Leonard, Ed
Edward William Leonard passed away from cancer on August 3, 2009 at the age of 71 years.
Edward was born in Waterways, AB on April 29, 1938 to parents Ed and Mary Leonard. His family moved to the Northwest Territories when Edward was 8 and that was where he had received his education. Edward became a driller and worked in Canada until he was 21, at that time he continued on drilling and travelled to South America, Australia, Africa, Indonesia and USA. He married the love of his life Trollee in 1983 in Creston, BC and they had 2 children Amie and Peter.
Some of Edwards hobbies included golfing, playing cards, reading, fishing, hockey, camping and travelling. He especially enjoyed watching kids play hockey, spending time with family and friends and telling stories of his travels.
Edward was predeceased by his father Ed Leonard, mother Mary Leonard, brothers Wilfred and Doug Leonard and sister Norma Crozier. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Trollee, children Amie and Peter, sisters Dorothy Anderson, Lee (Ernie) Christianson, Edith Schliess, Mae (Irv) Joesil, brother Joe Leonard as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service is to be held at a later date.

Marcil, Terry Kay Theresa
Terry Kay Theresa Marcil passed away on August 3, 2009 at the age of 55 years.
Terry was born on August 28, 1953 in Alberta. She loved rocks, painting, quilting, drawing, woodwork, gardening, reading Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings as well as collecting books.
Terry will be dearly missed by her brother and sisters Jim Marcil, Yvonne Cave, Cindy Marcil, and Marge Foisy, children Gary George Baptist, Ray Albert Brunelle, and Angela Kay Brown, grandchildren Justin, Jessica, Zachary, Mason, Paxton, Colton, Maryann, and Olivea.
A Funeral Services was held on Friday August 7, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel.

Moore, Walter Allan
Walter Moore passed away after a short illness on August 1, 2009 at the age of 79 years.
Walter was born on August 23, 1929 in Pickering, ON to parents Rachel and Henry Moore. Walter’s daughter Gail and granddaughter Danya would like to thank everyone who cared for Dad & Grandpa during his illness and stay in the hospital, Don Stace-Smith, Dave & Yvonne Richardson, Mrs. Fricke & neighbours Jan & Josephine and apologies to anyone we have missed.
A special thanks to all the nursing staff of the Creston Valley Hospital and to Dennis from G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel for all of his guidance and support.

John Mark Rayson
John Mark Rayson, known as Mark, passed away suddenly after a brief illness at his parents home, “Rayson’s Retreat” on Kootenay Lake, his favourite place in the world on July 29, 2009 at the age of 35 years.
Mark was born on July 28, 1974 in Prince George, BC and raised in Cranbrook, BC. He graduated from Mount Baker Secondary School in 1992 and subsequently achieved his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2003. Mark was a gifted artist, talented in all fields: painting, sculpture, pottery and photography. His passion was photography which in the last few years he had been developing along with the love of his life, Rachelle Fox.
Mark will be missed for his quirky, quiet sense of humour, compassion, understanding and care for those around him. We will miss his artistic gifts, always a surprise on all occasions.
Mark will be lovingly remembered by his parents Vivian and John of Kootenay Bay, light of his life Rachelle Fox of Vancouver, sister Michelle of Toronto, and sister Dagne Rayson-Fortin of North Vancouver.
A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held at the new Crawford Bay School on August 6, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.

Salviulo, Brandon
Brandon Shea Salviulo passed away suddenly on July 12, 2009 in Riondel, BC at the age of 20 years.
Brandon was born on September 13, 1988 to parents Enzo and Laurel Salviulo in Nelson, BC. He attended Crawford Bay Elementary School, Selkirk College in Nelson, BC, and College of the Rockies, in Creston, BC. He also worked as a small equipment operator.
Brandon was a member of the Riondel Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department and the Kootenay Lake Community Church. He loved playing sports especially curling, hockey, golf, baseball, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, chasing girls, climbing the rocks around the Riondel Mine Site and building cabins to spend many afternoons in, away from the world.
Brandon was predeceased by his grandparents Eric & Dorthy Gerhardi and Francesco & Giusseppina Salviulo.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his parents Vincenzo (Enzo) & Laurel Salviulo, sisters Morgan & Bryanna as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Funeral Service was held on Saturday July 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riondel Community Center with Pastor Doug Middlebrook officiating. Interment took place following the service at the Crawford Bay Community Cemetery.

Ducharme, Joe
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joe Ducharme. He passed away on July 10, 2009 at the age of 93 years.
Joseph Placid ( Joe ) Ducharme was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan on December 15, 1915. He married Holly Gaines on November 10, 1934 in Medstead, Saskatchewan. They moved to the Creston Valley in 1938.
He and his many siblings all learned how to play several musical instruments when growing up in Saskatchewan. After coming to the Creston Valley he enjoyed playing at several of the community dances. He also liked picking huckleberries and playing cards with friends and family. Watching sports on T.V. was another favorite pastime.
Joe was predeceased by his grandson David Berg, daughter Myrtle Kovacs, granddaughter Glenda Swietalski, son Grant Ducharme, and two great grandchildren Taylor and Lane Ducharme.
Joe will be dearly missed by his wife of 74 years, Holly, four sons Frank (Luella) of Fort McLeod, AB, Lloyd (Jean), Fred (Yvonne), and Larry all of Creston, BC, daughter-in-law Margaret of Fort McLeod as well as 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.

Chinn, Irvin
Irvin Roy Chinn passed away on July 4, 2009 in Creston, BC, at the age of 68 years.
Irvin was born on June 21, 1941 in Frenchmen’s Butte, Saskatchewan, to parents Russell and Ruth Chinn. He moved to Terrace, BC with his parents in 1952, later on he moved to Vancouver, Kamloops and finally settling in Creston thirty years ago with a very caring couple Maggie & Julius.
Irvin loved his ostriches and peacocks, and of course his dog and cat, he called his cat Momma Cat. He was also always happy to have his sister Margaret, her husband and their children visit
Irvin was predeceased by his parents Russell and Ruth Chinn. He will be lovingly remembered by six brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held in Terrace, BC at a later date.
