Emma Okrainec passed away peacefully at Vernon Hospice House on Saturday, November 10th, 2007. She was 65 years young and courageously battled cancer for 6 1/2 years.
Emma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Wally, to whom she was married for 44 years; her daughter, Jackie of Red Deer, Alberta; her son, Kevin (Vicki) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; her four grandchildren, Scott, Courtney, Tyler and Braeden; her sisters, Delores Asso, Elsie (Don) Keith, Margaret Clack and Bertha Kilborn; three nephews, James Keith, Tony (Nicole) Clack and Kenny (Belinda) Clack; three nieces, Dayna (Ted) Li, Colleen Aarsen and Bonnie (Rob) James. Emma was preceded in death by her father and mother, Fred and Elsie Schmid and her sister, Denise.
Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Emma’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 24th, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather left us to be with his Lord and Master, at the age of 90 years young. Julian will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Edna; his five children, Allan (Anita) Jewell, Earl Jewell, Kathleen (Jim) Dennison, Dianne (Randy) Brown and Pam Jewell (Rex); his eight grandchildren, Nikki (Karl), Eric, Stephanie (Gary), Lisa, Jim, Jordan, Megan and Marty; his two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Madeleine; one brother, Leonard Dalemo; and one sister, Vi (Dick) Paul. Born June 15, 1917 in Gonvick, Minnesota, USA, Julian was raised on the family farms in both Minnesota and Saskatchewan. He was a proud member of the Saskatchewan Light Infantry during WWII and met Edna, his wife of 60 years, while in training at the Vernon Army Camp. Settling in Vernon after the war, Julian spent his time between logging, returning to Saskatchewan to help on the family farm and working as a heavy duty mechanic (he could fix anything!) He enjoyed a good game of crib and the Norwegian coffee pot was always on. In his last seven years he was an example to all of us as he faced physical adversity with courage, dogged determination and acceptance. He loved his family and his family loved him. We will miss him dearly. Interment in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery preceded a Celebration Of Julian’s Life which will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5151 Alain Road, on Saturday, November 17th, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Roy White officiating. ALLEN, Ruth Vina was born on Apr. 13, 1936 and went to be with our Lord and her loving best friend and husband Terry on Friday, November 9, 2007. She will be terribly missed by her children Debbie (Brad), Terry (Donna) and her grandchildren Courtney & Alex. Also feeling the loss is Step mom Margaret, brothers: Don (Kathy), Jack, Lawrence, Charles, Frank and John and sisters: Laverna (Ron), Alice, Hilda (Leonard), and Beverly (Art). Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.Memorial Service to be held at Lakewood Alliance Church 4001 5th Ave. Prince George on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow at the church. Maxine Elizabeth Morse (nee Hensley) passed away peacefully at Noric House on Thursday, November 8, 2007.
Mom was 91 years old, born in Trainor, Saskatchewan, May 18, 1916.
She was married to Stanley in Vancouver on December 22, 1939. (67 years).
Survived by husband Stan, Sons David (Dawn) and Jim (Elizabeth), 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by brothers John and Glen (“Dale”). Worked for Department of Agriculture in Vernon. Mom was a rambler and a gambler: she loved to travel and was a very skillful (and lucky) at games and the ponies. Special thanks to staff at Noric House and to her good friends John and Shirley Quirk.
Cremation has already taken place. There will be no visitation or service by request of Maxine.

