tuesday, 01 Jul 2003
Charles Stewart (Chuck) McWhirter passed away peacefully on July 1, 2003 at the age of 72 years.
He was predeceased by his son Stewart in 1982.
He is survived by his loving family, wife Susan; son Steven and wife Sharron; daughter Karen and husband Gary Glinz; grandchildren, Stewart, Raelene, Christopher and Jamie McWhirter, Peter Hrycenko, Gabrielle Carter and Ryan Glinz; and two great-grandsons, Erric and Caleb. Also survived by his sister Effie; and brother John (Jean); and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Chuck was a journeyman Lineman for 47 years.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 4, 2003 at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd., Abbotsford. Special thanks to Dr. Wallace and the staff at Maplewood House.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Parkinson’s Disease Association would be appreciated.
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains fall soft upon your fields, and, until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

DUNNE, Richard Christopher Jr. - Monday, 30 Jun 2003
Richard Christopher Dunne Jr. passed away June 30, 2003 in his 51st year, at the Chilliwack General Hospital.
Rick was born and raised in Chilliwack. He graduated from Chilliwack Senior Secondary in 1970. Upon graduation he worked for Towler Realty, Wheeler Realty, and also appraising. An avid sportsperson, Rick competed in many sports and was a master ping-pong player, bowler, and golfer.
At the young age of 14, he won the Junior Club Championship at both Chilliwack Golf and Country and Meadowlands. In 2001, Rick won the Chilliwack Open (amateur).
Rick was a loving, generous, and compassionate person who had a zest for life.
He is survived by his parents, Evelyn and Richard Dunne; his daughters, Erin and Ashley; son-in-law Brad; sister Darlene; and loving companion Tracey; as well as a large family.
Memorial service to be held at 1 p.m. - Saturday, July 5, 2003 at Henderson’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
No words can express the deep sorrow those he has left behind. Rick’s candle burnt out far too early, but his love and memories will burn forever in the hearts of all the people whose lives he touched.
We will not say ‘’goodbye’’ but instead ‘’until we meet again’’.

JENSEN, Gunner Christian - Monday, 30 Jun 2003
Gunner Jensen passed away peacefully in Chilliwack on the evening of June 30, 2003. Born in Denmark in 1920, he is survived by his loving wife and three step-children. There will be no service by request.

BELL, Stanley C. (Stan) - Sunday, 29 Jun 2003
Stanley Bell, born on Nov. 14, 1925, after living a fulfilling life, passed away on June 29, 2003.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of over 50 years, Kay; daughter, Sharon; son, Warren (Rita) and their children, Melissa and Jesse; son, Gordon; brothers, Dudley and Len (Darlene); niece Karen (Guy) and their children; and nephew, Doug.
Stan was predeceased by his brother Edward.
The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to Dr. Lisa Jeppesen and her staff as well as the nursing staff of the fourth floor palliative care unit of Chilliwack General Hospital, for their care and kindness.
An information gathering of friends and family will be held in Stan’s honour on July 4, 2003 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the clubhouse at Promontory Lake Estates, 6001 Promontory Rd., Chilliwack, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.

HAGEN, Pauline Emma - Monday, 22 Sep 2003
Pauline Hagen passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at the age of 84 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Ken) Dressler, Edna (Ed) Banman, and Brenda (Randy) Koehn; grandchildren, Daren (Sara Dressler, Lisa (Marty) Svienbjornson, Pamela (Chad) Crosby, Cherie Banman, Shaun Koehn, and Brad Koehn; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Olivia Dressler.
Funeral service was held on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at the chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Hewitt officiating. Interment followed at the Vedder View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Bible Society would be appreciated.

SAWATSKY (nee Hiebert), Elizabeth - Monday, 22 Sep 2003
Elizabeth Sawatsky (nee Hiebert) passed away peacefully at Chilliwack Hospital on September 22, 2003. She was born December 17, 1930 in Springwater, Sask.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 46 years, Ernie; four children, Russell (Etsuko) of London, Ont., Robert (Judy) of Richmond, Donna of Chilliwack, and Glenn (Linda) of Redmond, WA.; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Olivia, Rika, Keila, Aisha and Aaron. She is also survived by brother Peter (Sylvia); sisters, Mary Dueckman, Tina (Elmer) Goodell, and Nettie Boyd; sister-in-law Verona Hiebert; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including the many Sawatsky relations in-law.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Marie Hiebert; and by her brother John Hiebert.
Interment will take place at the Chilliwack Cemeteries at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003. A memorial service will follow at noon at Eden Mennonite Church in Chilliwack.
Elizabeth suffered for many years from rheumatoid arthritis, and donations in lieu of flowers may be made to The Arthritis Society.

