Grace passed on peacefully at her home near Loveland, Colorado on Sun., Nov. 21, 2004. This completes a rich life of service, fully lived and enjoyed. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was secretary for 33 years to the late Lord Martin Cecil, leader of Emissaries of Divine Light. She spent extensive time in 100 Mile House from 1954 to 1994, then she permanently returned to the United States. Grace was a biblical scholar who spoke and taught on the subject and collaborated with other scholars. She wrote two books, one on the history of the Emissaries of Divine Light, and her most recent, “The Book of Grace”, based on her lifetime of research and study of the Bible. Grace had a lifelong interest in the performing and fine arts. Many people young and old around the world have been blessed by Grace’s keen interest and friendship. Her life will be celebrated in a memorial service on Sat., Dec. 11, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The service will originate at Sunrise Ranch in Colorado, with an international teleconference connection to the Log Chapel (behind the Lodge) in 100 Mile House. Any who knew Grace are welcome to attend.

Art passed away suddenly in a tragic motor vehicle accident on October 30, 2004 at the age of 73. Art was born on June 4, 1931 in Alcomdale, Alta. He was the Assist. Fire Chief of the New Westminster Fire Dept. until his retirement. His love of the outdoors and its preservation was his continuous passion. His work with the Sapperton Fish and Game Club earned him a lifetime membership and will be remembered by many. Art is survived by his loving daughters; Sandra of Williams Lake, B.C.; Sharon of Gibsons, B.C.; Marlene of Beaverdell, B.C.; Kelly of Vancouver, B.C.; and Brenda of Barriere, B.C.; Also survived by brothers Walter of Summerland, B.C.; Gordon of Castlegar; sisters Doreen of Langley, B.C.; and Mable of Vancouver and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service was held on Mon., Nov. 8, 2004 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in 100 Mile House, B.C. The family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt support. Born July 22, 1944, Vale Formosa, Algarve, Portugal. Val moved to the Cariboo in 1968, after four years serving as a Commando with the Portuguese Armed Forces in Angola and Mozambique. Val spent the past 34 years working for Weldwood of Canada in 100 Mile House, B.C. Val passed away tragically in a motor vehicle accident Oct. 19, 2004 on Highway 97 at 103 Mile. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Dilia; his oldest son Danny (Mirissa, granddaughters Anna-Maria and Ava); youngest son Adam (Mary-Ann); his mother-in-law, Maria; brother-in-law Edelberto (Cristina, niece Cecilia, nephew Pedro); his mother Ilda; brother Max (Ilda, nephews Walter and Glen). Welcoming Val through Heaven’s gates are Val’s father Jose, his father-in-law Manuel and grandson Joshua. Val will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
