In 1947 Ann moved to Calgary, AB where she worked hard at several jobs, including working at the Banff Springs Hotel, driving a taxi for Yellow Cab Calgary and selling Stanley Dinnerware Products. Her husband was a barber.

When Ann first moved to Creston in 1980, she enjoyed taking care of the farm, raising horses and other various animals. She loved all animals. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, photography and fishing.

Ann was a full time minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent many happy hours discussing the bible with folks around Creston and down the lake.

Walker, Cliff

The family of Clifford Walker would like to announce the passing of their father on August 27, 2010.

Cliff was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario on March 12, 1923. Very early on he became involved in hard and humble work and sports.

At the outbreak of the war he joined Ontario’s Algonquin Regiment in the Canadian Army and he was sent to Europe where he saw real action. He was taken prisoner and after a forced march, in which he had to carry an injured comrade in a wheelbarrow, he spent two years as a P.O.W. He was so proud and fond of the Algonquin’s.

After the war, Cliff married June Hutton in Toronto and had three children. Cliff went to work for Carling – O Keefe Brewery, a career of good beer that took them to Vancouver, Regina, Calgary, Creston and New Westminster. He was always a sports fan and enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball.

When Cliff retired from brewing, he continued his volunteer charitable works, which at one time included being president of B.C. Long Term Care Services. Cliff and June enjoyed a holiday home in Harrison Hot Springs and eventually retired to Creston. Here Cliff enjoyed fellowship at Rotary, Brewery Functions, Gardening and the Craft Intarsia.

Cliff was predeceased by his wife June in 2009.

He will be lovingly remembered by his three children Maureen (Adrian) Gidluck, Stan (Marina) and Ken (Sandi), four grandchildren and six great-granddaughters.

A Funeral Service was held on Thursday September 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Church with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute and Creston Valley Rotary Honour Guard. Interment of Ashes to follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, B.C.

In 1969 the family moved to Trail, B.C. where Alice worked as a cook in the Terra Nova and the Union Hotel until she retired. She returned to Creston for the last four years of her life.

Alice enjoyed her family and was always happy to welcome friends and family with chocolate chip cookies, cabbage rolls, and a little bit of a "witness" (the old one-two) because throughout her life she was a devoted Jehovah's Witness.

Kevin will also be missed by Renee, uncles and aunts, Dave and Robbie Lindsay of Creston, B.C. and their family, Fred and May Masuch and family, Alice and Bill MacDonald and family, Lorraine Lovestrom and family, Albert and Margaret Lovestrom and family, the Everitt family and many cousins and close friends.

Kevin followed in his father’s footsteps working in construction in B.C. and Alberta, initially as a construction surveyor and later as a senior construction manager with a firm in Calgary, AB.

Kevin loved to snow ski, kayak, para-glide and spend time with his friends and family.

Kevin also enjoyed cooking and whenever there was a family get-together we looked forward to his gourmet dishes.
