NACEY - Colin Campbell passed away on May 28, 1997 in Delta at age 76. Colin was born in Thunder Bay. Predeceased by daughter Coleen. DAVIS - Matthew John, Born in Welwyn, SK on September 28, 1901, passed away on May 15, 1997. He moved from Saskatchewan to West Vancouver in 1936. Recently he moved to Halliday House in Parksville where he passed away in the arms of his loving wife.
Matt was proud to have helped in the building of the Lions Gate Bridge and was also involved in building war ships at Burrard Dry Dock. Before his retirement, he held a position as custodian for the West Vancouver School District.
Matt was actively involved in St. David's Church for many years. He was an honorary member of the Loyal Orange Lodge and was Past R.W. Grand Master of the Grand Black Chapter of BC.
He will be remembered and missed by his loving wife Marjorie; sons Gordon (Alison), Malcolm (Trudy), Lyle (Carol); daughter Barbara (Keith) Wood; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brother Fred; sisters Agnes Griswold and Myrtle Evans.

MARGARET ANNE (PEGGY) TOTTEN Passed away suddenly Friday, May 16, 1997 of heart failure. Born in North Vancouver in 1918, she remained a lifetime resident. She is sadly missed by her family, friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1995, and is survived by her brother Donald MacLean (Betty); sons Stan (Linda), Danny (Loretta) and by her daughter Jo Ann (Jim). She dearly loved her family and had a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren. Shannon, Andrew, Alison, Greg, Colleen, Mike and Brian will miss her support and encouragement. KELLER - Dirk (Dick) born January 22, 1905 in Rotterdam, Holland, passed away May 8, 1997 in West Vancouver. Dirk was predeceased by his wife Adama in 1991. ROBERTSON - Melissa Ella, born in Vancouver, B.C. on June 22, 1908, passed away peacefully on May 5, 1997 at Inglewood Care Centre. Predeceased by her husband, Clifford, in January 1986. Melissa lived in Vancouver and North Vancouver all her life until she moved to West Vancouver in 1990, where she lived at Hollyburn House and lately at the Inglewood Care Centre. She will be remembered for enjoying all the beauty around her and always ready to make new friends. She will be missed by her life-long friends and her two grandchildren, Dale and Denice. Vera will be remembered lovingly for her unfailing commitment to others and the joy she found in nature and the outdoors. Born at Twickenham, England in 1907, Vera arrived in Canada in 1911. DUHOLKE - Albert George Born January 17, 1917, in Stony Plain, Alberta, died April 19, 1997, in North Vancouver, B.C., of a heart attack. Al was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of nearly twenty years, Margaret; sisters Mary Schumm of Edmonton, Alberta, and Julia Metcalfe of Wainwright, Alberta; children Faye (Joe) Kafrawy of Halifax, N.S., Patricia (Stanley) Warlow of Sidney, B.C., June (Keith) Hamilton of Mission, B.C., and Jim (Jennifer) Duholke of North Vancouver, B.C.; stepchildren Bob (Jane) Sonntag of Melfort, Saskatchewan and Carol (Bill) Craig of Hinton, Alberta. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at West Vancouver United Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 25th. LOVIS - Walter Bernard (Bern), died peacefully, April 19, 1997, at Lions Gate Hospital, North Vancouver, after a lengthy illness. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret (Peggy); daughter Margo; son Wayne; granddaughters, Tracey and Isabel; great-granddaughter Devon; brother George Wilson, of Belleville, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. He was born in 1915, Toronto, Ontario, spending his formative years in Belleville. After his marriage in 1942, he moved to B.C. to work on the Alaska Highway, and the Alcan Kemano Project. He settled in Vancouver, and continued to pursue an engineering career and to raise his family. No service by request. HAMPTON - On Sunday, April 20, 1997, Mr. Herbert Hampton passed away suddenly at his home in Coquitlam, at the age of 80 years. Herb, as he was known, was born in Govan, Saskatchewan, February 1, 1917, to Herbert and Emily Hampton, and was the third of five children, Lillian, Violet, Herbert, Dorothy, and Joe. The first half of Herb's life was spent farming in Saskatchewan. These early years formed a lifetime love affair between Herb and horses. He spent a great part of his younger life working with horses and a great part of his later years collecting horse sculptures, pictures, and memorabilia. It was also in Saskatchewan that Herb met his lifetime partner, Pearl Rowen, in 1937. They were married on April 3, 1940, and in this marriage were born six children, a daughter Bev, and five sons Lloyd, Tom, Leith, Glen, and Don. Herb and Pearl farmed their homestead in Prairie River and were a vital part of their close knit farming community. The many friendships cultivated during these times and nurtured over the years have remained strong and supportive to Herb and his family. Herb's strong sense of family lead him to decide to move to Vancouver in November, 1956, where he worked, raised his family, and became a lifetime member of the Independent Order of Foresters, the Lynn Valley Masonic Lodge No. 122, and the Royal Arch No. 16. He retired in 1983 and spent his remaining years travelling and visiting with family and friends. Herb is survived by his wife Pearl; his sister Dorothy; his brother Joe; his children, Lloyd (Jean), Tom (Joan), Leith (Shannon), Glen (Linda), Bev (Ray), and Don (Maureen); as well as 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. Visitation Wednesday, April 23rd, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the MAPLE RIDGE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 11969-216th Street, where the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 24th at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery. BREDIN - Yvonne, born January 1, 1935 (first New Year's baby at Lions Gate Hospital received Vancouver Sun Trophy, 1 year's supply of milk and a crib), passed away April 17, 1997, after a 19 year heroic battle with cancer. Survived by her loving family, mother Bea Ferguson; sisters Mona and Midge; brother Jack; sons Bradley and Randi; daughter Shuli; and six grandchildren, Melissa, Jordie, Lena, Eric, Joao and Mateo, who gave her the will to fight.
