Alan Cameron Watson
Alan Cameron Watson passed away quietly from this life, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 10, 2009 at the age of 88 years.
He was born on December 19, 1920, second child of Albert & Kate Watson. Alan grew up with his brother Vernon and two sisters Ruth and Donna on the farm in the Deseronto district near Plumas.
He loved the farm, spending 83 wonderful years there. In 1943 he married Kathleen (Kae) Stewart of Mekiwin and brought her to the new house he had built for them on the farm where he worked with his dad.
Many of Dad’s wonderful memories were of family, friends and neighbours who were a part of his life. He would tell us about cutting and hauling wood “across the marsh”, thrashing with the Mack’s and spending the winter of 1936 with his Uncle Gilman “in the mountains” cutting wood for building granaries and barns on the farm.
Dad loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends. After Mom passed away he lovingly cared for her gardens.
Dad and Mom raised 6 children Ferne (Marcel), Kathy (Wayne), Lois (Steve), Ron (Lynn), Lee (Gerald) and Laurel (Brad). Dad leaves to mourn 14 grandchildren Alison, Crystal, Shauna & Tara and their families, Ashleigh & Andrew and family, Heather & Bonnie and families, Michael’s family, Amy & Jared and family, Kari & Curtis and family, Cody and Camille; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. He will be missed by his sister Ruth Emisch (Ken); special nephew Ian (Lee); cousin Rosemary (Herman) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Kae; brother Vernon; sister Donna; sons-in-law Clarence and Bob; and grandson Michael.
When Dad began his new life living in the Centennial Apartments in Gladstone he met many wonderful friends and caring people. We acknowledge them all with thanks for the memories they made with our dad.
