Mr. Stephen "Pete" May
October 22, 1922 - June 23, 2007
Beloved father to Steve and Kathy, devoted husband to Lottie, loved by his children-in-law Frank and Eva and his grandchildren Ryan, Shawn, Curtis and Ben.
Pete was a long time member of Masonic Lodge #142.
Lodge was an integral part of his life.
He worked his way up to Master of the Lodge in 1977 and served as District Deputy Grand Master for one year.
He was also a Shriner.
Pete was a pioneer of Richmond having lived in Richmond all of his life.
His father arrived in Richmond in 1906 where he purchased large parcels of land which became the family farm.
Pete and his brothers worked the farm for 80 years, growing crops and raising cattle.
Cranberries were added to the mix, as well as a family golf course.
Pete succumbed to cancer, on his own terms, at the age of 84.
He is survived by his sisters Marge and Nora, and his brother Buck.
Pete enjoyed his life to the fullest.
He was an avid sports fan and he regularly attended the VSO performances.
He also loved to travel and spent many happy years at his "Home away from home" in Maui.
But most of all, he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
We will all miss the twinkle in your eyes, your quick wit to tell a good joke, and your ability to laugh through life.
You will always be remembered and loved.
