Lorraine Monica Nugent
1919 - 2011

Lorraine Nugent passed away on February 19, 2011 at Meadowood Manor at the age of 91 years.
Lorraine was born in Winnipeg, on July 20, 1919. She is survived by her two daughters Carole (Robert) and Adele. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Ned in 1998.
Lorraine was a kind and gentle person, with twinkly blue eyes, who had a wonderful sense of humour and who loved a good joke. Her easy laugh will always be remembered. She lived her life by the golden rule of “live and let live”, she never judged or criticized others. She loved her family, her home and her pets. Not having any grandchildren of her own she enjoyed her many “grandpets” and showed them love and care.
Following her husband’s retirement they enjoyed travel, especially the west coast and Alberta and also spent a great deal of time at Clear Lake.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Meadowood Manor for their kindness, care and compassion; and a special thank you to Stacey, Laurie, Marie, and Dr. Duerksen.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
A private family service will take place at Meadowood Manor.

Lorne was born on June 23, 1940 and worked for MTS retiring in 1995. Lorne made many friends, through the ministries and hobbies he was involved in. He loved being at his cottage at Hillside beach with his grandchildren, who were so dear to him.

Evelyn "EB" Souvie (nee Natynczyk)
1956 - 2011

It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Evelyn Souvie at the age of 54 years.
Evelyn leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter Katherine Natynczyk; brother Walter Natynczyk (Leslie); sister Susan Natynczyk; niece Margaret; nephews William (Denise) and John Natynczyk; relatives in Germany, England and Spain as well as neighbours and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Irene and Alexander Natynczyk.
Evelyn enjoyed her job at the Health Sciences Centre as Charge EKG Technologist and was an expert in her field. She was respected by her colleagues with whom she enjoyed chatting about many topics; the Winnipeg Blue Bombers was but one. She developed many friendships with her colleagues and had a great deal of respect for all of them; especially of Dr. P. Garber. Evelyn also worked for H&R Block during peak tax season. Her winter vacation always needed to be completed by February so she could dive right into the new tax year. She loved number crunching and the satisfaction of working with her regular clients as well as new ones.
Evelyn was looking forward to returning to the lake this April to enjoy the sun, water and her gardening. It was at the lake that she discovered her love of her ATV and blueberry picking. The early morning dew on the fresh berries kept her going back for more despite once getting lost. The ATV became a part of her, especially when it was time to give the dogs a good run. She motored into the bush paths enjoying the scenery.
Evelyn was a loving mother to Katherine; her sunshine. She loved her “baby” through thick and thin and always spoke with pride about her. Katherine will miss her “mummy”. K.C., her faithful dog will miss the head scratching and being spoiled. Evelyn loved her dog who she considered to be her second baby.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers had a die-hard fan in Evelyn. Although she couldn’t get to the games people around her could hear the cheers or jeers through the walls of her home or at the lake. She loved her Bombers.
I will miss you my dear sister.
Visitation will be between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011 with prayers starting at 4:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. Emily Virginia Cork

In loving memory of Emily “Virginia” Cork, of Bellsite, Manitoba, who passed away at the Swan River Valley Health Centre on June 10th, 2013 at the age of 78 years.
Virginia was born in Swan River, Manitoba on March 21st, 1935 to Peter and Marie Duchesne.
Virginia married Ronald Vernon William Cork, who passed away May of 2001.
Mom wants to be remembered for her special tea’s and homemade bread; the faith and belief that she instilled in her children regarding the Catholic Faith; and being close loving and looking after each other and forgiving each other. Some of mom’s fondest memories are the birth of her four children and the family gatherings that they had. Mom loved the simple things in life, such as birds, and a good visit with friends. Her ability to make delicious bread was appreciated by all.
Mom used to say that if it rained on the day a good person passes that the world cried at the loss of that good person, the day she passed on it poured.
A big thanks to all who were there for mom in her time of need. Special thanks to Lindy Gauthier for staying with mom at HSC and sticking it out for a mouth until she came home.
Virginia is survived by her three sons Irvin, Vernon and Rodney; numerous grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband Ronald Cork; daughter Ellrae Makowaychuk (Cork); sisters Dora Paul and Florence Burwash; brothers Henry Duchesne and Peter Duchesne; grandpa Albert Ethier; grandma Marie Ethier and by her parents Peter and Marie Duchesne.

Rafael Delgado
1918 - 2011

On December 29, 2011 the angels of heaven came for our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Rafael Delgado.
Rafael will be lovingly remembered by his four beloved children who meant the world to him: Americo (Elvira), Maria Gracinda (Albino), Fernanda (Jose Alberto) who resides in Portugal and Jose Luis (Maria Luisa). He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Lucy (Paulo), Elizabeth (Michael), Paulo (Livia), Daniel (Francesca), Crystal (Paulo) who resides in Portugal, Gabriel (Fiancée Michelle), Catarina (Fiancé Greg), Silvia, Nilton and 4 great-grandchildren, Monica, Marcus, Emma and Mateo. Along with his immediate family Rafael leaves behind his brother Ricardo Delgado (Maria do Rosario) sister-in-law Fernanda Simoes, brother-in-law Manuel Marques all of Portugal, brother-in-law Americo (Isaura) Simoes and sister-in-law Maria da Luz Simoes. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews here in Winnipeg as well as in Portugal.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Maria, who passed away 12 days before him, his parents Maria Vicencia and Joao Delgado, brother Antonio, sisters Maria das Neves, Lucina, Edevires, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Rafael was born August 20th, 1918 in Pe-Da-Serra, Amendoa, Portugal. He lived in France for 5 years before coming with his family to Canada in 1967. He worked in construction and later in hospitality until his retirement.
From his retirement until 2007, Rafael and Maria would always spend their summers in Portugal and looked forward to entertaining anyone who came by. He enjoyed so much looking after his fruit and olive groves. He was most happy when one of the children or grandchildren would come and visit.
He also enjoyed reading. Reading was a passion of his. He would read throughout the day and late into the evening. Usually his books were of religious themes and he would look forward to sharing the story or moral of the book with whomever came around to visit. He would also pass along his books and magazines to others in the community so that they too could learn about the lives of the Saints and the missions.
Rafael will be remembered for his spirituality, his devotion to God, his generosity and love for his family. Rafael loved Jesus, God and our Holy Mother of heaven with all his being. He found comfort in prayer and the rosary and in the love and promises of Jesus. He attended mass daily until it became physically impossible to do so. Attended every religious event whenever possible and prayed the rosary faithfully every night with his wife.
Rafael had an extraordinary devotion to the Missions of Africa through the Comboni Missionaries. He would sell tickets that were sent to him by the missionaries as a way of fundraising money to send to the poor, hungry and homeless in Africa. He was a brave, selfless, strong, kind, compassionate and self-sacrificing man and a caring and nurturing father and grandfather. His loss will be felt by all who knew him. Through the last difficult months of illness Rafael was always patient, loving, understanding, strong and accepting of what God had in store for him. His hand-shakes, thank you’s and smiles to all who visited made everyone feel loved by him when they left.
Rafael lived a full and joyous life. Rafael and Maria were soul mates and anyone who knew them could see that this was so. Their love was a special kind of love, forever endless. They were a wonderful example to all couples! The family finds consolation in knowing that these two soul mates are together again, beside each other, where they belong!
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the visitors who brought comfort and kind words to Rafael. A Special thank you to the staff at the Victoria hospital 5th floor North and Misericordia Health Centre (Cedar Grove) for their compassionate care.
Prayers will be held on Monday, January 2nd, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin Street North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Fr. Wladimir Porreca presiding. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
