Alfrieda Leonie (Frieda) MacDonald
On February 4, 2009, Frieda passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at age 88 years.
She was predeceased by husband Angus in 2003. She is survived by sons Raymond Barnes of Victoria and Kenneth Barnes of Edmonton; daughter-in-law Sandra; granddaughter Amy; grandson Kevin; sisters Caroline and Agnes and their families; sisters-in-law Pearl and Eileen Barnes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00am Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg. Interment at Brookside Cemetery.
Lalmoon Raymond Nimchan "Ray"
Born April 9, 1940 Raymond, died peacefully on January 10, 2009 at Seven Oaks Hospital. He was born in Barrackpore, Trinidad and Tabago.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents Seerilal and Saliman Nimchan; sister Jasmine Sankar; brother Peter Nimchan and partner Jessie Ostaff.
He is survived by his son Daron, daughter Adria Penner (Marcel), son Neil (Marissa); their mother Miranda Nimchan; grandchildren Jessie and Josiah Penner; brother Dr. Ralph Nimchan and family of Texas; sister Carmen Khan and family of Calgary as well as many nieces and nephews in Trinidad, Canada and the United States.
Raymond migrated to Winnipeg in 1975; he was employed with the City of Winnipeg as a Transit Bus Operator with over 25 years of service to the citizens of Winnipeg. He was an avid card player with Manitoba All Fours Association. He also loved cricket and was an Island Umpire in Trinidad. Raymond loved spending time with family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
A special thanks to the team of Seven Oaks Home Care office, to Brian Toews his nurse, the doctors and nurses at the Seven Oaks dialysis unit and to all involved in his care while at home and in the hospital.

Keith Richard Jensen (Tiny)
JULY 15, 1947 – JANUARY 12, 2009
Keith passed away suddenly at the age of 61. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Howard, father John Jensen and younger brother Dwight.
He leaves to mourn brothers Duane and Kelvin; sister Charlene Aitkens all of Winnipeg; sister Jolene Ort of Fort Dodge, Iowa; as well as nieces Tracy, Tanya, Tonya, Susan and nephew David.
Keith was a long time employee of the New Occidental Hotel until failing health prevented his working. “Tiny” as he was known to all was a giving person as his many friends and acquaintances will attest to, a heart bigger than he. Love you brother.
To the staff of Emergency-Adult and Intensive Care Units, Health Sciences Centre, a heartfelt thank you for your extraordinary efforts and kindness.

Shirley Ann Siemens
It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that this announcement be made of the passing of Shirley Siemens at the age of 54.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ken, Daughter Amber (Neil), Granddaughter Isabella and Sister Jane Grime.
MS struck our family over 15 years ago, and Mom was a fighter each and year. No matter how bad things got she felt blessed by her family and the little things in life.
As per her request there will be no funeral. A private family gathering will be held. Flowers are gracefully declined. Donations may be made in Shirley's name to the MS Society.
A special thanks to those at the Luther Home that treated Mom like family.

Suddenly, Mervyn Brome age 65 passed away at the Victoria Hospital.
Funeral service took place on Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Caribbean Cultural Centre. Graveside service 1:30pm Friday, January 9, 2009 at St. Vital Cemetery. Friends may meet at the cemetery entrance.
Dorothy May Currell
On January 1, 2009, after a brief illness, Dorothy Currell passed away at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 68.
She is survived by her eleven children and five grandchildren.

Jenny Setsuko Nishimura
Peacefully, at the Tuxedo Villa, on Thursday, December 25, 2008, Jenny Setsuko Nishimura, wife of the Late Rev. Hidoe Nishimura, entered Nirvana at the age of 99 years.
Jenny was born June 19, 1909 in Shiga-Ken, Japan and immigrated to Canada in 1934. She and her husband lived in British Columbia before moving to Winnipeg during the Second World War. She was predeceased by her husband in 1971.
Jenny taught Sunday school at the Manitoba Buddhist Temple and worked hard to introduce Japanese culture to the community.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Extendicare Tuxedo Villa for the compassion and care given to Jenny and a special thanks to her friends and temple members who helped to provide palliative care to Jenny.
Funeral service 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Manitoba Buddhist Temple, 39 Tecumseh Street with Sensei Fredrich Ulrich officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Buddhist Temple at 39 Tecumseh Street, Winnipeg, MB., R3E 3J8.

William Skwarko passed away at the age of 62 years.

Phyllis. M. (nee Tohms) WILSON
Peacefully on Friday March 13, 2009 Phyllis Wilson age 68 years, beloved wife of Ron passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital.
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ron of 42 years; sons Tim (Suzanne) and Chris (Roseanne) granddaughter Alyssa; sister Maxine (Raymond) Vollrath, her extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Robert Tohms.
Phyllis was born August 11, 1940 in Arnaud, Manitoba. She graduated from Glen Lawn Collegiate before taking her training as a nurse at the Grace Hospital School of Nursing. After becoming a registered nurse her career took her to Churchill, Manitoba, Kenora, Sioux Lookout, London and North Bay, Ontario. She gave up her career when she became a mother.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of Level 5, Unit 5 at the Seven Oaks Hospital and to Dr. Moncek and Dr. Lezak.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street.
