Peacefully on Saturday January 12, 2013, Mary Friesen passed away at the Bethesda Place Personal Care Home in Steinbach.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons and their families: Dennis (Erna), Gerry (Frieda), Norm (Karen). Mary was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1997.
The funeral will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the service. Mary will be laid to rest in the Mitchell CMC Church Cemetery.

ERIKA KROEZE
Erika Kroeze (nee Treichel) aged 88 years, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, MB.
She was predeceased by her husband Mans on August 26, 1970. She will be missed by her children Albert, Gerda (Orville), Manfred, Rosemarie (Danny), eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service was held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m., with interment at the St. Paul’s Cemetery.

DICK HOLLANDER
Dick Hollander of Niverville, MB passed away at Rest Haven Nursing Home on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the age of 76 years.
He is survived by his wife Judy (nee Hofer), three daughters, one son and their families.
Wake service will take place at Maranatha Good News Centre, 99 Main St in Niverville on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Mission Church, 233 3rd St. S, Niverville with viewing prior to the service. Private family interment at Hespeler Cemetery.

ADELINE FENDER (nee BORKOWSKY)
Adeline Fender of Steinbach passed away peacefully at Rest Haven Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the age of 87 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Gerry (Marilyn) of St. Malo, Dorothy (Gary) Chornoboy of Winnipeg, Larry (Joanne) of Lethbridge, AB, Jane (Lloyd) Barkman, Don, Randy (Lynelle) all of Steinbach and Curt (Cathy) of Winnipeg; her surviving brother Wilbert (Doris)of Calgary, AB and her sister Irma of Kelowna, BC and as well her many grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Reinhold, her sister Thelma (Roy) Chemerika, herbrother Ron (Mary),and sons Dennis (Maria) and Ricky, as well a daughter in infancy.
All are welcome to a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday the 19th of January at 1:30p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach.

Willie Schellenberg of Grunthal, MB formerly of British Columbia, passed away at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the age of 53 years.

EDWARD R. BRANDT
Edward R. Brandt (81) of Minneapolis, MN passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2013.
His parents, Abram U. and Anna Brandt, son Bruce & sister Jessie, predeceased him. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughters Rose Brandt & Eileen (Steve Johnson), son Douglas, granddaughters Rachel (Austin Damiani) & Christine Winckler (Brandon Kier), great granddaughter Elora Damiani, siblings Bill, Lena Enns, Evelyn, Elma, Mary Shymkiw, Nettie, and Caroline Martens. He spent his career in US foreign services in Germany & Pakistan, as well as teaching political science at various USA universities. After retirement he developed a new passion for genealogy.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, Germanic-American Institute, 301 Summit Ave., St. Paul, MN.

Margaretha Kehler, 78, of Steinbach, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Bethesda Hospital.
She is survived by eight daughters, one son, three sisters, one brother, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob T. Kehler.
The funeral service for Magaretha Kehler will be held Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Church, with burial at the church cemetery. Viewing will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

AGNES HARDER (NEE BRAUN)
Agnes was born on July 7, 1932 in South Ukraine. She grew up there until her family fled to Poland, Austria, and then Germany and later immigrated to Canada in 1947. They were sponsored to Canada by a relative, settling in a small farm in Chortitz, Manitoba.
She is survived by her five children Vicky Smith (Bruce), Carol Pond (Bill), Rose Kuras (Perry), Richard Harder, Laura Roy (Ray); grandchildren, Warren, Luke, Donovan, Sara, Matthew, Samantha and great-grandchildren Landon and Levi.
She was predeceased by her husband Abe, her parents, Peter and Anna Braun, her sister Anna and two brothers Pete and Hein.
Funeral Service will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 465 Henry Street in Steinbach, MB on Thursday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at 1:00 p.m. Donations can be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Interment at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Mary Funk (nee Neufeld) of Niverville, MB passed away at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the age of 80 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by five children: Henry (Marlise), Dennis, Jake (Adina), Erna (Menno) Fehr and Leo; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

It is with deepest sorrow, on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Steinbach, Manitoba, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother Margaretha Funk (nee Unrau) age 91, born April 22, 1921.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Bernard Funk; father John Unrau; mothers Helena and Karoline Unrau; and her brothers Jake, John and Paul Unrau.
She leaves to mourn her brothers, Albert, Diedrich (Lorna), Henry (Helen), Nick (Marge); her sisters, Mary, Helen, Agnes and Karoline; her children Stan (Anne), Lorne (Margaret), Ralph (Illona), Ken, Florence (Dave), Lydia (Ray) and Victor (Nicole); 26 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

ELIZABETH (Betty) HAMM
It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to Betty, but we also rejoice that she is finally free to “fly away” to be with the Lord and with family and friends that have gone on before her.
Betty leaves behind two sisters; Susie (Herman), MaryAnn (Jake), and a sister in-law; Tina (Abe). She will also be missed by her nephews and nieces; Angie, Tim Julie, Michael, Matthew, Valerie, Christopher, Laurie, and Becky.
The family would like to thank all the friends and staff at Envision and Kindale, especially her staff at “the house” for all their help and support through the years.
Thank you also to all the doctors and hospital staff for making Betty’s last days as comfortable and pain free as possible.

REV. FRANK KOOP
Peacefully on January 22, 2013, Frank Koop passed away at Menno Home in Grunthal, MB at the age of 95. He will be lovingly remembered by his eight children Kathleen Kudding (Richard), Debby Devlin (Pat), Jim Koop (Marilyn), Janet Boschmann (Ewald), Mary Wootton (Dan), Judy Wegner (Kurt), Jon Koop (Kathie Joy) and David Koop (Brenda), 23 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by one brother and five sisters. Frank was predeceased by his wife Mavis (1992) and two brothers and two sisters.
Viewing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 25 at Cornerstone Bible Church, 290 First St, Steinbach MB. Funeral service and celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26 also at Cornerstone Bible Church.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the staff of Cedarwood Supportive Housing in Steinbach and Menno Home in Grunthal where he received excellent care and love the last years of his life. SADIE DIRKS (nee Unruh)
After a fall and a brief hospital stay, Sadie passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Bethesda Hospital, at the age of 95 years.
She is survived by her daughter Vivian (William Wiggins) and their children: Cynthia (Derek Hoorman), Collette (Jack Burkard and their child Riley), and Wesley; her son Landis (Wendy) and their children: Myron (Ammi), and Lisa. She was predeceased by her husband Ben in 2009.
The funeral service will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Sunday, January 27 at 2:30 p.m. with viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Interment at Heritage Cemetery.