WIRSZ, Eva - Monday, 22 Sep 2003
Eva Wirsz passed away on September 22, 2003 at Surrey, at age 92 years. She was born December 21, 1910 in Earl Grey, Sask.
Eva is survived by her children, Gordon (Esther), and Lloyd (Janet); grandchildren, Lyle, Stan, Brenda, Berry, Clifford, Linda, Dayle, Wendel, Sandra, Tyler, and Eva; 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Wirsz; sons, Harold and Allen; and brothers and sisters.
A funeral service was held - Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003 from the chapel at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home with interment at Chilliwack Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her sons, Gordon and Lloyd; and grandchildren, Brenda, Linda, Sandra, and Eva.
Eva was a longtime member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

FRIESEN, Olga Mary - Saturday, 20 Sep 2003
Olga Mary Friesen passed away September 20, 2003 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 77 years. She was born August 7, 1926 in Humboldt, Sask.
Olga is survived by her loving husband John; daughter Tudi (Joe); sons, Doug (Roxanne), Jon (Mona), Dan (Starlene), and Curt (Maureen); grandson Drew; and 10 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; and son Kerry.
Olga’s courage and generous spirit made all our lives richer. Her memory will live on in our hearts.
A graveside service will be held - Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at 10 a.m. from Langley Lawn Cemetery, Langley.
Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society of B.C. #119-1600 W. 6th Ave., Vancouver, B.C. V6J 1R3.

McFAUL, William (Bill) James Moore - Saturday, 20 Sep 2003
William (Bill) James Moore McFaul, late of Lynnwood Retirement Home, Chilliwack, passed away September 20, 2003 at the Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 93 years. He was born December 4, 1909 in Coleraine, Ireland. A pioneer of the Chilliwack area, highly respected livestock person, community participant and 70 year member of the Masonic Lodge.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held - Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home.
Honourary bearers are Douglas McFaul, Robert Moynahan, Jim McFaul, Ken McFaul, Brian McFaul, and Robert McFaul.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving family, sons, John (Evelyn) McFaul of Abbotsford and David (Joanne) McFaul of Boston, MA.; granddaughter Patricia (Robert) Moynahan of Abbotsford; grandson Douglas (Diane) McFaul of Coquitlam; and special little great-grandchildren, Sydney and Tori McFaul, and Sean and Ryan Moynahan. Also survived by his four nephews and their families.

HOLMES, George - Saturday, 20 Sep 2003
1914-2003
George Holmes passed away peacefully in Yucalta Lodge in Campbell River on September 20, 2003.
George is predeceased by his wife Louise.
Survived by his daughter Geri Arkell (Ted); grandsons, Kelly Arkell of Campbell River, and Kevin Arkell of Kelowna; and one sister Mary Sandy residing in Saskatoon, Sask.
Special thanks to the staff of Yucalta Lodge for their kindness and support during the past several years.
No service or flowers by request.

Walter (Pepper) St. Croix passed away September 20, 2003 at 2:30 pm at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 72 years.
A graveside service will be held - Saturday, Sept., 27, 2003 at 10 a.m. from the Maple Ridge Cemetery with Pastor Tim Rowan officiating.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made in Walter’s name to the Cancer Society of B.C.

PRINGLE, Donald Alexander - Wednesday, 17 Sep 2003
Donald Alexander Pringle passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003.
He is survived by wife, Margaret; four sons, Ronald Pringle of Vancouver, James (Rosemary) of Winnipeg, John (Maureen) of Vancouver, and Clifford (Donna) of Armstrong; two granddaughters, Julie and Adrienne; four grandsons, James, Ken, Aaron and Daniel; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anges Down, Isabel Drinkwalter, Katherine (Roy) Mitchell, and Mary Pringle; extended family and friends.
Donald started his working career as a jockey, working all across Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
A 27-year veteran of the Armed Forces Staff Sergeant D.A. Pringle, C.D. served during WWII and the Korean War.
After leaving the forces, he lived at Williams Lake where he worked at Gibralter Mine. Upon retiring, Don moved to the Armstrong area 18 years ago. He enjoyed people and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m., - Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at Mountain View Chapel. Pastor Greg Schmidt officiating.
Interment in family plot of Armstrong Spallumcheen Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Alzheimer Society of B.C.
Arrangements in the care of Mountain View Funeral Home, 546-8294.
