Richter, Ernest
Ernest Waldemar Richter passed away on December 8, 2011 in Creston, B.C. at the age of 83 years.
Ernest was born to parents Fred and Lydia Richter on September 9, 1928 in Yellow Grass, SK.
In 1951, he married the love of his life, Elsie Dreger.
He worked in the oil patch in Alberta until he returned to farming in 1958.
Ernest was an active member in the Peace Lutheran Church Council and he was one of the founding shareholders of Weyburn Inland Terminal.
He was also a member of various boards including the United Grain Growers, Conservation Development Authority and the Yellow Grass Rink Board and he coached hockey.
Ernest and Elsie retired to Creston in 1986 and here he had various interests one being restoring tractors.
Ernest was predeceased by his parents Fred and Lydia Richter.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Elsie Richter; his children Gail (Rick) Murray, Neil (Donette) Richter, Gord (Megan) Richter; grandchildren Eric, Dean (Kim), Lindsay, Krista (Mike), Kimberly, Justin, Jessica, Megan and Kelly; six great-grandchildren Taryn, Rilyn, Jaden, Lawson, Jack and Leo; brothers and sisters Vic (May), Wilbur (Evelyn), Donelda Nicholas, Doris (Bill) Hill, Leonard (Sherry) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Friday December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan with Pastor David Hanes.

Burden, Jack
Jack Alfred Patrick Burden, age 80 years, passed away on December 5th, 2011 at Creston, B.C., after a lengthy illness.
He was born to Flora and John Burden on March 17th, 1931 at Hastings, Sussex, England and received his education at Kent, England.
Jack married Fay Huggett on May 1st, 1954 on the Island of Malta, while he was a member of the British Royal Navy, serving for seven years.
The couple immigrated to Red Deer, AB in 1964, where he was employed as an electrician.
In 1965 they moved to Rossland, B.C., where Jack gained employment with Cominco before moving to Elkford, B.C., where he was a supervisor for Fording Coal Ltd., before retiring to Creston, B.C.
Jack was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Kootenay Lake Sailing Association, competing in the Gray Creek Reggatta for many years.
Jack enjoyed sailing, which took him to places such as the Virgin Islands, Channel Islands, Flordia Keys and on Kootenay Lake and the West Coast of B.C.
He was predeceased by his parents Flora Beatrice Burden and John Arthur Burden; father-in-law George Huggett; mother-in-law Eleanor Huggett and brother-in-law Les Cobb.
Jack will be dearly missed by his loving wife Fay, son Jonathan ( Jane ) Burden and family, Holly (Saul) and Aszjeca, daughter Lorraine ( Don ) Leduc and family, Doug (Val), Michael, Melody, and great-grandchildren Ryan, Annaka, Lorissa, Siarrah and Cara; sister Joan Cobb and nieces Marriane ( Steve ) and children, and Sandra and children.
The Memorial Funeral Service was held on Monday December 12th, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Br#29, Creston with Padre Randy Wood officiating. Royal Canadian Legion Veteran Tribute.

Ducharme, Holly
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Holly May Ducharme on November 29, 2011 at the age of 96 years.
Holly May Ducharme (nee Gaines) was born to parents Pheobe and Frank Gaines in Hanley, SK on May 3, 1915.
She received her formal education in Hanley, SK.
Holly married Joseph Placid (Joe) Ducharme on November 10, 1934 in Medstead, SK and four years later they made their journey to the Creston Valley.
While living in Creston in the earlier years Holly worked in private homes.
Then Holly and Joe left Creston for a period of time and lived in Fort Macleod, AB, Salmo, B.C., Jaffery, B.C., Calgary, AB, and Mountain Shores, B.C.
She worked as a cook in different restaurants in all of these places except Calgary where she managed an apartment building.
In 1981 they made their way back and retired in the Creston Valley.
Holly enjoyed her garden until she was no longer able to, she also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, writing letters and keeping in touch with them.
She loved reading, playing cards and watching the Calgary Stampede on the television every year.
Holly was predeceased by her husband of 74 years in 2009 Joe Ducharme; grandson David Berg; daughter Mrytle Kovacs; granddaughter Glenda Swietalski (nee Berg); sons Grant Ducharme and Frank Ducharme; grandson Wesley Ducharme; three great-grandchildren Taylor and Lane Ducharme and Cole Berg; three sisters Myrtle Gaines, Iva (Bill) Mather and Fern (Joe) Holms and one brother Glen (Norma) Gaines.
She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her three sons Lloyd (Jean), Fred (Yvonne) and Larry all of Creston, BC; daughters-in-law Margaret and Luella of Fort Macleod, AB, as well as sixteen grandchildren, thiry-nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful, gentle, kind lady.
A wonderful mother and mother-in-law who will be greatly missed.
A private family Memorial Funeral Service will be held at a later date.

