Rikard Bo Johan born in Delary, Sweden on September 5, 1943, passed away suddenly in Quebec on April 4, 2001.
A loving son, husband, father, brother, friend, he was predeceased by his father Bo Otto in 1964. He will be deeply missed and mourned by his mother, Gunvor, his loving wife, Shirley, sons Erik and Janne, brother Peter (Julia), niece Andrea, step-son Wade (Anke), grandson Daniel, and many relatives and friends.
Rik graduated from Orebro College, Sweden in 1964, as a Chemical Engineer. He immigrated to Canada in 1967. Much of his career was spent with Chemetics International, where he held several positions over a period of 27 years.
After leaving Chemetics, he worked for Electrocatalytic out of Singapore and traveled throughout Southeast Asia, and Australia and Europe. At the time of his death, he was employed with U.S. Filter.
A tireless and dedicated worker, he accomplished many things in his life. Throughout his career, he traveled extensively world wide and enjoyed all the business contacts and friends he acquired during this time.
A Celebration of Rik’s Life was held on Wednesday April 11, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Rd., Richmond, B.C. A reception followed in the Reception Centre of the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Rita Priestley
February 19, 1925 - April 7, 2001

Of Richmond, passed away on April 7, 2001, at the age of 76.
Predeceased by Jack, her beloved husband of 43 years, in March 1990.
Survived by son Glen (Heidi), grandchildren Tristan and Laura of Richmond, and daughter Patricia, grandchildren Michael and Larry of California.
Born in England, Rita won the heart of her Canadian Soldier and came to Vancouver to start a new life after WW II. Rita’s life was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed bowling, swimming, travel, family, friends and laughter. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
A private gathering of family and friends will take place on April 22, 2001 to celebrate her life.
William (Bill) Joseph Keegan
April 4, 1925 - April 12, 2001

William Joseph (Bill) born April 4, 1925 passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on April 12, 2001. Predeceased by his wife Margery Mae in May 1991.
Survived by his daughter Brenda and husband Earl Leclerc, son Ross and wife Falina; grandchildren Cheryl and Nicole Leclerc, Trevor and Shelby Keegan.
He was a wonderful Dad, Grandpa, friend and will be sadly missed.

Arpad Gasparik
December 24, 1932 - May 3, 2001

Passed away at the Richmond Hospital on May 3rd, 2001 at the age of 68 years. Arpad Gasparik, dearly beloved husband of Eva for 49 years.
Loving father of Robert (Gisele) and Adriana Mortlock (Norm). Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jocelyn and Jacqueline. He will be sadly missed by his two sisters Magda of the Republic of Slovakia and Kati of the Czech Republic.
Arpad was born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia and ventured to Canada with his family in 1968. After working 24 years at Manitoba Hydro, he retired to Richmond, B.C. to spend time with his two grandchildren. Arpad will be sadly missed by all.
Flowers gratefully declined, rather a donation can be made in Arpad’s memory to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.

Viola Joy MacDonald (nee Simmie)

Born July 8, 1941 in Calgary, Alberta and passed away peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy and courageous battle with Cancer on April 28, 2001.
Predeceased by her parents Theta Irene Simmie (nee Armey) and William Gilbert Simmie, son Lincoln Edward deBodt Rosenland, sister Greta Campbell and step-daughter Cathy MacDonald Woznow. Joy leaves to remember her, 7 children Ben, Rachel, Rebecca, Sage, Joshua, Jennifer and Jodi, her step-children Doug, Laura, Rob, David and Steven and 26 grandchildren. She also leaves her sisters Fern, Lois, Judy and June, her brother James and their families.
Joy was an active member of her church, fulfilling many rolls over the years and had many, many friends in B.C. and Alberta.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday May 4, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8840 Williams Road, Richmond, B.C.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Research Centre in Vancouver.
Melvern Horace Padbury
August 3, 1915 - May 16, 2001

Melvern Horace, born August 3, 1915 in Toronto, Ontario. Beloved husband and true friend to his wife Norah, died May 16, 2001 at 11:00 p.m. in his home.
He will be deeply missed by Norah and his two daughters, Jean Hodgins, wife of Allan and Jacqueline Usher, wife to George; his sister Anne Kochler, his five grandchildren, Nonie, Penny, Richard, Rene and Sean who loved him deeply. Mel also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren, Tara, Andrew, Tyler, Jacqueline, Kevin, Reid, Mitchel, Chad, Jennifer, Brent and Justin.
Mel served in the Canadian Army, 1st Battalion of the Essex Scottish Regiment. He was wounded in action in Holland. After convalescence he returned to service. In civilian life Mel worked for Reynolds Aluminum as Western Sales Manager in Vancouver. He was an active member at the Marine Drive Golf & Country Club for 39 years.
In place of flowers the family would appreciate contributions sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke.
Visitation will be held Tuesday May 22nd from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Canbie Rd., Richmond followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.
