The funeral will take place at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Wednesday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing prior to the service. He spent his career in US foreign services in Germany & Pakistan, as well as teaching political science at various USA universities. After retirement he developed a new passion for genealogy. She grew up there until her family fled to Poland, Austria, and then Germany and later immigrated to Canada in 1947. They were sponsored to Canada by a relative, settling in a small farm in Chortitz, Manitoba. She is survived by her five children Vicky Smith (Bruce), Carol Pond (Bill), Rose Kuras (Perry), Richard Harder, Laura Roy (Ray); grandchildren, Warren, Luke, Donovan, Sara, Matthew, Samantha and great-grandchildren Landon and Levi.