Spetifore, Elsie
It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Spetifore announces her passing on November 20, 2011 at the age of 90 years.
Elsie was born to parents Lorne and Alphonsine on May 6, 1921 in Langham, SK.
She moved to Delta, B.C. with her family in 1937.
It was there that she met and married Albert Frederick.
They became very proud parents of Warren and Lorne.
Sadly, Albert was killed at war in 1944.
Elsie later met and married Robert Spetifore and together they had four children.
Although their marriage ended, they remained friends.
Elsie moved to Creston in 1992 so she could be close to her family.
She continued enjoying all the things she loved; her family, her many crafts, tea parties, cooking and feeding people, watching and feeding the birds, game shows, gardening, crosswords, road trips to visit her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Warren (Liisa) Frederick, Lorne (Maureen) Frederick, Moke (Sandi) Spetifore, David (Linda) Spetifore, Rose Spetifore (Dieter) and Greg (Janice) Spetifore, her 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, her brother Gordie and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Lorne and Alphonsine McNolty and her siblings Irene, Flo, Len, Merv and Ev.
A Memorial Funeral Service was held on Saturday November 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Canon Randy Wood officiating.

McCurrach, Dorothy
Dorothy Anne McCurrach ( nee Zorn ), a resident of Lister, B.C. passed away November 19th, 2011 at the age of 77 years at the Swan Valley Lodge.
Dorothy was born November 12th, 1934 to Mary & John Zorn near Melville, SK and received her education in Creston graduating from the Creston Valley High school.
Dorothy was married to Howard Ronald McCurrach on June 27th, 1953 in Creston, B.C.
The couple resided in Calgary until1961, when they made Lister their home in the spring of 1962.
Dorothy was employed with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for thirty years.
Dorothy was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Red Hat.
She enjoyed curling, gardening and walking.
She was predeceased by her parents Mary and John Zorn, husband Ron McCurrach and sister Violet Wilde.
Dorothy will be dearly missed by her son Jerry ( Carol ) McCurrach , daughter Debbie ( Spud ) Myer, grandchildren Codey ( Michelle ) McCurrach, Missy ( Shawn ) McDermid, four great-grandchildren, brother Don ( Marg) Zorn, sisters Bev Dalman, and Sharon ( Sven ) Ostlund, sister-in-law Bernice McCurrach and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Memorial Funeral Service was held on Friday November 25th, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating.
Interment of Ashes preceded the service at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, BC

Henschel, Dorothy
With sadness, the family of Dorothy Lois Henschel, age 76 years, announce her passing on December 26, 2011 in Creston, B.C.
Dorothy was born in Edmonton, Alberta on July 31, 1935.
She was predeceased by her father (William) in 1962 her mother (Amanda) in 1993.
She is survived by sisters Margaret Barz,, Myrtle Barz (Paul) Chilliwack, BC; brothers Bill Henschel, Beaumont, Alberta, Ron Henschel (Daphne), Creston, B.C. along with five nephews and six nieces.
A family gathering took place at G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 7:00 pm.
She was laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erickson, B.C. on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Gordon Lawrence officiating.