Dorothy Elinor Bentley (nee: Crowder) originally of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2008 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 85 years. Dorothy is survived by her loving children: Bob Bentley (Brenda Zelmer) and Lynda Bentley (Rod Trahan), her brother-in-law, Bill Davy and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth Bentley in 2004, her sister Bette Davy and brothers, Ernest and William Crowder. Flowers gratefully declined. With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived. We regret to announce the sudden passing of “Vern” Wolske in Vernon Jubilee Hospital on January 27th, 2008 at age 92 years. Vern was born in Estevan, Sask. Vernon and Adele raised their family in Kamloops where he was employed by the CNR for 30 years. He and his wife Adele came to Vernon over 3 years ago. Vern loved to golf at McArthur Island and Hillview Golf Courses. He was pre-deceased by grandson Curtis and son-in-law Dennis Danchuk. Vern is survived by his loving wife Adele of 65 years, three daughters, Dorothy (Al) Schley, Sharon (Bob) Skinner of Vernon, B. C., Marian Davies of Kamloops, B. C., seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Elsie Monroe of Revelstoke, B. C., Minnie Ritchotte of Watson Lake, B. C. and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral service will be held from the Chapel of Vernon Funeral Home, 3007 28th Street, Vernon, B. C. on Sunday, February 3rd, 2008 at 1:00 PM. We regret to announce the death at Polson Extended Care on January 27, 2008, of Frederick Cecil Mulvey, at the age of 72 years. Fred was born in Manitoba, and was employed by C.P. Railways for over 20 years. He was a resident of the Enderby area for 20 years, and moved in to Vernon about a year ago. Predeceased by his parents and by one brother, Cliff; Fred will be missed and lovingly remembered by brothers Stan and Len, and a number of nephews, nieces, and extended family members. Cremation. A family gathering will take place at a future date with interment in Alberni Memorial Gardens. The family wish to extend their appreciation to the staff at Heron Grove and at Polson Extended Care, for their loving care of Fred.

Muriel Alaine Jacobs (nee Goodwin), a former long time resident of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, was born on December 21st, 1917 in Colgate, Saskatchewan and passed away on January 27th, 2008 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 90 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family, Ray (Betty) Jacobs of Vernon, B.C., Bob Jacobs and Grace Jacobs, both of Calgary, Alberta (Deista, Coralie and their families) and Ellen Martin of Castlegar, B.C.; three grandchildren, Steven (Glenda) Jacobs of Red Deer, Alberta, Carolyn (Rick) Ververda of Vernon, B.C. and Ken (Josie) Jacobs of Medicine Hat, Alberta; four great-grandchildren, Josh, Krysten, Raya and Quin; one brother, Gordon (Mildred) Goodwin of Weyburn, Saskatchewan; two sisters, Evelyn Aasen of Coronach, Saskatchewan and Irene (Cal) Young of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl in 1983 and her sister and brother-in-law, Helen & Ed Elford in 2006.
Muriel was a very outgoing and pleasant woman who had a wonderful gift of being able to communicate with everyone. Her family and friends were so important to her that her days were spent keeping in touch with them all, usually by telephone. She loved the Lord and was very involved with church activities over the years.
Cremation preceded the Memorial Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Minister Murray Ververda officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel.

With deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of MONA GUDEIT on January 27 at the age of 88 with family by her side. Mona was born in Edgewood, July 20, 1919. She will be lovingly remembered by Bill her devoted husband of nearly 68 years and their 5 children Robert (Darlene), Herb (Terry), Maureen Hoogers (Norman), Gordon (Colene), and Leonard (Shelley). Mona will be deeply missed by her eighteen treasured grandchildren who brought her great joy, Vivian Evans (Bob), Lana Gudeit, Lee-Ann Gudeit, Cora-Lee Baker (Derek), Schelley McRae (James), Gary Hoogers (Kyla), Myrna Hoogers, Sherry Hoogers, Lonnie Hoogers, Sherri Miller (Lee), Nichole Oakden, Laura Leckhy (JR), Jolene Gudeit, Dustin Gudeit, Darren Gudeit (Kristen), Rochelle Volker, Breanne Volker, Channai Volker and 11 great-grandchildren. Myrtle Schwartz passed away peacefully in Polson Extended Care on January 26, 2008, at age 84. Myrtle was born to Adam and Elizabeth Bohnet as the 13th child of 17 in Orion, Alberta, on December 29, 1923. She married Gideon Schwartz on July 3, 1943 in Calgary, Alberta. Myrtle was survived by daughter Eleanora (Ron), sons, David (pre-deceased Hazel), Vernon (Velma), Leon (Suzie), 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Myrtle was Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother to many more children she thought of as her own. Myrtle was pre-deceased by husband Gideon (1990), 2 daughters, a son, a granddaughter and daughter-in-law. Myrtle will be lovingly remembered for her perseverance in hard times, her green thumb and especially her crocheting.
