DOBBIE, Mina (MacKenzie) passed away peacefully with her two children at her side, on June 6, 2002, at Royal Columbian Hospital, after a courageous 7-week battle to recover from heart failure and pneumonia. Mina was born in Cheadle, AB. She married in 1955. In 1964, the family moved to Vancouver and Mina worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. She was a loving, sensitive and wise woman with a bright, active and imaginative mind, with interests in reading, gardening, health issues, as well as in local and world events. She was a talented writer. In recent years, she fought a number of ailments, and her health gradually declined, but she remained fiercely independent and retained her indomitable spirit all along. Predeceased by her husband, Alexander, and sisters, Catherine, Rachel (both of Calgary) and Janet (New Westminster). Survived by her loving daughter, Roberta (and Joe and family), and son Stewart (and friend Masami of Niigata, Japan). She will be very greatly missed, and will always be in our hearts. The family is deeply grateful to Drs. Diane Finding and Dennis Rupka, and the nursing staff at RCH (with special mention to the ICU) for the concern shown, and the wonderful care provided, to Mina. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, 121 E. Columbia St. New Westminster on Thursday, June 20, 2002, 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mina's memory may be made to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, 260 Sherbrooke Street, N.W., B.C., V3L 3M2.

FALCONE, Dominic (Nick), age 84, passed away suddenly, June 14th, 2002. He was predeceased by his wife, Emma (1987). Survived by his son, Gary; his daughter Linda (Ken) and his sister, Helen in Saskatoon; his grandchildren, Bradley and Kara and 2 great-grandchildren. He will always be remembered in our hearts and minds. A graveside service with be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2002 at the Surrey Center Cemetery at 16671 Old McLellan Road, Surrey, B.C. JACOBSEN, Marinus K. (Chris) Jacobsen got an early clearing for his last departure on June 15, 2002. He will now be cruising forever above the clouds. Born in Denmark January 26, 1931. LESTER, David Roy, son of Edward and Sheila Lester, was born in Vancouver in 1955 and passed away in Kelowna, B.C. on June 14, 2002. He was a graduate of John Oliver High School, completed his trade qualifications in autobody in 1978 and worked for many years as a bodyman in the lower mainland at Totem Mercury and Spot Light Collision. David moved to the Okanagan in 1991 and worked at Western Star Trucks until it closed. He was known for his love of cars and his strong sense of family and enjoying life to the fullest. He will be remembered by his family for times spent together at Green Lake, and many of his friends in Kelowna for his willingness to help out wherever he could. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer; his parents Ed and Sheila; brothers Gordon (Mary) of Kamloops, Steven (Heidi) of Surrey; sister Karen (Jock) Cameron of Langley and nieces and nephews, Mairi, Christine, Colin, Michael, Kevin, Scott, Kaitlyn and Julie. A Celebration of David's life will take place at St. Andrew's United Church, 9025 Glover Road, Fort Langley, B.C. on Thursday, June 20th at 11:00 am. LINGREN, Alfred Harry. Alfie was born in Vancouver on March 9, 1948 and passed away suddenly in Princeton on June 15, 2002. He will be lovingly remembered by his two brothers, Art and Don and three sisters, Edna, Lois and Margaret; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial service will be held on Monday, June 24th at 1:00 pm at the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond, B.C. Reception to follow.
CARMICHAEL, Dorothy Born Dorothy Alexandra Badley in Tranmere, Cheshire on July 12, 1902, passed away peacefully at age 100 at Carlton Gardens on August 12, 2002. In 1907 Dorothy emigrated with her family to Sidney, Manitoba. She spent part of her childhood in Vancouver before returning to Manitoba where she married George Carmichael and raised their family. After she retired from work in 1963, she enjoyed travel, and many hobbies. She is predeceased by her husband George Carmichael in 1958, granddaughter Sheryll McKeever in 1990 and daughter June McKeever in 1998. Nan will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Alma McIntyre, son Bill Carmichael (Margaret), daughter Barbara Knapp, and son-in-law Ernie McKeever, grandchildren Penny Robertson (Ken), Gordon McKeever (Libby), Rick Carmichael, Debbie Harpley (Gord), Wendy and Sharon Knapp (Meredith) and great-grandchildren Shannon Norberg (Jay), Heather Robertson (Shawn), Meghan and Katelyn McKeever and Ryan, Leah and Sherri Miller. She also leaves behind her dear sister and travelling companion Mae Mobberley and family in Winnipeg. Nan touched us all by her presence. A kind and gracious lady, she was generous with her time and talents. Her hands were never idle; she delighted in knitting and crocheting gifts for family and charity. Her love and concern for children were central to her character. She also volunteered with the Anglican Church and at the Second Step Society for many years. A vivid storyteller with a keen sense of humour, she shared many memories of her early life in Manitoba and Vancouver with us. We remember her with admiration and gratitude. CHALIFOUR, Lucien Edmond of Surrey, B.C. passed away on August 13, 2002 at the age of 82 years. He is predeceased by his wife Rosanna, daughter Linda, sister Jeannette. EASTERBROOK, Audrey Hope, born in Calgary on August 9, 1929, passed away August 8, 2002 after a debilitating illness. Audrey is predeceased by her parents Marjorie and Ralph Easterbrook and is survived by her family: Aunt Florence Cowin; cousins Lois Shields, Marjorie Snaith and Maureen Cowin; and other cousins in Alberta and B.C. She will be missed by her close friends Barbara Chambers and Marj Ewing, with whom she worked as a stewardess in the early days of Canadian Airlines prior to her career in the business world in Vancouver. Audrey found joy in a range of interests including playing the piano on social occasions. At Audrey's request, there will be no service. FERGUSON, Murray Edwin, born on September 18, 1940, passed away at St. Paul's Hospital August 11, 2002. He will be greatly missed by his children, Carolyn and Andrew; his mother Edith; his siblings, Connie and Bill; and many other loving relatives and friends. After moving to British Columbia from Saskatchewan, Murray spent most of his valued years living on Bowen Island, B.C. with his two children, wife Eng Cheng Ferguson, cow Daisy and many other farm raised animals. Murray was a well respected employee at Royal Jubilee and St. Paul's Hospitals where he worked for many years. He will be remembered as a caring man who had a twinkle in his eye and will always be within our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the B.C. FILLINGHAM, Germaine (Germana Stephania), nee Van Loo. Born in Betekom, Belgium, May 31, 1920 passed away peacefully August 11th, 2002 in Vernon, B.C. She leaves behind her beloved husband Albert (Bert); her sister Colette (Francois); God daughter Linda Ling-Lunny and her many long time friends in Canada. Germaine was an avid supporter of the C.N.I.B. and the Belgian Canadian Association of B.C. Germaine will be remembered for all her kind and thoughtful ways.
